I was bummed because of the lack of HxH but this was a great issue, even 2B had it's best chapter in a while. Greykeith is sooooo my jam, really rooting for it.

Unfortunetely 2B had very cliche chapter that pretends breaking troupes which is the worst kind of cliche

I am tired of the whole "what if the HEROES were psychopaths!!!" thing but I felt like he came off as properly threatening at least.

Nah, saying that on Twitter as a Kiyoshi fan is wild since the series is also treated pretty unfairly there and definitely not by Nue fans :grin
Of course, I'm not saying that Nue's fans are the main source of hate.. I was just recalling that specific moment
There are communities that treat mid-tier series with much more hostility (see the fans of Kagurabachi or others)

Issue 42/43:

1. Nue's Exorcist
Suo-senpai is the heroine not actually connected to the deeper lore. Shiroha, Natsuki, Ishu, Shitotsu are all related to the Hyo and generations long stories and feuds. Suo is a common girl that chose to fight out a sense of goodness and duty, it's a logical choice for someone caring like her. This chapter shows how she has personal desires now to aim even higher, she's allowed to dream and to be someone who's not just following motions. Gakuro inspiring her to be strong and fight for herself is also about Suo also finding her own voice.

2. Ura
Chapters like this make me think how much I love early phases of romcoms. That point where the main couple clearly is developing that special connection that makes them see each other as different from everyone else. It may not be love yet, there may be no words to define what they're to each other, but you can see that flame starting to burn. It's so pretty and exciting when done right.

3. Graykeith
So much better than the first chapter. At the same time the shinigami woman is otherwordly and sees the world beyond mundane ideas of life and death, her personal desires define all she does and who she is. The characters felt alive here under this line, there's flavor to the situation and how demons are both different in presence, but similar to human and their desires as well to the point a grim reaper is relatable to thousands of readers of all ways of life.

4. Roboco
Will always praise how weirdly effective at horror Miyazaki is. From art to pacing.

5. Hal Formula
I kinda want Terasaka to write an office manga. The meeting felt more intense than the races.

As for others, not sure I like the heroes being so psycho in Hero Destroyerz. And going back to that previous discussion, this chapter of Sakamoto Days proved why Suzuki shouldn't be getting random LCPs like this. The author is struggling for weeks already and they dumped even more work on him. Was it a decent trade to get a simple LCP in exchange for the actual chapter's quality? This is the final battle of Jump's second biggest series and it's the worst looking battle of the whole manga. I'm sure fans would rather have the author healthy and the manga with the high quality art it used to have.

We discuss here why authors at Sunday and Magazine can keep going for longer or come back more often and this snobbish Jump attitude with covers/LCP may be one of the reasons. Share the work with the other artists instead of pretending Jump is so above the rest.

Yeah that Graykeith chapter was more impressive to me than the first. I'm into it now. Especially like how it showed how dangerous his line of work is

That's sort of a given with any popular series with big fandoms. It makes sense for them to have more douches purely by number of fans compared to smaller series. Even kiyoshi would have the same problem if it was mega popular. Battle shonen fans are prone to add a little spice and banter by forcing rivalries with other series. There are a good number of fans in these communities who do take it too far with all the vitriol but that's twitter in general.

Fantastic chapter of witch watch. People really underrate Shinohara's dramatic writing because his comedy is so good. He may be the closer author to Oda in the ability to combine brilliant comedy and fantastic drama.

Not been reading the thread as much so this has probably already been said but Jesus it's embarrassing to let an unfinished chapter take the LCP. Happened with Kagurabachi, now the same with Sakamoto. Like you have 20 artists in the magazine. If one is having issues, and Suzuki definitely has been, give it to someone else surely?

Y'all didn't like 2B? I was surprised by it. Thought it was a fantastic chapter. I love the series and hope it survives.

Machida is going to have a hit his next series. The desert setting was just a poor choice. His next series will be a monster. Brilliant art.

The problem is also with Suzuki accepting it, they can't force artists to draw color pages, so if happens is because he agreed with, if not they would be forced to give it to other series.

I don't agree much because the authors are lower in hierarchy and feel more "in debt" to the magazine itself, it's harder for them to say No than for an editor to obviously not give LCP to an author struggling so much. I doubt Suzuki wants to deliver so many bad looking chapters in a row when he's doing the final battle of his years long story, but as we known from several stories in the manga industry, authors often burn themselves up trying to answer to editorial expectations.

Anyone here could tell you he was already having several issues, but Saito couldn't tell before dumping a LCP on him instead of... giving to literally anyone else that was actually healthy.

Yep, that's exactly what I wanted out of Graykeith (hey I got it!). More interpersonal stories and the "understanding the people who speak the language" that chapter 1 promised. Going at it one small piece at a time is way better than trying to promise a giant world that you won't ever explore if you get axed. Being able to actually like the inhabitants of the world makes it easier to be interested in what happens in said world (I don't think I would be more interested in the underworld market aspect of Towako Nemuri's art if she herself wasn't a fascinating character to see act, for example).

Graykeith himself is a neat guy to learn more about. On the surface, he's a distant ass, but you can also see his genuine great love and reverence for translating. You can see that he has a real appreciation about learning about other cultures and people. Now you want to know the why. What happened to cause this guy to be willing to die in order to translate someone's work? I wonder if there's anything beyond "it's dangerous" for why he's so adamantly against teaching Kisaragi.

I also really like that Graykeith has done a far better job of making the supporting cast feel relevant than Higuma did. Kisaragi feels like a much better implementation of a POV/audience surrogate character than the girl from Higuma; her deadpan humor gets chuckles out of me and her desire to be a translator feels way less forced. The assistant in Graykeith is a good banter partner with Graykeith.

Really happy with this return from Hokami. He's shown real improvement (which is somewhat natural since he's been seven years, but sometimes that doesn't happen...). Hope he keeps it up.

GrayKeith 2nd chapter was really good, better than the 1st which is surprisingly not much of a common feat on Jump, i wasn't really sure the manga since is so typical to have a good 1st chapter while the 2nd already be like "okay", but no, this was definitely better, so kudos to Hokami for already surpassing the first typical barrier for a Shonen Jump manga, and the comment i read, seems like jp readers are enjoying too, so maybe we will have 2 winners in this round? I hope so 🙏
