As has been stated many times, Jump will never move *Kagurabachi* elsewhere unless the situation becomes truly, *truly* serious.

Moreover, a monthly release schedule would make the story even slower and more disjointed than it already is.
You think the story is slow and disjointed?

The story landing in the back of the magazine implies that the story has significant foundational issues that haven't been corrected; you don't see for example Shinobi Undercover in last place.

2B is stuck at the bottom and I've never seen you talk about the significant fundamental problems. It's true that Shinobi Undercover isn't at the bottom, but it also doesn't have sales above 20K.

You kept saying that Kagurabachi wasn't fun and sparked a huge discussion about Nue being better than Kagurabachi because it was more "fun," and in the end, Kagurabachi is more successful than Nue.

Sales won't save a series, position does. Even in this ToC, Nue's exorcist is several positions above Kagurabachi so it's very clearly doing something that is working that Kagurabachi isn't doing.

Generally you see people have more fun with Nue's Exorcist than with Kagurabachi with even anecdotally this whole two days have seen Kagurabachi fans assume a defensive or worried position (health, magazine transfers, different scheduling, or highlighting significant writing and character design flaws) instead of a "fun" position.

From what I see, it appears Kagurabachi doesn't have that much appeal for readers to vote on the TOC.

That's what you've been saying since 2023, and now it's 2026 and Kagurabachi is still in the magazine. Sales matter, Shark, Jump isn't a charity.
If Exorcist of Nue is so fun, why don't people buy the tankobon volumes?
Why couldn't Nue surpass 40K sales?
Even Undead Unluck spent a lot of time at the bottom and lived for more than 200 chapters.

Those who lack appeal are those who can't sell more than 30k even after surviving for that long.

So true guys! The best-selling manga in the whole industry yet to receive an anime adaptation is going to get cancelled because it's unpopular : (((

To me this whole thing is an obvious combination of:
  • Hokazono struggles with the week-to-week output, he's doing shorter chapters and getting less colour pages and extra promotion as a result, and if late delivery is affecting the print order of the magazine then it there's a good change it's placed where it can be rather than where it should.
  • This arc has been generally less exciting than what's come before as well, which hasn't been helped by a poorly placed hiatus in the middle which might be affecting its performance as well.
  • The magazine will not give up the series that's going to be their second best selling series once Sakamoto ends soon, period. They will not transfer it and obviously they will not cancel it. Anyone leaning into this has a kink for unfulfillable fantasies that they want to be tickled.
  • Kagurabachi anime is coming out in April 2024 and will be the only new series likely to break into the Top 10 of the Oricon of 2027, it will likely get more promotion and higher TOCs around this time, as is always the case with ongoing series. It's probably going to be the breakout hit of the year, both in Japan and overseas.
  • It will remain a flagship of the magazine alongside One Piece and Ichi the Witch for the foreseeable future in a post-SD/BB era.
Sales won't save a series, position does.
I'm getting flashbacks to those times where your favourite new series would be at the bottom of the TOC and obvious contender to be cancelled and you would profess that it was placed there because it was actually going great and they wanted to get readers attention to the end of the magazine.

So why has Kagurabachi not reached top5 on TOC since a long time ago?
A long time?

You talk as if the manga wasn't on hiatus for a whole month.

Kiyoshi and Nue also spend a LONG TIME without being in the top 5, but neither of them went on a month-long hiatus.

The problem lies with RealityChecker and SharkBait, who insist on the premise that kagurabachi is unpopular. And Shinuki fuels this eternal debate, insisting on the opinion of the Japanese.

I'm just going to assume everyone is doing this as a performative discussion to increase the number of pages. We're reheating 2023 discussions now to bring back the old days of dozens of pages of Kagurabachi discourse.

I am not saying it is unpopular, I am just saying there is a real disconnect with its sales and its TOC. While Kagurabachi dies at the bottom, Shinobigoto, Kiyoshi, Someone Hertz, Roku's House, Akane-banashi and Ichi all stay within the Top10 and Top5 of the TOC, despite not selling as much.

I think that's what Shinuki wants.
I wake up and see everyone still talking about kagurabachi.

You're arguing that it's unpopular, yes, you've been arguing for weeks that Kagurabachi is less important than Kiyoshi, Shinobigoto, Kiyoshi, Someone Hertz, Roku's House, Akane-banashi, and Ichi. It's almost as if you want the manga canceled or transferred just to keep the lower-selling manga.

It's why sales don't matter but position does and reflects it being fun. Jump wants to keep fun series around that people want to read, there's been many fun series that lasted that never broke sales records. There's been high selling cancelled series that went to the bottom and ended early because they weren't fun. Cancelled series still sell for a few weeks after they end after all.

If it were that simple, Bleach would have been canceled before the final arc.

It is because of this way of thinking that sales of the main magazine are falling.

Exactly. The fact that Kagurabachi isn't fun is why it's sitting at the back of the magazine right now. Jump really needs to swap it out for something more fun if they want people to keep buying issues.

Kagurabachi is the second best-selling manga in Jump, and the anime is being widely promoted; "replacing it with something more fun" just because you want to would be a mistake. Especially now with Sakamoto Days coming to an end.
