WEEKLY SHONEN JUMP THREAD RULES​

#5. Don't post news about series from other magazine or publishers in the WSJ thread, post in the series own thread, but it's fine if you're mentioning other series or magazine to express a opinion or reflection about Shonen Jump.
#6. Any tweet, specially japanese, about news, update or some interesting thing about the magazine or series has to come with a text of what that tweet means and also be on topic, if not it's going to be either deleted or i will edit the post.
#7. Refrain from self advertising or advertising Youtubers videos in the comments.
#8. Constant fanart posts just for the sake of praising a favorite series is prohibited, this rule doesn't apply for official art by Jump artists posted on social media, they're fine to post.
#9. Don't discuss or hype chapter spoilers before Sunday release, only comment if is related to a series surviving status and do it only inside the spoiler tag.
#10. Regarding rule #9, an exception will be made for when we have new series, in this case, spoilers will be allowed only for the first 3 chapters of a new series for the users who are interested in knowing informations and details about the new series, these spoilers will obviously be kept under tags to protect anyone that doesn't want to be spoiled, so don't worry about it.

If One Piece doesn't get the cover for issue #50, there's nothing else besides Kagurabachi to get the cover, so there's a pretty good chance a new serialization round is announced tomorrow in leak night!

Are the people doom posting about Hal Formula not reading the Manga? The last 2 chapters pretty much confirm that it will last well past chapter 20. The rivals have been setup and established for the long term imo.

The Magazine currently has 2 open spots. If Sakamoto Days ends naturally, that leaves 3 openings. I could see Cannon Master and Class 2-B ending that leave 5 openings. We know they rarely run 21 series, so with SD, 2-B, and CM ending that would give room for 4 new series while allowing Hal to live on another round if not more.

Both Harukaze Mound & Drawn to the Fire have set up rival characters in their last chapters. that doesn't mean much tbh.

- GFC (which could be filled with HxH again? I hope not tho: they can save that for Spring 2027)
- maybe a temporary 21st spot? please? yu saito please. (granted this could also just be HAL FORMULA)
I'm unsure about Class 2-B; don't see how it could end in 2-5 chapters but like its Class 2-B so in some stupid way it could. Still doubt it tho

As for the series on the Cover for Issue 50 - If it isn't One Piece or Kagurabachi then maybe Someone Hertz again? Would love a final WITCH WATCH cover; similar to The Elusive Samurai last year where it got a Cover late into the year for the Climax but probably also to make up for it not getting a anniversary Cover since it was close to ending.

I still think it will be batch with 3 new series, with SD, Cannon & GFC out, so we'll have 20 series again. Can't really see Hal Formula & Class 2-B leaving yet, probably in the batch after that, with Witch Watch maybe.

Still think it's one of the more unfair things Nakano did. A new series is just going to take away any potential spotlight your entry could get since people care way more about a new series. Debuting two new series makes it even worse.

A new batch being revealed tomorrow would be unlikely, but I would take it...
I'm just hoping that we'll finally get a (unserialized) GFC winner in this batch & it'll be more rookie-centric in general, because this year brought us only 3 new guys (UD, Alien Headbutt & Cannon Master) & 8 returnees with half of them being done by well-established authors (Kinato, Roku, DttF, Class 2-B, AS, Hal, Ura & GrayKeith). It has been making me really impatient to see how the new generation of rookie mangaka have been doing & want to see more of them in this new batch.
Plus, with GFC happening, it would be really stupid of Saito to start it only to give us yet another all returnee batch with a big name vet returning for the 4th time in a row & having 4 unserialized winners stacked up instead of giving us a winner that doesn't have a series yet & more rookie authors, with only 1 returnee, who is an axed author that has never saw success at all yet.

If we're getting GFC this year not too long after HxH's leave for the series' slot & we get a batch of new series right after it's done with a GFC winner in that batch finally getting serialized, I would like to suggest who I think that mangaka should be:
Tabigoro Kuji, the 2023 GFC Winner

I would like you guys to hear me out on this one, because I feel like that they might be the best choice as we've just got 2 romance oriented series done by big name mangaka via Animal Signal & Ura's Report, and the 2 other unserialized GFC winners have done so with romance oriented one-shots (Shirosaki with Loveday Sezaki-san & Hakase with Signal All Red) while Kuji has done more fantasy/action based stories such as Canvas Terra & Beast Summon. If either Shirosaki or Hakase debut with a series based on their one-shots soon, it could risk oversaturating the magazine with rom-coms or romance adjacent series & get axed in favor of either Animal Signal or Ura. If Kuji gets serialized, they would only have to worry about competing with the new favorite Ichi, the struggling Cannon Master & the brand new Grey Keys (One Piece is its own entity at this point) for the fantasy demographic in Jump.

I also already gave my take on who I think the unserialized GFC winner should be & to make things a bit interesting, which of the 2 one-shots in the magazine would you like to see Kuji go with as their debut serial, depending on if Kuji doesn't go with a different idea for their first series?
I'll go first:
I think it should be Kemono Kuru, because I feel as though the concept & power system (people can call upon the power of a single beast to fight) potentially lends itself better to a long term serialization than Canvas Terra.
Plus, I'm also a sucker for the power system of "people beat each other up using other people" present in series such as Shaman King, Zatch Bell & Soul Eater. Something that hasn't been present in a long while ever since JoJo transferred all the way back in 2004.

I'd rather Horikoshi not come back to Weekly Jump for a long while with a long term serial after MHA, but instead go somewhere such as J+ or Jump SQ (the latter being the perfect vet dumping ground, right now) where he would have a healthier schedule of a bi-weekly or monthly series.
Horikoshi coming back after 3 veteran heavy batches would pretty much be Jump basically admitting that they "tried no one and they're all out of authors", especially as we're seeing Sakamoto Days & Witch Watch on the way out & rumors of Bleach & Naruto returning in the magazine.

Rest of 2026 is going to be sweet. GTA VI and then Jump Festa where we're getting news on the Naruto manga. If we really get Bleach Hell Arc announced in that time period too, it'll be gravy

Real. We should transfer Kagurabachi to Giga. Then do it for One Piece, Ichi, etc. Instead of just a sales floor, we should also have a sales ceiling.

So Bleach returned to be getting hated after all with the final episode? Seeing a lot of diappointment/dislike comments for the final episode because its 1:1 with the manga final chapter lmao!

Different situation completely. MHA ending was a good ending that got ruined by circlejerk reactions over leaks and mistranslation. Then Hori did some epilogues and extras showing better closure & character interactions of fan fav that was very well received by manga readers. The anime is well received because it is standing up on a good foundation to begin with. The anime basically polish and make the manga pacing better.

Bleach manga ending was rushed to begin with. There is no saving a flawed product unless the said flawed product is changed instead of simply doing 1:1. Tybw was glazed at the start due to the changes and extras made. Ofc it got criticism when it is simply a 1:1

I wasn't saying that out of worry that Kagurabachi is not popular anymore, I was saying this out of worry of Hokazono's health. What part of my comment made you think that my argument was out of the ToC?
