I don't know what it is, since I don't read almost anything that is not Jump (or Jump+) so...I can only stick to the Jump similarities. What I wanted to express is that this new series is similar to too many other series, or maybe it is just me TVTroping too much. Sometimes it feels like reading the same manga over and over again.
I do think you're "TVtrooping" too much, it looks nothing like Ruri Dragon, Shinobi or Hero Girl lol

It's almost impossible to be happy about anime announcements for this magazine. Any manga that hits over 2 years will eventually get one, but they keep taking more and more time to announce them. If you're fan, you're more likely frustrated than happy when it happens, even japanese fans at some point just keep asking "where's the anime", "why is there no anime announced yet?", etc. No one celebrated Sakamoto Days' anime, if anything the long wait already gave a bad image to the whole project. It's so annoying and they act like they aren't doing the bare minimum.

Really enjoyed Ura Files, happy to have my king Numa back — I was choujo's strongest soldier and a battle (?) comedy seems right at home. Roku also seems to be pulling something between a Yozakura/Katekyo shift into more action territory, I do think this can work even if it's not my preference. Not sad about DttF going! 2-B I think is very funny (this chapter was hilarious) and I'm really hoping for this vet buff to come through. Cannon Master is also very exciting, it's got energy and definition to it like it knows what it wants to be. The lore and designs are intriguingand the one panel of Ur crying is spectacular.

I'm very anxious about Grey Keys, I liked the one-shot but I'm skeptical on it as a long term read but I'm very excited to be very wrong on it. Hoping this week announces Bleach too.....

I also really like what we're doing with Shinobi, it's so old-school yet so fresh at the same time. I actually don't know how y'all dislike it so much here, it's got the shonen jump energy to a tee.

Issue votes:
1. Ura Files
2. Cannon Master
3. Shinobi
4. Shinobi
5. Kagurabachi

An iconic example of Magazine authors having a better schedule and being years ahead of Jump authors is Hiro Mashima, who many times made Magazine release two or more chapters of his series in the same week. During the original publication of Fairy Tail, eh released a volume worth of chapters in three weeks, and the magazine was able to adapt itself to this huge amount of chapters in a short time. I don't think something like that would be possible in Jump.
I believe the issue starts at the drawing board, jump releases series expecting loses, they release batches thinking that at least at least half of the authors will be axed.
Sunday. Magazine, Champion seem to put more faith in their releases, when they decide to publish a manga it's a read to be released and has, in their heart, what it takes to pay for itself. You can notice that just by reading the first three volumes of the series released in those magazines and comparing it to the first three volumes of Jump series.

Jump sells more, so they have support from the market to keep doing what they do, but I believe that their current model is one that punishes authors for trying and it pushes authors to rush their series too much, I would even say that this is one of the reasons as to why so many jump series these days are so plot oriented.
I'm all for criticizing Jump's scheduling and treatment of authors, but let's please not use Mashima as the example — that man is built different from every other mangaka out there. Unbelievable level of consistency and machine-like output, I do not think he's a fair example with how superhuman his stamina and quality is. But I do think it's a fair comparison to say, how other veterans like Takahashi are holding up in old age compared to a rookie like Hokazono who's basically run into the ground....

I'm basing my take on roku on how Nakamura structured Agravity Boys, but I feel like it'll never go full serious battle shonen. Agravity boys flirted with "serious" events like the prison arc or the company battle, but it was all in service for the comedy. I really feel like these guys will just be a comedic antagonistic duo, similar to the other spacemen in agravity boys, or the lady cop. Basically they'll get roped into the hijinks, but never pose a major threat.

The amount of fanart Ura's gotten after only one chapter is insane, not sure I can remember a series that had more by this point (Hertz is the only one that comes to mind and I don't remember seeing a ton of it until a few weeks in; also Kagurabachi but most of that was meme art so it doesn't really count)

Ruri got a lot after chapter 1.
Figures, I didn't start reading Jump (besides One Piece) until after Ruri went on hiatus so I probably wouldn't have seen any for it

Ura seems like it’s going to survive. Not that I want it to fail, but just so frustrating that we haven’t gotten an action adventure hit in jump since what….. Ichi (not counting modulo)? Really pulling for Grey keys to have reworked its flaws and be promising. It just feels like we’re turning into WSM where it’s become night impossible to produce an action adventure series in Jump.

I’m so annnoyed that editors and Saito haven’t cracked the sports curse or get some action adventure hits; there needs to be some change imo. I was a big Honda fan and was pissed he didn’t get the EiC job. I know it’s not all on Saito because I’d love to know who the editor for Otr of the flame was who let Kawaguchi repeat the same flaw of an early training arc along with a weird shota MC design again; just sloppy by Jump. I don’t know if it’s Saito running a failed vision or if its just a top down disaster or failing to recruit and cultivate talent but I think the EIC role needs to be swapped pronto if they can’t produce an action adventure hits (not saying gag or romance are lesser series despite my comparative ack of enthusiasm for them but they have a harder cap in terms of sales and national/global reach of Shonen fans ).

I also don’t think jump runs its authors to the ground. It’s the most competitive mag out there and the standards for art are super high. Not taking away from romance authors and the legend rumiko; she’s a legend and it’s super impressive for her doing this at her age with likely a rough schedule, but Hokozano, Suzuki, and the gachiakuta mangaka are burning out because their art is way more detailed and kinetic… and to be honest some people just have the work of a manga series hit differently. Sorachi is legend who pulled out 700ish chapters but it was grueling for him compared to other authors like mashima and niishi who’ve done 100s of chapters as well and just seem like it doesn’t harm them (granted they’re not as detailed per se as the above series but still).
I think you didn't get the point of the discussion, Shonen Jump does not have high standards for art compared to other magazines like Weekly Shonen Magazine, and even the great ones are getting ruined by the bad schedule, both Hokazono and Suzuki would work just fine on WSM schedule, they have much better artists like Oh! Great doing it weekly at 50 years old

I wouldn't say every manga in wsm as ranger reject is on hiatus (not even the first hiatus it had), galaxias went magazine pocket due to health, gachiakuta has been taking far more breaks than before with shorter chapters, and I believe even the blue lock artist has mentioned getting sick a few times on twitter.
I also forgot to mention ippo being on hiatus due to health. Even wsm manga aren't immune to problems with the weekly schedule, sure there may be less issues compared to jump but they're not perfect either

Is that really magazine dependent though? Does WSM or WSS actually give more turnaround?

Btw, the "authors team up" invasion we're seeing happening lately is pretty much Jump being aware of their bad situation, WSM has only 2 team up authors and they're not even by 2 authors with good art, they're the classic "Writer that can't draw & Artist" lol

That's the whole point of the discussion, that both WSM & WSS doesn't have authors art declining all the time, publishing chapters with the art close to storyboards, going on hiatus due to being tired of having to reduce pages for not being able to keep it up, and yeah i know Gachiakuta has been on a hiatus in the last month but from what i see isn't about bad schedule (hope she's okay...)

Idk Im more inclined to think it’s genre related. I think when you have an action series over 200ish chapters and you’re a solo artist then the health starts to hit a bit depending on the person. Blue lock is a duo and they’ve had unfinished chapters. Go go loser ranger’s author had health issues that I don’t think ever occurred when he did the quintuplet series. Galaxias had to drop out of a weekly series completely. Some like oh great and Nakaba (multi series vets who’ve stream lined their process) are built different but also have the capability to do it (although I’d say nakaba’s art is more simple then the hiatus series and I don’t think Oh Great is spending as much time on the story part lol) hence why they’re still in game at their age (similar with Mashima and I’m sure Niishi).I think the action aspect changes things.

All the gag and rom coms in jump never really had hiatuses to them or any difficulties for the most part as far as I recall

What you said about Nakaba, Mashima or Oh Great doesnt really has much to do with how they're able to do what they do, if they were put on Shonen Jump i don't give 2 years for them to start getting breaks, reduced pages and art decline lol

Kouji Miura (Blue Box) art deteriorated in a very noticeable way with time, Genki Ono (Hima-Ten) also started to clearly struggle with his art in the final phase of the series with the final chapters showing rough drawings in some panels, so the romcoms are also suffering on WSJ, gag mangas are already known for having simple or mediocre art so it's not like is going to suffer anyway, but still, Miyazaki is actually a very impressive artist considering how he's constantly emulating other artists style.

Obviously other magazine authors will eventually get ill sometimes, weekly serialization is tough independent of the place but Shonen Jump isn't doing anything to improve their authors lives, at best just throwing more money on them with manuscript fee increases, newbies are breaking easier than ever and veterans come back with either reduced pages or lack of color pages or with another artist to help them, even comedy/romcoms are needing 2 authors to fully work on WSJ like Animal Signal & Ura no Report, that's rough.

I'm really liking Ura no Report so far, but I hope it doesn't stay a Bokuyaba clone.
