Most of their recent battle manga oneshots are just too edgy or aura farm focused, so if we get more battle manga in the new batch, I hope it's something new. Shame we know Hayashi won't be in this one, I trust him, but the other hyped newbies aren't that exciting.

A game manga that could be turned into toys would be nice to see.

Also, would really love a manga based on middle eastern/Egyptian mythology. Sort of like Jump’s answer to Magi.

Jump has already published Chainsaw Man, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Kimetsu no Yaiba, with the latter surpassing One Piece in sales.

I can definitely see Sakamoto Days lasting into January, that's only 7-9 chapters away at this point depending on if it takes any breaks. It's perfectly reasonable that the series could last another 10 chapters or so, sticking around for one more round as Suzuki goes all out with the final phase of the final battle.

A manga based on greek-roman mythology and/or setting. That's actually very rare overall. Regarding Jump, I can only think in Saint Seiya.

Sakamoto Days pace is something that confuses me. The manga has had an absurdly ultra-fast pace almost all its run, but now in this final arc it's being in an absurdly ultra-slow pace. Supposedly it could have 7 chapters left but with that snail pace it can easily be +20 chapters too.

Sakamoto Days is about fights. The plot is fights, the characters are fights.

This is the finale, so Suzuki is making sure he shows off all the fight ideas and settings he has before ending it.

Issue 48 2026:

1. Nue's Exorcist: IT IS TIME FOR BEST GIRL TO SHINE!!! God it's been SO long and SO excruciating. And not just that, it's a COMPLETE PoV shift, that only happensa when we got at least a good few chapters to go through with her (like during the Suzaku fight in the Ritual Blade Arc) so that means Kawae has been keeping something SPECIAL in store!!
Baldie (he does have a name according to the popularity poll by the way, but we still need it said in the manga proper, so baldie it is!) demonstrates what I meant a while back about all of the Fujino, including him, being tragic characters. He considers himself a tool, he still thinks he's fighting Gashadokuro, he only ever cares for the Family's status and everyone's loyalty to it, and god knows if he is even still alive now, he's practically a zombie! Do not get me wrong, he had it coming. He made Shiroha and so many others suffer beyond belief, he carried the Family's disgusting ideas for the sake of duty, he was one of the causes of an incalculable amount of death and despair, this IS Karma- but this is just how he was raised, how he himself was made a tool all the way to the end. And he only found out far too late. Somehow, Kawae made me feel bad for this absolute bastard.
Who I do NOT feel bad for is the rat piece of shit known as Itsuki- the ONE Fujino besides Raisei that was actively complicit in Kasha's plan. And here we see not only what kind of manipulator he is, but we learn of yet another fucked up element of the Fujino regime- a CORRECTIVE CELL. Real authoritarian name for a torture chamber. Five hours of nothing but mental and physical anguish for those who stray even a little bit from the path of obedience and despair laid before them. And these kids would not die due to the incredible healing talismans produced by Natsuki. A crucial helaing method that kept the Bureau standing in the modern day was tuened into yet another torture by Kasha- and Itsuki was the perpetrator once he became captain. And he did that shit with a SMILE on his face.
The results of that "training" are shown even now. Shiroha called Baldie "My lord", and instinctively got on her knees the moment the corrective cell was brought up with Itsuki in frint of her.
That's when the heart of the human warrior arises. She's with Squad 6 now, NOT the Fujino Family. She is Shiroha first, Fujino second. And as if Itsuki couldn't get MORE punchable- a slap. AND THEN A RIGHT IN RESPONSE!! GO GET HIS BITCHASS GIRL!! That Gakuro influence is SHOWING, gave Itsuki the Yajima special, both him AND Kasha got punched straight in the face with just 3 chapters between them!
And finally, after literal YEARS, here we have it- SHIROHA'S SOUL ARMOR!! ...Or the first one, at least. It's obviously not the upgrade that others got with the Gekka training yet, but damn it it's something. Plus, there is an important design detail in it, that being the change with the Insidious Binds (aka her scarf for those who forgot). No longer she is being strangled, she is unbound by anyone and is following her own desires, at least that's what that detail tells me.
Admittedly, this bastard Itsuki is crazy cool, right from the drawing of his two swords, you can tell from his pose just what kind of agility Shiroha now has to deal with. And not just that, but overwhelming power, so much so that she is quite literally pinned to the wall in a second. Lotus Spear is a perfectly natural evolution of Zenri, and shows its ever present versatility more than ever: a drill to avoid being slammed into a wall, tendrils to attack the enemy from multiple directions, and immediately after a giant lance that removes the footing for Itsuki and forces him to take a hit. A very powerful weapon... That just is not nearly enough to make a difference. All it took for Itsuki was a little abuse of Shiroha's lack of info about his General Weapon (he said it's "custom made", so it must be one) and his superior skills and power. No Soul Armor needed, we didn't get the name of his Hollow Weapon, no Shikigami was involved- Shiroha was sadly, COMPLETELY outclassed. No amount of rage and fighting spirit in her heart was gonna change the fact that this man is a freaking captain, he is at the bare minimum on par with the likes of Igari and Doryo, she logically could NOT win this even after getting stronger with Gekka...
But there is a way to win this. Itsuki is not taking into account a very simple fact: Kyokotsu is basically her big brother, and now he may as well have sent her bleeding body right down to his true self, a Spirit so powerful that even a Hyo like Gashadokuro felt the intensity of its presence.
In other words, ya dun goofed, Itsuki! Hell, you even said ""Bones in" the depths of the earth.", you are just ASKING for it.
What I want for Shiroha more than anything is to reconcile with Kyokotsu, her Mama Lil' Kyoko, go back up and show Itsuki what "family" really is all about. 13/10, god I was FIENDING for this fight. GO GET YOUR PERPETRATORS, SHIROHA!!!

2. Roku's House Of Oddities: Big, BIG praises for this chapter, holy shit. Both we, the readers, and Akari, are being forced to face the same reality: the circumstances involving the Akari cursee are dark, and they will need to be discovered. Akari tries to avoid the question with a "There's no rush." In desperation, but it's like the universe itself is denying him of that luxury, not after all the research he did, not after realizing how overly fantastical the legends are.
So, why IS Sachiko, this beautiful, cheerful girl that loves culture, such a powerful curse?
She was stabbed to death. That's it. There was no grandiose villain, no supernatural force- just violent human beings. It's so, SO fucking real, and incredibly raw. The very same girl that he talked about manga with, is there because she was just stabbed to death.
And Akari's expressions are nothing short of haunting. You gotta remember this about him- he is a person who DEEPLY cherishes all kinds of life. He looked after a random caterpillar with care for crying out loud. And now he has to face a girl who was coldly murdered for who knows what reason and send her to the grave again. How the hell is he supposed to do that?
And that paneling, goddamn is it powerful. That shot of the reason for murder actually gave me CHILLS. So brutal, and too real. 10/10 chapters

3. The Ura Files: This chapter demonstrates one thing very clearly: Kibitsu has emotional baggage. He's lonely, with nobody but his boss waiting for him at home. Who knows what kind of hell greeted him during his training as an assassin? Who knows where his parents are, IF they even exist anymore. There's much we've got to learn about him and I love that. And every day he gets more and more attached to his supposed target, he gained a new favourite food because Ura, his FRIEND, made it specifically for his sick self. Very emotional and intriguing moment for Kibitsu.

4. GrayKeith: Translator Daemonica: It's as I said last week- Devils are without a doubt the most interesting concept in thos series, at least for me. We can already see different shades of morality from them as well here. Besides that, the ending was sweet, and it feels like there was finally some progress on Kisaragi's linguistics.

5. Someone Hertz: Very cute to see the Kohai not only get read on air, be listened by both Mimei and Kurage, but also being able to recognize the clear romance going on between these two goobers.

6. Hal Formula: I like how Miharu feels like the antagonist here, an unstoppable force that the underdog that trained like a maniac needs to overcome. The art represents this really well all throughout. As Kyogoku says, WF4 is not his league anymore, and it shows.

7. Class 2B Hero Destroyerz: Mogura keeps being the best character of the whole series. Now that we've seen how these "heroes" operate mentally, we understand the kind of threat that they pose. Genuine psychopaths through and through.

8. Animal Signal: I like this dude, plus, I got quite a few chuckles. Nice.

9. Kagurabachi: Shurin and the concept behind the Mikaboshi traits being stronger the purer their bloodline is interesting. Everything else... Eh. Even that villain spread was pretty weak.

10. Cannon Master: Big kaboom axe battle.

I don't think the new batch will start just yet, but I would be down for an all newbie round (and Bleach, if this is the time). If I was Saito right now and I got to have the one-shots by up-and-comers serialised that I, as a fan, want to see, it would have to be:
  • Canvas Terra (Kuji Tabigoro)
  • Tate Roll (Natsuki Osonoe)
  • The Tale of Zanki the Vampire Slayer (Shou Fukamori)
Mujina Muji remains my most desired to get serialised in whatever form they come. I'll keep predicting it until it manifests. I also think a Yuuta Katou serialisation is around the corner for next year.

Anyway, solid issue this week. Roku's winning yet again with a serious chapter this week. And I will continue to champion Cannon Master because this is some of the best artwork in the damn magazine and this fight was stellar. Kudo to Reiya Machida for not giving up. Desscaras going beast mode is always the best sort of Ichi chapter. Great tension building in Akane, and Sakamoto's final fight remains stupid fun.

Top 5 of Issue #48:
1. Akane-banashi
2. Ichi the Witch
3. Cannon Master
4. Roku’s House of Oddities
5. Sakamoto Days
Honourable mentions:
6. Kagurabachi
7. Under Doctor
8. Animal Signal

Varying levels of good:
9. Me & Roboco
10. Someone Hertz
11. Graykeith: Translator Daemonica
12. The Ura Files
13. Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi
14. WITCH WATCH
15. Nue's Exorcist
16. Shinobi Undercover
17. Hal Formula

Just okay:
18. Class 2-B: The Hero Destroyerz

For my prediction of issue 50.

I say its a coin flip between Kagurabachi, One Piece or something out of left field like Witch Watch for the lead cover and color page.

for color pages I would say, the last gfc entry, someone hertz and maybe the likes of greykeith.
