Is it that surprising? I read manga to the end despite not liking it much anymore just to know where it ends. Because I was once invested. One chapter when it drops is better than reading it in a bulk when you don't enjoy it much but still want to know where the story goes. Tate no Yuusha comes to mind...

I don't see it as harshly as you, since OP still gives me enjoyment and a good chuckle here and there (and I'm a sucker for world building and conspiracy type of stories), but I get the sentiment. There're couple books I read or shows I watched which I didn't quite like anymore but still finished just to know the ending. But maybe the weekly release isn't just for you? Drop it and come back to it in a year?

I did that with One Piece anime and being able to binge it when in mood was a nice change.
Weekly release doesn't bother me at all. It takes like 5 minutes to read a chapter. It's just that these past few chapters have felt very "meh" for an arc climax. Binge reading can take a whole lot of time. I don't have a lot of spare time. Reading the weekly release is the best strategy for me.

To be fair, the GK do seem kind of weak so far. Sommers and Killingham are getting straight up bullied by Zoro and Sanji. Sanji decapitated Killingham with a kick.

Usopp of all people managed to blow off the top half of Gunko’s body twice now.

Zoro was at least kind of struggling against Lucci like 2 days ago, but he’s just playing around with Sommers.

The GK seem like a joke. All they have going for them is their regeneration. They are basically the new Logia users, but they don’t even have the raw power of actual Logia users.
That's just the consequence of them having regenerative powers and the paradox that it creates. Oda can show more graphic violence because they are immortal and regenerate but that makes it seem like they take more damage/ are weaker.

To be honest,,, i admit the same,, but i tought even they being weak, the Swords would make a WHOLE WORLD of difference,, even more than the BUFF,,,,himself. So far Sommer's sword ,, considering is a freaking legendary 900 years sword,, revived by Imu's itself,,doesnt seem to be a HUGE issue for Zoro,, i tought it was goin to cause lot more trouble,, more than Summer's itself and his D.F Buff... but doesn't seems to be the case.

What's that answer? I would certainly welcome a real fight and Zoro struggling or something. Here the chapter does not change anything compared to the previous one. Oh no wait, Zoro put on his bandana....
There is no change in dynamic compared to the previous chapter whatsoever, nothing. Just the bonus of an asspull Mihawk flashback that makes the all thing worse. At least against Daz Boness, Zoro didn't understand what his master was teaching him. Here I mean... come on, as if he never heard or saw haki
One thing is hearing it the other is experiencing it. Zorro is not the theory type. He needs to experience it first hand. Right now he tries stuff and sees what works well and also remembers some statements that make more sense to him now. He also saw that the hand is not regenerating so he knows hes doing something right.

Well well well. At first I said this:

Bro will realize his powerup already happened a couple arcs ago hahaha. It was so awesome his powerup has to be reintroduced lmao. All laughs aside though, this is underwhelming for me because...I mean because Zoro Vs King already happened.
Aaand I still feel the same. Still underwhelming. But does the fight look cool? Yes. Do I get to see Sommers suffer and get scared literally of death? Yes!

So I am actually really looking forward to the release! Glad the art part of all this is able to rehype the situation for me even if the story is a bit lacking at the moment.

He's not really struggling though.
First time he's really trying and all it took is to remember what Mihawk said that particularly random one time.

I'm pretty surprised someone like Zoro, of all people, didn't try to master this from the get-go.
He faced stronger opponents than this clown. He had many opportunities. I don't buy the convenient memory loss. Like come on... A dude who wants to be the world's best swordman since he's 8 forgot this crucial piece of information ?

Just wait for his fight against Shiryu. It will be the same thing but with observation Haki + the struggle.

The reason I'm personally getting impatient is that I know exactly what Oda will do since he does the same thing over and over and over.
One arc, one color of M&M. Same chocolate, different shell.
Oda is that teacher who spent his 5 first years preparing his lessons like a maniac, then spent the next 25 years reusing them with just a few tweaks here and there. And I feel like I’ve been held back 25 times.
It was so cool back then, now it's oozing laziness.

And I blame the Sanji and Zoro stans and powerscalers for all the time Oda wastes "developing" them at the expense of the other members of the crew.

I'd rather get some lore instead of predictable fights involving underwhelming characters.

I'm trying to not be too picky as far as character development is concerned.
WHY Usopp? Is this an inside joke I'm missing? ANYBODY but Usopp. I DON'T GET IT.

Zoro is about to wax ass and I'm reading about Usopp in the thread . .. I guess I'm a lame for this. I give up

Hey, lucky for me i got to read more than just one chapter... only 3 hahah, Oda and his brakes, well can't get mad even almost 2 months without reading.

The one highlighting Usopp was great, a chunk thrown by Oda to all readers who want his series to go in their way, Usopp against the One Piece deepest lore :lmao talking about lore, the hole in Adam will be written in the books of Elbaph as the legendary outburst of the God of War and the Sun God against the most fearsome enemy of the Giants' history, and as the time when both of them allied against him.

The next one was good, gald to catch-up with everything happening on the island. Eager to know about the chest, that tool i hope is something to be used by Loki or Usopp. Since Zoro got a new sword in his arc -supposedly- our boy deserves an upgrade to shatter Imu's resilience for good... still i'm more inclined by the Loki one.

This chapter... is crap. Oda was asked to stretch the plot once again, and made the huge mistake of having Zoro without the usage of Haoshoku, and the chapter is just that interaction against Sommers:lmao one of the worst chapters of the arc, not even killing him on it.
Hoping that the useless Sanji will only defeat Killingham, in the next 3 weeks hahaha. Gotta hold another month or two without reading One Piece.

Holy knights seem too easy to beat once you know the trick ( for the top tier who have CoC). it’s missing the tension of Wano that king and queen were able to bring. At least Imu is a upscale from Kaido.

That's just the consequence of them having regenerative powers and the paradox that it creates. Oda can show more graphic violence because they are immortal and regenerate but that makes it seem like they take more damage/ are weaker.
Hence why you generally only see actual lethal damage done by lower Strawhats against major enemies in these type of situations, because the damages are irrelevant and are getting handwaved away.

He's beta-testing moves against Sommers post-Power Up & legendary sword Gram.
Yeah man, even saying "seems like a joke" is an understatement.
If there's any meta signal that Luffy is going to be fine, it's Zoro's zero urgency.

But I want to point out that I've been saying the GKs are "weak" since the Gorosei, and they were being hard-carried by their regen. The problem is visible in some of the Gorosei too. Because of the regen, they just don't bother dodging at times. This is a problem when the characters can and will dismember them.
Also, for whatever reason, their durability is sub-Paradise levels, so they lose their parts quickly and surely.
The GK we have on our hands now are Glass Cannons, it seems.

For the record, the only two who seem to be battle-tested among the regen havers are the Boar Gorosei and Horse Gorosei.
I understand what you meant - but disagree in this "Glass canons" - clearly Sommers and Killingham as God Knights are ate YKC1+ - they are indeed careless, ofc bc of the regen and the fact that only powerful attacks with coc infused are able to deal damage on they - but in overall, every G.K right now would easily defeat every supernova, every paradise, and almost every new world pirates (at least until Y.K Commander levels ) they are just not really fighters, they are much more like Sanjis brothers and Germa 66 - not drive by battle, rather they are strong bc of all the shenanigans both undergo (Germa genetic modifications, G.K magical modifications) and both fight bc the orders they receive, bc beyond that they prefer to live they rich life in the upper world

Sommers isn't like King, someone who has been constantly evolving through hardship, so this is why his mentality is so shit - but power they have, he whitsthand King of Hell Attacks with easy (ofc, bc of his omen + world sword)

That was a joke.
Usopp used to be my favourite character until Oda turned him into a gardener then totally gave up on him.
I don't even like God Usopp.
Paradise Usopp best Usopp. He peaked way too soon.
I'm rooting for Blackbeard and Ao Kiji now.

Looking at the chapter now, I’m reminded of Zoro’s fight with Mr. 1 and how he struggled to figure out how to cut through iron while fighting. I’ll be curious to see if Sommer’s kicks it up a notch in the following chapter now that he know’s his life is actually on the line here.

Weirdly enough, i think this chapter is sort of trying to contextualize Sanji's own inability to use conqueror haki up to this point. While the usage and applications is the same, actually activating and applying conqueror haki appears to be an intrinsically personal deal. As in, from a mechanical point of view mindset and method required for luffy to imbue his attacks with conqueror haki is fundamentally different from everyone else. Mental state seems of special importance. Oda is really building up to whatever mental nonsense is holding sanji back.

I think,,a way to argue he CAN'T it was cause he is UNABLE to hit Womans to begin with ,,, such mental state,, seems like something impossible to use COC,, however that doesn't apply to males-- Killingham being one, so for that side it will be a matter of KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS, in a similar way to ZORO, or anyone triying to grasp it...

He is goin to grasp it most likely for #1197 ,,,or a little bit more ahead... Zoro ALWAYS have to Grasp it first...

I've gone over that a number of times but I can't buy the reason Sanji hasn't used conqueror haki being his unwillingness to hit women. The series appears to be building up to the mental state required to use it being unique to each individual. But at the same time it is about willpower, the capacity for the user to be unapologetically himself. Perhaps even a personal disposition to impose your will upon others. So the idea that Sanji can't be a conqueror because he refuses to hit women seems increasingly silly. There's something deeply personal in Sanji that is keeping him from asserting his will. Sanji doesn't avoid hitting women because of trauma, he avoids it because of his own sense of pride. If a conqueror doesn't want to hit women then a conqueror doesn't hit women. Because a conqueror does as a conqueror damn well pleases. I think Sanji hitting women could even go as far as having the opposite effect, it'd ruin him forever. It'd destroy his pride, sense of self and willpower.

Sanji has a number of hang-ups, any one of them could be the one that is holding him back. Immediately before he joined the strawhats he actually declined and meant to stay with zeff rather than pursue his dream. He felt his debt to him was too great to overlook. Sanji displays an unusual attachment to his life for a conqueror, early in the series he even noted how crazy zoro and luffy were in their way of pursuing their dreams and unwavering conviction. There's also his training at okama kingdom which while effective dealt some serious blows to his pride and sense of self. And naturally his family which caused him nothing but grief and he mostly despises.
