I hear way too much in this thread about sales being driven by Sorachi's name, but having a big name didn't help Build King or Tenmaku hit even 5k.

Gintama's fanbase is very different to that of Toriko's or Food Wars.

Towards the end, Gintama's volume sales were around 200k a month, Toriko's were at 200k, and Soma's were 170k. But sure, let's pretend Gintama has a fanbase like Naruto's.

New Hoshin Engi game announced at Nintendo Direct and it looks very good! I'm really excited for this, wtf.

And it's published by Shueisha Games. So glad to see Jump games from other series finally thanks to them, hope we keep getting more from new and older series "too niche for the west".

lol no one posted Sept 7 & 8?

Shoseki Top 500 (September 7)
1. Kagurabachi #12
5. Kochikame #202
10. Class 2B Hero Destroyerz #1
13. Nue's Exorcist #16
14. Shinobi Undercover #9
15. Roku's House of Oddities #1
20. Hima-Ten! #11

7. Kochikame #202
19. Class 2B Hero Destroyerz #1
29. Nue's Exorcist #16
36. Shinobi Undercover #9
44. Hima-Ten! #11
51. Roku's House of Oddities #1

Start of Week 2! Not gonna lie, Class 2B is holding better than expected so far, i guess that's Sorachi name power for you, Roku also went above Hima again in the 4th day so i think there's potential to have longer legs than Hima and eventually outsold this volume.
The way you guys treat Roku like the second coming of Jesus Christ on Earth, this manga should have better sales. Furthermore, Himaten, with the same sales level as Roku, only had two covers, one of which was an anniversary edition. But Roku got a second cover very early on; they treated the manga as a huge success far too soon.

It's so weird to see people acting like Kiyoshi was never in danger when the author literally admitted it was on the verge of being cancelled. Some narratives die hard, I guess.
Like Tirakai said, it's actually a bit of mistranslation, he didn't literally say the manga was about to get axed, i also have seen some japanese fans saying the same when the "news" spread at the time, but sure, we could take the few bad rankings pre chapter 19 as a sign that the manga wasn't doing hot, so can we do the same with Kagurabachi that even ranked bottom 1 and say it was in danger of cancelation?

Build King was a disaster which not even Shima believed on it and Tenmaku Cinema was simply a "boring" manga that had nothing Souma fans wanted which is no one bought, meanwhile Class 2B does have the very typical Gintama & Sorachi humor and characters type which would definitely appeal for the fanbase at first.

You're also really underestimating how big is Gintama in Japan and the loyalty of its fans compared to Shima or Tsukuda & Shun lmao!

Apparently there's also a Rurouni Kenshin game in production that leaked on Steam or something

How much do you think it should sell?

Magazine covers are not mainly about sales but a combination of it with ToC placements lol Hima-Ten never got big rankings in general compared to Roku.

So? Yuuna also got a 1st place and didn't even got a cover for the 1st anniversary despite selling over 100k, Nisekoi only got a cover in the 1st anniversary being a hit from the start, We Never Learn only got one on ch38, meanwhile Samon-kun got a cover on ch24 despite selling only 21k with vol 1 in 2016, we know romcoms doesn't usually get the same treatment as the other genres in the magazine.

Not trying to compare, but I think Roku has something like Roboco regarding votes for TOC and such. That's why they have put Roku high on TOC.

After 24 hours, GrayKeith 1st chapter reached 76k views on Plus!

While not great numbers it's also not any disaster, it's just decent, it's the same average as Hal Formula (74k) and only 4k away from Syd Craft (80k), it's at least above all the disasters!

And meanwhile The Ura Files chapter 2 already surpassed 100k views in 24h which is really good, ch1 is at 186k, as much as Ichi the Witch ch1 (195k)

This doesn't change the excessive hype that was placed on Roku by giving this manga a cover so early. Furthermore, Himaten isn't the only one with the same level of sales as Roku; Shinobi Undercover is another one that didn't get a cover early, and I think Shinobi Undercover has ranked #1 more times than Himaten.

Shinobi ranked 1st for the first time only on chapter 43, way after the chapters timespan we're talking about so your comparison doesn't fit here, also Shinobi rankings were lower than Roku pre ch20.

This still doesn't justify a second Roku cover; these positions aren't good enough for that.

With all respect Stivie, you're not a editor or work on Jump, so you don't decide what justify or what is good enough or not for a series to get a 2nd cover :grin

You're not the editor either, considering you say Kiyoshi and Roku are a huge success. Besides, it's very convenient to say that sales don't matter, but everyone's happy with 2B's sales, believing the manga will start achieving good rankings.

Stivie how about not starting stuff again? Cause clearly you want to start again. When everyone else wants to focus on other things.

I mean great, guess the September luck is still in affect. At least I could see Ura being a solid romcom hit for jump, its greykeith that is going to have to face off against the others as well as any future batch in the next one.

You're putting words on people's mouth again as if i'm praising both as "huge success" when i simply say what they are, successful series, Jump push them as hits, not me :grin
