Issue 40 2026 (ULTRA MEGA LATE EDITION):

1. Nue's Exorcist: AHHHHH MY GIRLS!! Okay, Okay let's start in order! I am fully convinced that Yagyo was jealous of Gakuro in his dying moments, about the fact that he had someone to love and protect, someone that he could give his all for. This is why I think Yagyo "made" Aka, Hiyori and Kodama. He was trying to achieve that same feeling of family and fatherhood, and thus, rather than dying calmly like he was letting on at first, he felt the rage of failing to keep his family alive. It's Karma at its finest, he imitated a father only to end up not even protecting his children. By all means, he has no right to feel anger after what he has done, but he does, that's simply his love and the loss taking action. And keep in mind, unlike Gakuro and Shitotsu, the girls could protect themselves to an extent. Takuro had no such luxury, just two defensless children to protect, and unlike Yaggy here, protect them he did. This must be why he thought of Takuro in these dying moment. It keeps up with the theme of Hypocrisy that Kasha set up for this arc. And lastly, he was ORDERED to destroy the Yajima Family? I have a feeling that Raisei and Kasha knew of them and their objective long, LONG ago. We saw Takuro talking to Baldie, I will remind you!
...Man, MAN what an entrance from Squad 6!! I truly did not expect the Beach Trio to show up as well, but that Gekka training is something else it seems. Relatively speaking, they are in the upper echelon of power in the Bureau, which is absolutely crazy to say- they used to lose to Level 2s, now they are one shotting what seems to be quasi-Level 3s!! They ARE geniuses!! It's so satisfying seeing someone like Reina block off the spawns of a Level 4 like this- meanwhile Kazusa casually cleans house, looking cooler and calmer than ever! To be honest, I would not be surprised if all of Squad 6 (minus the Beach Trio) surpassed Gakuro as he is now. Ishu's cute and funny and Natsuki gives glorious lap pillows, as it should damn be! Noting just how insane Gakuro is for healing for like, half a minute then going back for round... What, 4? He has not stopped fighting since getting to the family grounds. Absolute beast of a guy...
All of this goes back to the very first chapter of the arc: Gakuro's comrades are strong, and that will be the key to defeating Kasha and Kurikara. Yet, Shiroha's strangely missing... She'll definitely get her Soul Armor this arc, with Kyokotsu in the spotlight again, and it will be beyond glorious. It's the girl's time to shine damnit!
Art is amazing, the hype is through the roof, the color page is the best, and the feels are oh so good. That last move by Kazusa is the perfect way to cap off this development and starting the climb, bold as hell! 12/10 once again!!


2. Animal Signal: God the sheer stupidity of these ass jokes is just a wonderful thing. Let's all also acknowledge how Sumire's asscheeks are the most powerful weapon in the whole magazine, god bless.

3. Ura Files: Quite a good first chapter! The art is amazing as expected, and the themes of racism being put on the forefront of the drama is something I quite like. The names are charmingly on the nose, and I do like the humor. Not bad for my first experience with Numa's writing.

8. Class 2B Hero Destroyerz: That ending caught me off guard lol.

9. Ichi The Witch: I am done with this series. Spoiler, I already read ch97 as well as I'm writing this. You'll get the, probably heated, "Dropped" review with it. The more I go on with this series, the more I realize that I just do not really care for this side of Ichi (the character).

10. Under Doctor: Gotta love how the world's 5 best brain surgeons were all introduced in one go basically so that Haiji can look even better.

11. Cannon Master: Speedran through like, 4 different plot points. It got the notice, didn't it? Either way, horrible pacing.

After 24 hours, GrayKeith 1st chapter reached 76k views on Plus!

While not great numbers it's also not any disaster, it's just decent, it's the same average as Hal Formula (74k) and only 4k away from Syd Craft (80k), it's at least above all the disasters!

And meanwhile The Ura Files chapter 2 already surpassed 100k views in 24h which is really good, ch1 is at 186k, as much as Ichi the Witch ch1 (195k)

Ura is probably getting an immediate coverage once it ranks and I wouldn’t be surprised about an early cover like Roku.

That’s relieving to a degree about greykeith. Sorry to bother but do you know what the online JP reception was for Greykeith?

And it's published by Shueisha Games. So glad to see Jump games from other series finally thanks to them, hope we keep getting more from new and older series "too niche for the west".

When I gush on twitter, I'm like a monkey with a typewriter, posting separate images with the correct text accompanying, whoch is very quick and easy.

Start of Week 2! Not gonna lie, Class 2B is holding better than expected so far, i guess that's Sorachi name power for you, Roku also went above Hima again in the 4th day so i think there's potential to have longer legs than Hima and eventually outsold this volume.

What are the chances that this volume is being scalped like UD volume 1 and the sales aren't really showing its actually popularity (or lack thereof)?
I could see people who do not read weekly (scalpers in this case) overestimating how it is being received based on Sorachi's name recognition.

The reason why Under Doctor was scalped was because of the Horikoshi obi assigned to it. Remember that thousands of manga were sold during the Natsucomi event and then dumped on the streets. Scalping a manga without something attached to it is not really a thing.

And there's one more thing, you're kind of downplaying the first-place positions just to defend the treatment Roku has been receiving. As if the first-place positions of Himaten and Shinobi Undercover meant nothing.

Are you comparing Graykeith to Hal Formula and Syd, one manga with a high chance of cancellation and the other that has already been canceled, and you're still saying that these views aren't a complete disaster?

Sorry, but this script was already set. Regardless of what the first chapter of Graykeith would be like, it was already determined that the manga would have a higher chance of cancellation after Ura's acceptance.

It doesn't matter if the manga in question was canceled or not, there's a standard for these numbers, which can be considered great, good, decent or bad, and reaching 75k in 24 hours is decent, getting great views like Ura doesn't mean it will be a success either since Kaedegami did exactly the same numbers as Ura ch1 and ended up a big flop while Roku did disastrous numbers, 55k, and turned out to be a hit.

My impression is it's gintama fans who don't read jump anymore but want to support sorachi who bought the volume. There's a lot of chatter on x from them about it so I think it's genuine instead of scalping. Gintama fandom is still active and fujos make up a large part of it who are generally very supportive. It's probably why twilight blade is selling as well as it is compared to most of his jump+ contemporaries even with having similar views on jump+ to them because of the fujo fans.

getting great views like Ura doesn't mean it will be a success either since Kaedegami did exactly the same numbers as Ura ch1 and ended up a big flop while Roku did disastrous numbers, 55k, and turned out to be a hit.

Kinato also had more views than UD but the former ended earlier. Hima-ten also had medicore views(around 40k after 12 hours) for the first chapter and went on for two years.
I don't really know how rare these occurrences are so maybe it's okay to have views as a determiner for a series's success.

The sales aren't "so high", it's going to be like Kill Blue & Astro Royale level, between 30k & 40k in the month which is good if the rankings are good like was with Kill Blue, but if it ranks like Astro is just decent at best, is simply the author's name, Ichinose Family sold 65k in the month and the series fell apart in the rankings sooner after that and got axed at 50 chapters, these things happen.

Secret ninja's aside, this feels very much like Stop! I'm Falling For You on M+. That one got cute after a while (after he dropped the incel attitude), but doing the same thing here would destroy the original premise. Then again, not dropping the suspicions is gonna get very repetitive very fast, so I wonder where they will be going with this.

1) Kiyoshi: That was kinda wild. Detective, delinquent, romance, and now an occult mystery. I do like how much is happening here, especially when so many other series are stuck in long fights. (Seriously though, what kind of parent names their kid "Culprit"?)

2) Dr: So the five most talented are all of Nord-European decent? Good thing it isn't a white person writing this or they'd get accusations thrown at them. And Haiji somehow failed to realise they're important despite hearing they're all well-established specialists. I kinda like the French guy, but I'm guessing he has some kind of medical issue with his hands? Maybe Haiji can help him too on top of the wife.

3) Roku: Fastest investigation ever. I wonder how long it will take them to realise they are just looking at a 'normal' family.

4) Drawn: So they skipped the rest of the match altogether. Makes sense. And they introduced the people who were supposed to show up after, probably. It's always a shame when a story is clearly unfinished, but it was pretty good for a "The story continues" ending.

5) KGB: Can everyone just calm down and listen to each other for two seconds? Also, yeah, you're not keeping those two apart.

WW: So ogres have Under Doctor powers too? And we got a very literal demonstration of "pride comes before the fall."

Ichi: He caught the rabbit, and now he gets to do a game of chase. No wonder he looks so happy. I'm impressed how casually he used his spider majik though, it seems he doesn't even need to give verbal orders anymore.

Nue: So his three would-be wives didn't even know he scored a new girlfriend and fiancee in the meantime? They're taking it rather well.

Sakamoto: Well... they did give an explanation. I don't really care that it's bullshit at this point. Good for her, too.

Shinobi: Two more aces? The support people really pulled out all the stops.

Roboco: I thought it looked kinda cool.

Destroyerz: Must be some new hairless breed.

Cannon: I didn't mind the previous chapter, but the pacing in this one was bizarre. How did we go from standing guard to hanging out on a balcony at night? Why put two downtime talks back to back when the fight isn't over? That second one wasn't even urgent, but he abandonned his master for it? What happened to watching the demons, you just let them wander about and summon.. monsters? Boulders? Since when do Regiliths need bridges anyway, can't they fly? You want to "take your time to have a proper discussion" while a nuke is about to hit the building next to you? What??

Formula: It's amazing how apathetic this leaves me. I can tell which parts are supposed to be breath-taking action scenes / intense character moments, but I feel nothing and I can't even explain why. I'm usually able to cry over a single drawing, so this level of disconnect is really rare for me.

Issue #41:

(This was a lesser week for me. In the last round, Graykeith would've ended up in 4th place.)

1) Graykeith: Translator Daemonica
The assistent looks a lot more lady-like, the wolves have turned into bats and the girl is more persistent about becoming his apprentice. Aside from that, it's pretty much identical to the one-shot. Which doesn't have to be a problem, but the things that made the one-shot stand out are the translator thing (which is an informed ability, we never actually see him do any translating) and the surprise reveal at the end (which only works once); without that, it's a pretty generic exorcist manga. So yeah, very curious how the series is going to distinguish itself from here on out.

2) Ichi: Desscaras isn't giving herself enough credit. She's taught him plenty during their missions. Also, for someone who's so concerned about his 'kindred', the big brute sure doesn't hold back from destroying other majiks, including his friends (the little guy looking terrified most of the time was a nice touch). Unless of course they can come back from that, which honestly wouldn't surprise me since you aren't supposed to be able to (physically) destroy them.

3) Kiyoshi: This is so not where I was expecting this to go.

4) Dr: Last week he was called Dubaut, this week it's de Beau. And if the tremors only show up during surgery, then how come Haiji was able to tell from the crane and shaking his hand? Aside from that, it's a good chapter. I really liked how smoothly the conversation went, with everyone grasping the situation immediately. I just really wish the author (/translator?) would pay a little more attention to detail.

5) Roku: Huh, I thought the previous week was a one-off and they'd be watching him from the shadows for a while. Didn't expect it to escalate that quickly. (Johan looks so pissed, Roku will probably have to stop him.)
The author comment suggests the mangaka also likes bugs and stuff, which is sweet.

WW: That went fast all of a sudden. I don't mind the change of heart, but he accepted it a little too easily for my taste.

Cannon: Was that a Future Gohan reference? Anyway, this is axed, isn't it? Everything is suddenly going way too fast. What a bummer, I quite liked it.

Shinobi: Not a big fan of the girl. But it looks like we might be learning some more about public safety.

Ura: As expected, this is already feeling repetitive.

Destroyerz: So Vegeta was actually Goku in personality. And that little girl is the most down-to-earth of the bunch, I'd say her level-up was deserved.

OP: Was that supposed to be a heroic moment? Because it'd work better if he actually did anything.

Animal: I'm starting to feel sorry for these creatures who are slaves to their instincts.

That was really interesting. It's fascinating how a few words can change the feel of a story.

(Case in point: remember when I said there was a mistake on the first page of One Piece on the MangaMillion site? Instead of "A year ago, a pirate ship made this village its base" the Dutch version says "For a year, a pirate ship has been laying for anchor in the harbor."
