Under Doctor volume 3 has been getting better rankings on amazonjp the past couple of days compared to volume 2(though this may be dependent on the manga being released during their respective weeks). It should do around the same or better than volume 2 which was under 8k with 6 days of sales(I'm basing this off kiyoshi getting 8k that week).
They're even comfortable enough to have a 5 chapter battle centric arc even though medical drama resonates more with readers so they seem very safe. The battle this time also got way better reception than the earlier ones.

Roku hasn't reached the lust state yet so he remains a good boy

This post has inspired me to do some deep digging into this decade's averages of new serials, mainly for predicting 2027 & I found something interesting...
This is how many new series we've been getting per year, for this decade
2020: 18 new series
21: 12
22: 10
23: 11
24: 13
25: 13
26: 14
We add all of these up together & we have 91 new serializations for this magazine decade, which is perfectly divisible by 7, equalling 13. Meaning that it is reasonable to presume that 2027 will have 13 new serials. But here's where it gets interesting in regards of rookie & returnee distribution...
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

I've also been looking through these serials by which ones have been done by returning mangaka & which ones are being done by rookies & I noticed a peculiar pattern
2020: 9 returnees & 9 rookies
21: 6 returnees & 6 rookies
22: 4.5 returnees & 5.5 rookies
23: 5 returnees & 6 rookies
24: 8 returnees & 5 rookies
25: 3 returnees & 10 rookies
26: 10 returnees & 4 rookies
If we add them up together
We have 45.5 vets & 45.5 rookies joining the Weekly Jump line-up this decade
This unusually returnee heavy year has ironically made the weight between rookies & returnees exactly equal
--- Double Post Merged, ---

Meaning if 2027 were to continue to keep these averages perfectly consistent, it would have to premiere 13 new series this year:
6 by veteran/returning authors
6 by complete rookies
1 by a vet/rookie duo
This begs the question who is the 6 or so veterans everyone expects to come back in 2027? Kishi for the short serialization feels like one and kubo for hell arc feels like another. I don’t like Furudate or Goutouge start anything until the animation for their series’ is done; similar with Mashle and Undead’s mangaka’s. I think Kawaguchi of Otr could return with a serialization of his one shot. I could also see Komi of Nisekoi. From there, I wonder if they poach someone again or if they go for Enoshima of Fabricant, the MMYY guy, etc. the big question is whether Horikoshi tries serializing his or if he wants to rest more and toy around until he finds an idea he loves

Curious to see how you rank all seven gfc one shots after the issue is out. As well as you favorite or favorites to win.

Crazy to think that in a few weeks both Kiyoshi & Ichi will move to the first row in Shinuki's sig.
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

Also, imagine a reality where Nue explodes even further with the anime, lasts longer than One Piece, Robocco, and Akane and ends up being the "oldest" series in Jump. Honestly feels like something that has a high chance of happening, even if it doesn't hold the slot for long.

At some point though, Ichi actually will be though. It's definitely going to last longer than Kagurabachi & Kiyoshi, and more than likely Nue & Akane as well just given the scope of their stories, and the popularity ceilings of all 3.

At that point, imagine the sort of juggernaut treatment it'll get.
Worldwide popularity, oldest Jump series, I'm sure it'll get a top tier studio,
And given how long Iruma already is, the fact that it's a writer/artist duo, the scope of the world and stories, how marketable it can be in other mediums, and just how likely it is the series will attain worldwide popularity amongst various demographics, I could see the series possibly even being One Piece length.

And like, I'm not saying Ichi inherently deserves it (no series "deserves" anything), I wouldn't even put it amongst my top 10 Jump series (when considering the first 100 or so chapters), I don't consider it a perfect series.
I just think due to a lot of factors, Ichi is gonna be a historical pillar and a face of Jump for a very long time. Even well after it ends.

Crazy guesses on 2027's authors:
Vets/Returnees:
- Yoshifumi Tozuka
- Haruichi Furudate
- Kei Kamiki
- Tadaichi Nakama
- Yuki Kawaguchi
- Yoshiharu Kataoka

Rookies:
- Taro Kaneko
- Izumi Hakase
- Tabigoro Kuji
- Danjō
- Kinya Hatakeyama
- Yū Odoriba

The rookie/vet series:
- Osamu Ishikawa as the writer & Yuji Iwasaki as the artist or Kaiu Shirai as the writer & Shiki Hamada as the artist.

Shishikabane by Maki Gyujirou: Yoo, that was visually impressive lol I thought that the preview art was good but didn't expect the actual chapter to have such a intense and detailed art/drawing, the author does need to work a bit more with the face angles, some angles are just a bit inconsistent but overall this guy is quite impressive for a newbie, he is specially good with drawing intense scenes, evoking that intensity feeling which gives a lot of points to him because this one shot story is one of these that have pretty impactful/tense scenes since it's about hunting dangerous creatures at night, so the guy being able to draw such intense hunting against danger animals like giant bears is great, about the story, it seems to be pretty simple actually, you have the mc from the color page and 2 other characters, one with black hair and older dude, their hunters, they're driving in the mountains, they found a guy, or basically half of his body in the road, the upper half turns out to be "zombified" and attacks them, he was killed by animals but doesn't seem to be normal animals, they look "Zombie-like",so they hunt the animal in the forrest that did that to the guy and the one shot is pretty much them hunting at the night, like i said, the intensity of the action & horror scenes are really well done, and the guy really knows how to draw animals, just so you guys have a idea, one of the best pages of the one shot:

Crazy art, also talking about the artstyle, the way he draw human characters are pretty "Hokazono" coded, i wouldn't be surprised if this author worked as a assistant in Kagurabachi because it really feels like it's a reference in the way he draw faces, like this example:

Anyway, i can't really criticize the writing and etc since i don't read, but i don't think the story itself is the main point of this work, it's petty simple, is the art, this is the highlight which for a complete newbie, he's already impressive, of course needs some refinement here and there, like i said, the drawing in the faces & angles are a bit inconsistent, but overall really great, this guy is definitely going to debut at some moment, he's nearly ready already, is someone to keep a eye for a future action series 👍
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

This was actually a pretty good Golden Future Cup, plenty of good potential authors for the future, at first i was like lukewarm about the return but Saito & cia did bring the guns, so without properly reading translated i can't really judge who is really better than who, the thing i can say is that Cursed Case was easily the worst and still wasn't even terrible or anything, just pretty "meh", outside this one, everybody else was pretty interesting, different and each had their strong points compared to the others.

Issue #49:

1) WW: See? Thinking things through is where it's at. I wasn't expecting the author to bring back the series' silly side in such a way.

2) Graykeith: This is the first time I found myself wishing the chapter was longer. Great set-up with the little guy. That book sounds like trouble.

3) Roku: I'm so glad he decided to be an adult about it. Now they can work on it together. (Not sure what's going to happen if she remembers though...)

4) Cannon: They ARE good! Ur understood he wanted to change opponents without him having to spell it out, and they both went for the killing blow without hesitation. It's nice to see professionals acting like it. Looking at you, Animal Signal

5) Kiyoshi: Impressive. I hope Hitsugi won't get in trouble, though if he can keep the kid away from the barrier team, that's a good thing.

Shinobi: Figured. I'm glad they got to talk, though I was hoping it would be longer and under different circumstances.

Ichi: Makes sense. If you reverse everything, her enemies become her allies. It's weird her sense of duty (if that's what it is) doesn't extend to the rest of the team.

KGB: They got married, just like that? Did she know how the kid would end up? Because that's kinda sad.

OP: Did his eyebrow just curl the other way? What does that mean? Anyway, good job. Glad he values himself a little more now.

Dr: Fixing brain circuits with a touch is really pushing it. I thought it was just another name drop at first, but apparently this time it's serious.

Sakamoto: It's funny we've seen more of his daughter in flashbacks than in real life. I wonder if it's ending for real this time?

Destroyerz: High school power dynamics really change in the blink of an eye.

Akane: How is it good television when they just sit there laughing before she's even said anything?

Nue: Who was he again?

Was really hoping for more comedic chapters from WW before it ends… Well maybe the new gag manga will be funny, nothing in Jump right now has good comedy outside of the occasional Shinobi chapter :(

I disagree. One piece is still king when it does comedy bits and puns, but Hertz, 2B, and Roku are pretty funny too. Roboco will occasionally come with a banger. IMO this is the funniest and most consistent the magazine has been.

Do you guys feel like that in about a few months or so, we're gonna be looking at new rom-com series in Jump the same way that we look at all the exorcism & hitman series that ran here a couple years ago.

I disagree, don't you guys keep saying that the genre needs more diversity when you're always complaining about manga with exorcism themes?

Those manga, Roku, 2B, and Someone Hertz, don't bring any diversity; they just want to be entertaining and nothing more.

And is telling jokes all the time the only way to entertain?
I don't think there is a problem with that. Me and Roboco is still there thriving. But those manga you mentioned have been a mix between comedy, Sol and drama throughout their chapters.

Not really. Most represented genre in the magazine is battle. And most new battle series they start are very weak, meanwhile the romcoms are decent at the bare minimum. I guess I'm the type who thinks series like Osoegawa and Alien Headbutt are much worse than the reputation they have.
