#8. Constant fanart posts just for the sake of praising a favorite series is prohibited, this rule doesn't apply for official art by Jump artists posted on social media, they're fine to post.
#9. Don't discuss or hype chapter spoilers before Sunday release, only comment if is related to a series surviving status and do it only inside the spoiler tag.
#10. Regarding rule #9, an exception will be made for when we have new series, in this case, spoilers will be allowed only for the first 3 chapters of a new series for the users who are interested in knowing informations and details about the new series, these spoilers will obviously be kept under tags to protect anyone that doesn't want to be spoiled, so don't worry about it.

As someone who is NOT into at all how much mainstream western movies influence modern Jump works, I think it's fine to keep these influences visible in their anime because it's an adaptation after all. Sakamoto Days probably needed to be more similar to John Wick for the anime to do better and some of the decisions they went for, like the slow motion scenes, go directly against the manga's action ethos. It just looks terrible when you strip away the dynamism. You can't just push usual techniques like that when a major concept of the work is exactly how much the fast pace is baked into the battle choreo.

Jujutsu Kaisen's anime meanwhile I don't think is "movie-like", there's enough variety in the animation and styles closer to other several art forms, including anime, Yuta's battle against Ryu and Uro was exaggerated and fast paced, not realistic at all.

Of course, it all depends on execution and where each style fits; Higuruma's flashback going a court drama movie style was a cool idea as his story is about the weight of reality-status quo crushing his idealism, but it's a bit fair to think of the Zen'in clan massacre as slightly pretentious in how close it followed the Kill Bill Tarantino style of direction and color composition. I'm not against it by itself, but doing that took away part of the emotional weight of the event in the eyes of many japanese fans and I can see that (still liked it myself though).

As for Chainsaw Man, it's a complete misunderstanding of the work itself. While the manga has a ton of influences from everywhere, the director laser focused on a specific type of movie that he thinks is prestigious. This is a manga that is heavily inspired by movies like Sharknado and Evil Dead, it's not "Prestige Cnema Man". And there's a looot of otaku culture in it that was completely vaporized in the anime. The clash in styles is what makes Chainsaw Man fun and without that it becomes monotone.

When the director says "I don't want to be like Suzumiya Haruhi", it gives the impression he doesn't understand basic stuff like how the Eternity Devil is a reference to Haruhi's Endless Eight arc. And I'm not even going into how Fujimoto said Haruhi inspired him to become a creator or how he wrote a whole story as a Kyoani homage, but if you can't understand the work you're adaptating, it's hard to trust your changes.

I'm not against transformative adaptations, don't think the director has to go 1:1 to adapt a story, but I expect him to understand the core or the source of what he's working with to then translate that to his new interpretation. My impression of the Chainsaw Man anime is that the director literally took everything at face value because he likes movies and couldn't find anything interesting to say about Chainsaw Man. That I see as pretentious.

I mean yeah thats what I mean. JJK has moments where it decided to do something different, like its interpretation of the zenin massacre, or even that yuji/hakari convo, but at the end of the day, it didn't dominate the adaptation. It was just in small amounts, so I wasn't really annoyed by it. While something like CSM was dominated by it, and therefore this new vision outright replaced the entire feeling of the original series. And I just can't help but look at the way they're talking about the series, and how the kagurabachi trailer was presented, and think that its happening again. Kagurabachi is a pretty standard action series, and it knows it, in the same way that Chainsawman was. But I fear that Cygames is getting lost in the sauce here and actually believing the stuff some people claim it is, in the same way chainsawman was turned into a "cinematic masterpiece". That anime trailer does not look like the bachi I've read, it looks like a series that thinks it is god's gift to mankind.

OMG!! That is totally true!! They being held on the 8th floor and even those chapters were named after the Endless Eight Arc. And to be fair, I think Look Back is heavilly inspired on KyoAni's tragedy.

I keep forgetting Ruri Dragon is part of WSJ. Yeah, this one’s another obvious choice. Though I will say that if it wasn’t for KyoAni picking it up, I wouldn’t be that sure it could get its momentum back. Ever since after the hiatus it lost a good chunk of its popularity. But— KyoAni took it under its wings, it’s bound to get big. Not saying something like Lucky Star/K-On/Clannad’s levels, but perhaps something more like Bocchi/Maid Dragon’s
popularity

I think some of its themes will resonate very well with an young and even adult audience, specially Ruri's moments with her mother on the first couple of chapters. So it can be really big.

Well, I'm not a Kagurabachi fan, so it's hard for me to judge. But the manga does frame the battles closer to action movies than most series do, I think Hokazono did say that was the inspiration to his paneling, didn't he?

Anyway, my impression of the style was always basically that he took "how Hollywood interprets japanese action" and translated it back to manga. This was an unique selling point as a new idea that brought something fresh even to japanese fans. I guess the anime may be trying to keep this whole cycle of "retranslations" as a concept, but for something in motion they have to change some things in how the action is presented and how to properly present tone.

Can't say if it'll appeal to how you feel about the manga, but I think most fans will like it even in Japan, as that influence is stronger and more obvious. At least I don't think you'll get complaints like CSM and Jujutsu got, but who knows.

Anyway, my prediction for the next issue is as follows:

For lead issue and main cover would be Between Ichi the Witch, Shinobi Undercover or Kagurabachi. Leaning a bit towards Ichi because of its volume cover announcement.

For Color page I think it could be Exocist Kiyoshi-Kun, Doggie Dog World(GFC 2th) and may e a wildcard between either Animal Signal or Under Doctor, just for the hell of it.

Am curious to see if we see the rest of the Gfc participants supposedly joining .

I thought you were saying that just for MHA. But I think they will do that before Jump Festa and maybe the stage will have Ruri's seiyuu. KyoAni is set to livestream their works for the next year somewhen on October, maybe a week after the end of their current anime being aired.
