If you think an Weekly Shonen Jump mangaka missing deadlines, submiting 15 pages chapters and even getting an hiatus is normal, then you know you.
Black Clover had chapters with 15 pages and lasted for over 300 chapters. Undead Unluck was at the bottom for a long time and lasted over 200 chapters. But you want to pick on Kagurabachi, and then I'm the one hated for saying what I think about the manga you like.

As someone who really likes KGB too, it definitely is dealing with issues. The TOC is not good (granted may be due to Gintama-esque deadlines problems), JP online reception (granted not always representative) does not like the flashback (I think it’s awesome), and there have been missed deadlines, incomplete drawings, and shortened chapters. It doesn’t mean the series is bad (and I think JP will reverse course in reception to the flashback when the series is completed) but it’s not in its most ideal, fully realized position and more importantly Hokazano is not in his best health right now.

Suzuki and SD are a prime example of an author starting off super strong but start to lose gas at the end (something he himself admitted that he was dissatisfied how the last arc or two went).

I think Jump should give an author a 1-2 week break when they complete an arc or like once every 3ish months if they’re a solo practitioner (and not already receiving the break schedule). More importantly it’s extremely concerning that Hokazno got a length hiatus and still came back struggling to complete chapters.

Because it was transferred to Jump Giga after some personal strugles from the author himself.
It was only transferred after three hundred chapters, and I haven't even mentioned My Hero Academia or Jujutsu Kaisen, which also went through something similar to Kagurabachi and weren't transferred or canceled.

You treat the reviews and TOCs as absolute truth, but let's be frank, this is a TOC where, for example, Under Doctor came in third and Animal Signal came in sixth (and that one only sold 5K), I'm sure nobody here, except for the Boruto defender, believes that Under Doctor will survive for more than a year, let alone have an anniversary cover.

I could even talk about Animal Signal, but that's comedy, so it's protected in this forum.
Besides, up until the Irishima arc, Kagurabachi was being well received, so it's not like the whole arc was being poorly received by the Japanese.

And another thing, you mentioned Sakamoto Days, so the manga is in its final battle, even with the author's dragging it out, the manga should end this year, and you think Jump can afford to transfer Kagurabachi?

They haven't even found a replacement for Blue Box, let alone Sakamoto, all they're doing is investing in comedies and nothing else.

You're in a WSJ forum, why are you so dismissive of the toc lol. Especially in this case, these rankings are very cut and dry. The two chapters ranking for Under Doctor and Animal Signal are the start of the brain surgeon arc (which was pretty good), and the wombat girl chapter. Its not exactly surprising that both of them led to a rise in the rankings, those were two pretty standout chapters.
Routinely we've seen series like Roboco, Witch Watch, and Chojo bounce around the toc, and yet all 3 of those lasted over a year, with 2 of those lasting 4+ years. When Chojo (a 10k seller) got 2nd for a chapter in its 30s, was it a sign that somehow the toc was illegitimate? Because Chojo was ranking above Bachi's Auction there. The same auction arc that had a #1 placement just a few weeks earlier. Or is it just that it had a standout chapter? How is it that hard to believe that this happens for series like Under Doctor and Animal Signal.
Also, there is genuinely no way that Under Doctor does not reach its anniversary (and if it does, its most likely getting a cover). There's a ton of other series in shakier spots than it is.

And finally on the bachi talk, Irishima (which I personally think was the worst part of the arc, tbh I'm kinda baffled that I have the opposite opinion than others on that), was 14 chapters ago. It was the first volume of what is now like a 3 volume long arc! Combine that with the breaks + hiatus Hokazono had, and its unsurprising that people are treating the stuff they dislike as the whole arc. 2/3rds of an arc (and counting) is the majority. I know plenty of arcs that have like one standout moment and then are trash the rest of the way through.

It's a "hit" only because you like the author, regardless of what he does, nobody knows if this manga will be successful.
That's why I said "We **MAY** have". Besides, even Weekly Shonen Jump says it is a hit from the start.

You wrote a whole text defending the credibility of the voting rankings, but that still doesn't justify Kagurabachi coming in last. Even if the arc isn't being well-received, it's still not an excuse for being last, below manga that will obviously be canceled (Hal Formula and Canon Master). Besides, Jump gave Roku a second cover and color pages to Animal Signal before the release of their respective volumes. Roku performed poorly for a manga with a second cover, and Animal Signal only sold 5k, so yes, I will question the TOCs.

Don't try to downplay a color page at chapter 8. If you wanna go back, Aliens Area got a color page at chapter 7. Meanwhile, Kagurabachi also got its first color page at chapter 8, but you really are picky when bringing Kagurabachi or not.

Am I underestimating it, or are you the ones treating manga like the second coming of Jesus Christ?

Because you treat this manga as absolute perfection. Just like all the comedies in Jump.

Dude you literally brought up Undead Unluck earlier. Kill Blue was also routinely dead last. And yet when people started enjoying their direction again, they mysteriously bounced back. I can't definitively tell you if they were ever under soon to be axed series (although I'm pretty sure they were both below Astro Royale right before it ended, and they were defo below others), but this isn't exactly some uncommon thing.
You seem really obsessed with sales here, but sales are not a direct reflection of toc. Hinomaru Sumo is the big example there. It got a lead color page at chapter 23! And yet volume 1 sold only like 40k. In 2014 Jump!
Series can be hits inside the magazine, but have a muted response out of it.

Nah, the TOC isn't representative of the votes at all, especially under Saito. This is my position for a long time and it's obvious how much more heavy handed he is on it. Made this comparison several times with Nue having much much more engagement online than most of the mid tiers that always rank above it: social media posts, forums, fanart, general fan content, praise/art by other creators, etc. In fact, it won an important fan voted award unlike the other mid tiers. This isn't even mentioning clearly better physical and digital sales.

Now... get that and make it x8 for Kagurabachi. It's literally the most talked about Jump manga besides One Piece. The number of readers alone is huge enough it's basically impossible for it to be outvoted by most of the magazine. No matter how much it drops, it's impossible it was the least voted.

I'll never believe the theory that there are a tooon of fans who vote for other series that:
Don't buy physical volumes.
Don't buy digital volumes.
Don't talk about the manga anywhere.
Don't make any kind of fan content.
Don't have any interest in merch.

But they somehow can give more TOC votes to their series than Kagurabachi fans? Really?

The gap between those series and Kagurabachi is massive. Kagurabachi just lacks that fun factor, and it’s nowhere near being a Shonen Jump pillar. Meanwhile, Black Clover was genuinely fun and positioned as the new king of shonen. It was a core pillar that backed it up with a long-running anime, a movie, and video games. We had it going toe-to-toe with other top-tier series like My Hero Academia in a highly competitive era. Good times. Kagurabachi is struggling for relevance and acceptance in a significantly less competitive lineup.

I'm just going to assume everyone is doing this as a performative discussion to increase the number of pages. We're reheating 2023 discussions now to bring back the old days of dozens of pages of Kagurabachi discourse.
Not enough to reach 1000 imo. I need to start shitting on Nue

You're just describing Shonen Jump under any of the former Editor in Chief lmao!

The things you listed aren't really about "believing" because these pretty much happens and not even only on WSJ, or you forgot cases like Suruga Meteor on WSM having the "best survey performance in the last 5 years" despite not even selling 5k? that's not theory, that's a fact, we got Zumo having a amazing performance inside the magazine despite selling 30k copies in freaking 2014 when Jump was still in the peak of its 2nd Golden Age, nothing you described is any alien concept in Shonen Jump or the manga industry.

We know from the author themself that World Trigger got #1 on the survey several times yet was never in that spot in the ToC throughout its entire WSJ run, which proves bost sides of the argument in a sense.

The surveys are not a completely accurate representation of the survey results, even at the top of the magazine, while at the same One Piece selling the the most volumes doesn't mean it gets #1 every single week behind the scenes, series definitely do beat it in survey votes.
