They're out now, but yup they abandoned quite a lot! It seems the HSU main army is elsewhere though? Same for the Kyoukai and Mouten's main armies, they're safe in other locations. Mouten and Kyoukai came to the rescue with a few units.

And they want to attack again.....

Yup yup, Riboku is a military man through and through, but he leaves much to be desired when it comes to court politics. He's not much of a lover either. To fall for Kaine speaks of very questionable tastes! And quite frankly if that one panel was his peak performance he's more or less useless in bed as well ~

I questioned Rishi's loyalty to Sei when he left YouKa alive after what he did to KanPishi (who I never liked btw, not sure why), but given the recent developments in Kantan, it turns out that was the right decision indeed. Rishi is the man, even if he's hiding stuff from Sei.

And that's just Riboku being Riboku.... I don't know what will happen to this manga when Riboku inevitably dies. The space he'll leave can't help but be huge. I kinda want this battle to extend to many more arcs, I'm not emotionally ready to say goodbye to Riboku-sama just yet lol.

I am definitely ready to say goodbye to Riboku-sama. However I do not want it to be rushed. Shukai plains took an eternity and maybe not all chapters were needed/pacing could've been improved but it is still the best arc or at least second best. Make the arc long, show us all the battlefields more times.

This whole failed Kantan siege was just a way to start the rift between Riboku and the king and to get some Hi Shin Unit prisoners. En better survive this or I'm gonna riot.

dw En and all the captured ones are gonna be fine. Riboku will keep them all alive coz he's good and all, and to make us sadder for his death. Also they need to show us Karyoten did something, if that even counts

Nah those are all corpses. And while she could be dead, we have only seen the lower body. So it isn't impossible they had someone dress like Karyo Ten and she escaped wearing plain armor in one of the 100-man detachments that got sent out still since her last alive scene til now.

Could go either way, depending on where the author wants to go. But the death flags have been waving for a while, and now turns out Karyo Ten also reminds Kaine of her dead sister too. It's dire.

I'd enjoy seeing Ten's head on a spike next chapter but it ain't happening just yet, it has to be more euphoric for me (and i suppose dramatic for the sake of storytelling).

My headcanon is for Kaine to capture Karyo and let her off the hook - only for the old Zhao dude to catch Kaine in the act, detain both trash bins and deliver them straight to the Zhao King. They are publicly executed for our amusement and peace of mind (and if i care enough for the plot explanation for the execution, its because of the spy-manipulated-threat Ri Boku poses to the crown that the king kills the wife)

Yup sadly it's almost certain we're having some repulsive Karyoten x Kaine stuff. I'm feeling nauseous just thinking about it!! I like that scenario from Brandish where they both die together, but I don't think Kaine will ever die. There are some death flags tho when it comes to Ten so we can only hope...

Don't be sad too early. Kaine is seriously overstepping her authority, I don't see how she gets Karyo Ten out of there. She's extremely lucky that Chou Kotsu isn't there, but even so I doubt his officers will just let her go. What does she say, "Riboku wants her alive at his camp"? They are the royal army so I doubt they would take orders from Riboku. And it would feel pretty cheap if she just took Karyo Ten with her to Riboku next chapter and that's that. Something will still happen.

Also those poor tortured soldiers.. Can't imagine being one of the Zhao soldiers enjoying doing it.

So chapter 888 is out(funny number).

Definitely doesn't look like Karyo Ten is making it out alive at this rate, but who knows if we have random Shin attacking the castle or something before the next day when Chou Kotsu returns and tortures/kills her for real.

I do have some newfound respect for Kaine, enemy or not, even if its Karyo Ten, preventing what soldiers want to do to women in war is a big + in my book.

But on the other hand, next chapter/s will be Kaine+Riboku backstory Could go anywhere between 1 chapter and a whole volume.
