Issue 47 (NUE COVER) 2026:

1. Nue's Exorcist: Ahem- ANIMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-

...And now for the chapter! The theory of Kurikara influencing Kasha's behavior turned out to be true, which not only recontextualizes his recent buff design and grin, but also gives us even more insight to the sheer power held by Kurikara. It's the first time we see this last Hyo speak, and I severely doubt it will be the last. There's an important difference between the original japanese dialogue and the english translation of one of Kurilara's lines: in english, he says "You had better not lose after that." To Kasha, but in japanese, it's something along the lines of "I won't forgive you if you lose.". It sounds less like a simple statement, or even request, and far more like a threat, like there WILL be consequences for a loss. Thus, my belief in a Kurikara arc still runs strong.
And now, we are back to the original, shota Kasha design. While I don't hate his buff version like other people, this is without a doubt the stronger design of the two. It's sleeker, more fitting for him (literally as the buff one was due to Kurikara's influence), and it just feels... Otherwordly, completely unlike the other Hyo. This is a ruler of DIMENSIONS, he's casting black holes left and right, he has all the right to be an eldritch monster in visuals as well. And speaking of Range Compress, we can see how now he fully fights from range, dropping the Black Dragon Sword in favour of insanely powerful ranged field dominance. If anyone's gonna make the BDS work properly, it's gonna be Kurikara, NOT Kasha.
Garuda, the Yajima Light Blade, is something that even Kasha recognizes, it's so obvious that he was the one who orderes the Yajima's extermination- but from his perspective, you can see why. This ability is ridiculous. It is straight up destroying the same devastating black holes of Range Compress with one swing, and this is a Hyo who completely absorbed the STRONGEST of his own kind as well. The Yajima were the biggest threat to the Fujino, far more than even the Suga family- which leads me into the most important thing I've noticed with this chapter.
Just like Suzaku and Soranaki, Kasha has created his own inevitable demise. Suzaku's daughter, Ishu, was the one that made it possible to sabotage her, save everyone at the hotel, and allow Gakuro to land the final lethal blow. Soranaki turning Gekka into a monster led to her return all the way to over a thousand years later, after Nue had finally managed to create an immortal slaying weapon through humanity's efforts, somethingnwhich was also kickstarted by Soranaki's actions.
And now, the irony is double.
Gakuro, the heir of the Yajima family, the greatest threat to the Hyo, contracted Nue and is here to kill Kasha, the same one who (most likely) ordered the annihalation of the family and made him go down this path.
Shiroha, contractor to Kyokotsu, and part of Kasha's supposed "cattle" that protects him now, is the one who will bring down the Tree, and finally, once and for all, end the Fujino's orchestrated torture. This is why she was unable to achieve Soul Armor to this day- Kazusa and Shitotsu could move on from their tragedy, but she could not. As long as the perpetrators to her suffering remain, there can be no rest for her. Her parents are dead, her old self was shattered, and her childhood stolen. This is karmic justice reaching the demon known as Kasha. This is the moment of her Soul Armor, and the ultimate demise for the bastard.
Gakuro and Shiroha are of the same cloth, through and through. They lost their childhoods, their family, their wills, but regained it back, TOGETHER. I do not think that the volume 17 cover (absolute BANGER by the way) and the feather in front of Gakuro's eye are similar. He and Shiroha complete each other in this arc.
People pointed out the similarity of the two's lives as soon as Gakuro's backstory was revealed, and I KNEW it had to be on purpose. Kawae is a storytelling genius, no questions asked. 13/10, IT'S TIME FOR MY GIRL TO SHINE!!

2. The Ura Files: This here is why Kibitsu being so capable matters. Doing the back and forth up and down the stairs, Inari declaring she'd "give her life" to take him down would not only be impossible without his context, but it also gives such weight to his acts of rightousness going against his supposed mission. And Inari sees that he's not the kind of person who would actually harm Ura, he just lived drowned in Kemono prejudge like most people, MORE than the normal person even. Really good chapter.

3. Roku's House Of Oddities: I heavily appreciate this chapter due to the importance of its message, especially nowdays. These simple things like teaching a newbie parts of their job and being kind make you worth it, you not agreeing with the way society and expectations doesn't mean that you are a failure. Besides that, I like the possibility of a more serious chapter coming soon.

4. GrayKeith: Translator Daemonica: First chapter of the series to actually have me a bit more intrigued. The existence of devils brings a lot of story potential, and we finally saw a bigger, relevant moral connection between magic and translation.

5. Someone Hertz

6. Hal Formula: I'm more than fine with this approach for Suzukaze. He is NOT the underdog anymore, how can anyone be an underdog after getting compared to Schumacher of all people? If anything, he's the boss fight for everyone else.

7. Animal Signal: A D D R E S S M E.

8. Class 2B Hero Destroyerz

9. Kagurabachi: Very oddly paced chapter, and not simply because of the time skip, in fact I'd rather have it than not, this flashback's been dragging for a while now, but not even a LINE from Chiaki? Misaka just left now? And we have not even seen the last swordbearer yet? And we did NOT need a whole double spread for that meeting shot, the page count is low as is, can we NOT do that??

10. Cannon Master: Final boss detected, time to speed towards the end.

I still don't understand why Twitter people are saying Nue is "exactly like Bleach". The plot is completely different. Or was Bleach a story about beating 5 super ghosts and a romcom as well? lol
anything on twitter is exactly like BLEACH for them

the fandom has to have some type of self acknowledgement since they're always treated poorly with the big 3 stuff 🤣

I think Nue's Exorcist being compared to bleach is actually a compliment in my book, being compared to an elite exorcist series is an honor.

Nue is closer to Bleach than it is to Naruto or One Piece and western fanbases are obsessed with everything being a successor to one of those three series. Maybe add in Fairy Tail if they're extra generous with the comparisons.

I still remember when Hokazono hold an interview and they spent the week saying that the mangas behind him were BLEACH BLEACH BLEACH, or stuff like this and in the end it were NARUTO volumes 😭

like why’re they so desperate about it, i’ll never understand

i know they don’t deserve the hate they get on twitter, about the big 3 stuff, and it will always be one of the biggest mangas of the magazine, but it’s funny to see them desperately trying to claim some series had inspiration in BLEACH

Honestly, I kind of blame MHA. We were definitely too spoiled by its extremely fortunate timing. Now everyone is expecting the next great shonen hit to be inspired by MHA/JJK/KnY in some form.

On that note, it took what, 2-4 years after DB ended for OP and Naruto to be published?

I used the same meme when speaking with Nuesmoker about this. We're all clones just like Nue.

I like Bleach. I just don't think Nue is that similar at all. There's some stuff like Rido's hollow weapon that I can see having a Bleach inspiration, but it's far from being the main inspiration. Type Moon, To Aru and D. Gray-man are stronger and more obvious influences and Nue's plot isn't even close to Bleach besides both being about spirits.

Oh right, the hour has changed. These are the comments I wrote last week (before looking at today's chapters).

Issue #47:

1) Kiyoshi: How did they get in? And who's the new traitor? It's someone we know... Not Sakaki, we never saw him wear shoes like that. I'm gonna take a wild guess and say it's the school principal who was faking his injuries.

2) Ichi: What a pain that thing is. Glad to see Ichi finally learning from his mentor.

3) Ura: That was sweet.

4) WW: So nice of the spell to change their clothes too Nevermind, she was overstepping again. Good thing she did though, or the vampire wouldn't look any different. I don't really get why he's declaring a hostage situation and then not using it to make demands, but apparently he's still got more trics up his sleeve.

5) Cannon: A new arc? Nothing feels like it's ending right now. Those are some beautiful backgrounds, and it's good to see our guy is making a name for himself (even if it's with entirely the wrong people).

Graykeith: She missed her calling. I'm glad we got an enemy to confront, but it doesn't feel very tense if he can summon such powerful creatures so easily.

Destroyerz: Why is everyone trying to eat fly agaric this week? It's, like, the one mushroom that is screaming at you that it's poisonous. Also didn't he already return the spear last week? Or was that an energy-only version?

KGB: I get why he seemed like a decent choice at the time...

Shinobi: Yeah, she's been doing more than her part. Now let's see if Yodaka pulls it off.

OP: It absolutely makes sense with his past, but boy, you could've tried to listen sooner.

Sakamoto: Poor Idzilla didn't last long. Going through the different sets sounds fun.

Roku: A bit sappy, but that's the kind of guy he is. I'm very curious about the new events though.

Dr: About time. Honestly, I'm not sure why they didn't tell him from the start. He could've refused himself.

Animal: I'm surprised it took us this long to establish a love triangle.

Roboco: I'm glad Muffin is sensible, at least.

Kawae just recently drew:

-Cover and LCP
-An anime celebratory illustration
-The spread for the poll
-The many extras for Volume 17

And is STILL drawing like this.

Genuinely WHAT is he made of???

I thought Nue's color was outsourced? (not that I'm against it)

The coloring yes (except for the anime one, I am pretty sure that is his coloring), but the drawings are all made by him

So at this rate, it feels like the Kiyoshi school arc will last at least until issue 1 of 2027. It seems likely that there will be 5 or so chapters left in this arc. However, the direction of this arc has convinced me that the series may be around this time next year. This arc definitely will not end in the resurrection of Rushihara, and so I could see another "mini" (5-15 chapter) arc or two between the final arc, and now. This may be me being a bit too optimistic tho, lol.

INCREDIBLE chapter for Roku this week, jesus christ.
I wouldn’t go that far, even as a fan of it. This is just the beginning of many things to come. Overall, still a very solid chapter nonetheless.

The only concern I have is with Nakamura’s creative decision. I mean, we were all going to delve into it sooner or later, but I’m just wondering if it’s too early for this curse. The others, I can see happening first, but not this one. (But then again, I should’ve known it would be this one after reading last chapter. I’m a bit surprised at how straightforward it is.)

I wholeheartedly disagree. In fact, Akari kind of embodies the reader who got attached to Sachiko I feel: "Surely we are in no rush to talk about this, yeah?" Continuously being thought, but the story itself not taking that. He has to face this harsh truth, he is too used to this fun life with all of the curses, he, as well as the audience, NEEDED a slap in the face like this.

Will talk about it more in the review, but I VERY much approve of this approach.
