One of the few downs in this forum is the stupid medal system. You have to participate in events to obtains points to get medals if I remember correctly throughout the entire year, though, If you are popular enough you will get many medals without giving in much effort and people would vote for you in every events granting you many points.

The other way to obtain medals is through being nominated as best new member at the special event. they stopped doing it for about 2 years now.
