A loophole around the ability? I can't imagine that working because the ability should know Lancelot's intention behind the attack to harm Diodora , unless Diodora was "geniunely" a collateral damage in the area.

Besides, Gawain says "Despair" works on attacks fueled by negative emotions ,which means not necessarily against Diodora based on her explaination and all of Chaos Lancelot's attacks are driven by "Malice"—whether directed at Diodora or everything else.

Even if Lance couldn't harm him, what does it matter? What can Diodra do to him? It's only a "counter" if it actually counters anything in a meaningful way. Unless you wanna suggest Lancelot is a complete glass cannon who can't even take a single of his own attacks.

Funny, I was thinking about it a few days ago. But Lancelot can stop his bloodlust for a moment and kill him. Or just ignore him and focus on AoE.

Since magic stops working once you're dead despair might not have time to activate if Catcelot instantly crushes Diodora's head.

Additionally, I think that yes, collateral damage of a sufficiently large scale is enough to bypass Diodra's magic. If you perish miles away in a massive blast radius you cannot argue that Lancelo specifically targets you out of malice. He likely wouldn't even be aware of every individual casualty in his sphere of influence.

In battle, negative emotions are generally directed at the enemy, but fighting in general isn't necessarily about having negative emotions.

That's why Diodora mastered the art of ragebaiting and trash-talking—to get his opponents to have those negative emotions.

However, it's only in Chaos Lancelot's case where all of his attacks are driven by world-ending malice.

He can't turn that off; he can barely contain it. So, it feels like Nakaba created Diodora's ability specifically to counter Chaos Lancelot.

Even if it worked, Lancelot regenerates, and all you have to do is perform an area attack.

The Capital of the Dead is supposed to be the realm where the souls of good people go, while Purgatory is where the souls of bad people go.

Since both are afterlife realms, they should only be destroyed after everything else has already ceased to exist.

Don't think such thing was said about Purgatory.

Maybe not even Cath can go there easily. You are either born with the rare ability to open a gate or know very high level magic. Maybe Cath is actually exiled from the place. We'll see eventually if he can or wants to go there.

Not every character attacks with Negative emotion , fighters with high skill surely won't get ragebaited that easily.

But Cath and Chaos Lancelot are consumed by Malice , it's different with them.

If it's not targeted at the diodora only, it doesn't work. Furthermore, malice doesn't mean that all attacks will contain negative feelings, unless murderous intent counts; it seems that only feelings like anger or fear are effective.

Let's be honest, Diodora isn't important enough to play a big role in the fight.
