Alternative Title: What Maschenny is Really After.

Introduction
Many people seem to think that Maschenny's main objective is just a war. That she desires chaos, war and bloodshed for the sake of it. That she's nothing but a blood knight with no higher purpose beyond just indulging her bloodlust.

This is a gross misreading of Maschenny's character and ignores her explicit statements about her motivations.

War is not the end goal for Maschenny, but rather her means.

Maschenny's Objective
Maschenny has never stated in unambiguous terms what her end goals are, but she has given us strong hints.

Before she electrocutes him, Jinsung asked her what she was after, why was she doing all of this to him:

Maschenny replies that her goals were not that different from Jinsung's. That what he wanted is the same thing she wanted. She just believed that she needed to shed more "blood" for the sake of her goal.

After she captures him, Jinsung again asks her why she did all of this to him. Maschenny replies that she has already answered him. They want the same thing. She just thinks that a bit more "blood" needs to be spilled:

Jinsung's Objective
We do have a very good guess as to what Jinsung's objective is.

When she meets him on the 91st Floor, Maschenny questions if Jinsung's rage has truly disappeared:

She then mentions that after his lover died and he found out that the reason his lover died was deeply tied to the Zahard Family, he gladly became one of FUG's demons:

This hints that Jinsung bears a strong grudge against the Zahard Family and perhaps against Zahard himself.

This is later reinforced by Jinsung himself.

After Maschenny knocks him out with her backstab, Jinsung gets a flashback.

Baam tells him that he'd rather die than not see his friends again. Loneliness scares him more than death:

Jinsung expresses the same sentiment, that loneliness scares him more than anything. Someone tried to trap him in a prison of loneliness and he's using Baam to get revenge on that person:

So we have the following bits of information:
  • Jinsung's lover died because of the Zahard Family.
  • Jinsung wants revenge on the person that made him lonely.
  • Jinsung is using Baam for that revenge.

If you factor in that FUG believes Baam to be "the Thorn that will slit the King's throat" then it seems that the the thing Jinsung wants is the death (or downfall) of Zahard.

This is most likely to be Maschenny's end goal.

Maschenny's Means
I said earlier that war and bloodshed is not Maschenny's end goal, but rather her means to that end goal.

This is made clear when Jinsung asks her what it is that she wants.

Exhibit A
Maschenny said:
My goal... isn't much different from yours.
What you want is what I want.

I just happen to think—

I need to shed more "blood" for the sake of my goal!!
Exhibit B
Maschenny said:
I told you.
You and I want the same thing. I just think a bit more "blood" needs to be spilled.
Maschenny then goes on to tell Jinsung that he is silly to expect the Tower to change just by playing babysitter:

In order to realise her goal, she'll drown the Tower in rivers of blood:

This desire, to turn the Tower into a bloody mess. That's not her end goal in and of itself, but rather her means in order to actualise her end goal. Maschenny simply does not believe in a bloodless revolution.

Interlude: The Massive Rupture
Some people think that the below scene implies that Maschenny is driven by nothing more than a desire for chaos and bloodshed:

But that is nothing but a misunderstanding. It does not indicate that Maschenny desires war for its own sake nor does it suggest that her final objective is to drag all the powers of the Tower into one massive war for her own enjoyment.

All Maschenny says in the above scene is that the massive powers of the Tower that have maintained a careful balance for aeons are finally beginning to move against each other:
Maschenny said:
All of these people who have maintained a careful balance of power this whole time, keeping an eye on each other.

Are gradually beginning to fight against each other.
In the very next chapter, a similar sentiment was echoed by Po Bidau Gustang.

He declared to the Zahard and the 10 Family Leaders that "a rift had begun to form":

Later on in that chapter, the Narrator reiterated the sentiment:

That a rift had begun to form between massive powers that became too big to coexist.

Maschenny's Bloodthirst
Another scene that contributes to the misunderstanding of Maschenny's end goals is the below:

Maschenny says that she's been reading the Ancient Books for a long time, waiting for the moment when these battles will unfold before her very eyes. That compared to the Great War of the past, she finds the current peace so trivial and dull.

She then admits that at the end of the day, she might just be a nut who can't live without blood and fighting:

Previously, she admitted that the smell of blood in the air is what got her in the mood for a fight:

That said, all that this shows that Maschenny is someone who delights in bloodshed and combat.

It is an explanation for why Maschenny's means to actualise the change she seeks is a bloody revolution and a war that encompasses the Tower. Because Maschenny is herself a bloodthirsty person.

All that Maschenny's bloodthirst explains is why Maschenny chose the means that she did. It doesn't change the fact about what her end goals are.

Summary
To summarise my points from the above:
  1. Maschenny's end goal is in all likelihood the downfall of Zahard.
    • She has said twice now that she has the same goal and wants the same thing as Jinsung.
      • Maschenny said:
My goal... isn't much different from yours.
What you want is what I want.
      • Maschenny said:
        I told you.
You and I want the same thing.
    • Jinsung is driven by a desire for revenge on Zahard.
      • Maschenny said that he gladly became one of FUG's demons, because the reason is lover was killed was deeply tied to the Zahard Family.
      • Jinsung said that someone tried to trap him in a prison of loneliness for eternity and he's using Baam to get revenge on that person.
  2. Maschenny's means to her end goal is a bloody revolution.
    • Maschenny said:
      I just happen to think—

I need to shed more "blood" for the sake of my goal!!
    • Maschenny said:
I just think a bit more "blood" needs to be spilled.
    • Maschenny said:
I'm going to make this Tower a bloody mess.
  3. Maschenny is a bloodthirsty person.
    • Maschenny said:
The smell of blood hanging in the air is what gets me in the mood for a fight.
    • Maschenny said:
I've been reading the Ancient books for a long time, waiting for the moment when those battles would take place before my eyes.

Compared to back then, the current peace is so trivial and dull—
    • Maschenny said:
      Ahh — that's right.
Maybe I'm just a nut who can't live without blood and fighting.
  4. It is because Maschenny is a bloodthirsty person that she chose a bloody revolution as the means to actualise the change she seeks.

Welp, if the revolution against zahard is just an excuse then this is still just her fighting for the sake of bloodlust. As of now it still looks like she is basically setting things up for every dormant power in the tower to rally behind bam and rise against zahard.

Mascheny did say she and jinsung want the same thing but I don't think the context of that is meant to be 100% clear to readers. Basically we can only speculate there. We also hear from mascheny that rage isn't the sort of emotion that just subsides... But jinsung's rage didn't just aim his fist at zahard. Jinsung spent a pretty long time simply murdering members of the 10 families. To me it feels a bit like the subtext there is probably that both of them are just bloodthirsty bastards.

But it's not. It's her end goal.

She's said twice that her end goals are the same as Jinsung. That they want the same thing.

this is still just her fighting for the sake of bloodlust.
But Maschenny hasn't actually done any fighting.

All Adult Maschenny has done is scheming, manipulating people, instigating events and setting up stuff. She hasn't had any proper or serious fight yet. That doesn't fit fighting for the sake of fighting.

Yes, Maschenny does enjoy fighting, but it's not what is driving her.

Mascheny did say she and jinsung want the same thing but I don't think the context of that is meant to be 100% clear to readers. Basically we can only speculate there.
But it kind of is:
Maschenny said that the reason Jinsung's lover was killed was deeply tied to the Zahard Family and that's what made him become one of FUG's demons.
Jinsung himself said that loneliness scares him more than anything.
That someone tried to trap him in a prison of loneliness for eternity and that he's using Baam to get revenge on that person.

Jinsung's grudge is clearly directed at a single person.

To me it feels a bit like the subtext there is probably that both of them are just bloodthirsty bastards.
This is horrendously wrong and is a gross misreading of their interactions and ignores the entire context.

Jinsung isn't bloodthirsty. He's the exact antithesis of Maschenny in that regard:
  • He called Maschenny reckless and delusional.
  • He castigates Maschenny for stirring a fight for nothing.
  • He's appalled at Maschenny's bloodthirst and bemoans that Zahard's Princesses have terrible personalities.
  • He sees his role as being a babysitter for the next generation.
  • He calls her ignorant and arrogant when she reveals her desire for the battles of legend to unfold before her very eyes.
  • He thought that she was just a baby water snake who liked fighting.

Maschenny herself acknowledges this difference between them:
  • Maschenny says that she thinks more blood needs to be shed for the sake of their goal.
  • She reiterates this again saying that she believes that more blood needs to be spilled.
  • She calls Jinsung an idiot for expecting the Tower to change while playing babysitter.
  • She says that she will make the Tower a bloody mess.

If you think Maschenny and Jinsung are just bloodthirsty bastards, then you've rolled several critical failures at reading comprehension. Of Maschenny's character, of Jinsung's character and all of Maschenny and Jinsung's interactions.

Honestly, it sounds like you want Maschenny to just be a blood knight and so are ignoring literally everything about her and Jinsung's character except for the scenes where her bloodthirst is shown.

Yeah but, neither has been clear regarding what they actually want. The most specific mascheny has been so far is when she said that maybe she was just a fighting nut. Jinsung has never been specific about long term goals. Being a babysitter isn't much of a goal either. Let alone a long term one.

Sure, but she is patiently setting up her fighting. Playing the long game, stirring the bloody pot. Throwing a few rocks at the beehivenest before collecting the honey. That fits pretty well with fighting for the sake of fighting.

Welp, sure, jinsung said someone tried to trap him in a cage of loneliness and whatnot. But... then he went on to murder people from the 10 families indiscriminately. And mascheny called BS on the rage that lead to this just disappearing. I don't think mascheny is a mindreader but if mascheny is right about that rage still being there then it has pretty big implications for the story. Specially if the goal here is to set up bam vs traumerei and have him do anything at all to him. I don't think killing traumerei is in the cards but what happens when bam actually proves there is hope of victory against the family heads and the empire?

No, that wasn't Maschenny speaking about her end goals at all. Maschenny was saying that she enjoys fighting. She wasn't talking about her end goals.

That's his means to achieve his end goal. He's using Baam to get revenge on Zahard:

No she's not.

In order to realise the change she wants, she is going to make the Tower a bloody mess:

Welp, sure, jinsung said someone tried to trap him in a cage of loneliness and whatnot. But... then he went on to murder people from the 10 families indiscriminately.
Those aren't necessarily the same events.

Jinsung that slaughtered the Ha Family.
And Jinsung that is one of FUG's demons.

Those aren't necessarily the same people.

Jinsung slaughtered a Branch of the Ha Family because his lover was sold to the Branch Leader.

This does not involve the Zahard Family at all.

Maschenny said that after he found out that it was the Zahard Family's fault, he gladly became one of FUG's demons:

This was most likely after his rampage and massacre of the Ha Family. When he learned that the true culprit behind everything was the Zahard Family is when he joined FUG.

And mascheny called BS on the rage that lead to this just disappearing.
Jinsung's rage towards Zahard. Not the rage that drove him to kill the Ha Family.

All in all, Jinsung's end goal is vengeance against Zahard. He has been explicit about this.

Welp, that's what any member of fug wants but since the name hunt station the series has shown that jinsung prioritizes bam's happiness over his quest for revenge. In that sense jinsung's desire for revenge has been benched if you will. Ironically if the arc ends up with bam making enough of a show against traumerei that it's evident to everyone that there is at least some hope against traumerei and the other great warriors then it could be him that reignites jinsung's rage. In a "the fight is potentially winnable" kind of way.

What? but it would still be essentially the same event. Not sure of how jinsung finding out about the involvement of the zahard family slightly later own changes much of anything here. In whichever scenario he still definitely took it out on people who were unrelated to his situation.

I think she just wants war to have the opportunity to fight powerful opponents to death.

The option you cinera voted for is not a option is just a method to the final end..
she said: i want the same thing but with more blood
What it is the goal of fug and HJ
Is just kill zahard and the 10 family heads? Or keep climbing as V wanted?
the method is nor the goal for sure..
is just something that need to be done to reach the true goal..
If the goal is keep climbing then baam is the best offer because the prophecy stay that he(baam) going to lead the tower inhabitants to a higher level..
But if they just want to removed the government.. and install another best way is use baam till he broke the 100th floor immortality contract.. and then attack the great families..

Nah, Jinsung's rage isn't getting reignited. It's dead.

Jinsung believes that his role is to be a babysitter for Baam. He's not going to become a champion of FUG again.

No, the only person she actively wants to fight is Zahard.

She's not interested in fighting anyone else in particular.

And she's said that her end goal is the same as Jinsung.

Neither Jinsung nor Maschenny care about continuing the climb.

What? Champion of fug? When was jinsung ever such a thing? or isn't your point that jinsung would have an interest in bam being this? What are these words?

Jinsung joined FUG to get revenge on Zahard.
I don't think I've said anything that contradicts this.

Maschenny was speaking from her own experience with rage. The rage she knows can never fade.

But Jinsung's rage has faded.

Jinsung was one of FUG's demons in the past.

But I said "a", not "the". FUG has many champions. Jinsung would never again take on that mantle.

He'll never again be one of their demons. He's just a babysitter now, but his baby is all grown up and no longer needs his protection.

I disagree with that take. The point she made to jinsung is that rage doesn't just fade away like that. Going further than that, mascheny is relying on that rage (though just in general, not jinsung specifically) to fuel her war. Her point is that that rage is there, across the tower and as long as it is war can break out at any point.

But... what do you mean by fug champion? Slayer? elder? jinsung is and was neither. While jinsung had some manner of respect within fug he was middle management at the most. "champion" of fug is a meaningless term.

Actually, Jinsung already said that his rage has faded. When speaking to Hansung about Baam, he says that rage dulls the senses, but it feels like those sense have returned.

So Baam made him let go of his rage.

What does "one of FUG's demons" mean. Jinsung might have been a Slayer back then. He's no longer a demon of FUG. Maybe he resigned from his Slayer seat.

If ever there was a Slayer of the Ha Family, Jinsung is the best (and only really) guess.

Welp, sure, but it doesn't what mascheny said. I suppose it's plausible that mascheny is incorrect about jinsung in this specific but given the series' current context that seems like a weird plot development. Which is not to say jinsung hasn't been affected by his affection for bam.

It sounds like a pretty hard sell that jinsung was a slayer at any point. I also don't imagine FUG has a god retirement program. Jinsung is a special ha though I don't buy him being special enough to be a slayer. So far slayers and slayer candidates have had pretty unique and special powers and even deep history with the tower. Luslec, who appears to be the leader of fug in general, climbed the tower with the great warriors. White was a soul devouring arie. Karaka appears to be a prince of the tower, whatever that is. Doom/yama are rogue LPB experiments. Doom has the capacity to create powerful armies and yama is incredibly powerful just in general. jinsung seems to fall short with merely losing a lover and his specialness being.... maybe being able to do more than punching?

jinsung is extremely rare being in the tower considering there are only handful of grandchildren of ha yurin. I think being one of grandchildren of Ha Yurin is much better than being a rogue LPB experiement considering Ha yurin is one of top 3 family head. Though i don't think jinsung was slayer at all. He looks like a type to teach slayers rather than being slayer.

jinsung is extremely rare being in the tower considering there are only handful of grandchildren of ha yurin. I think being one of grandchildren of Ha Yurin is much better than being a rogue LPB experiement considering Ha yurin is one of top 3 family head. Though i don't think jinsung was slayer at all. He looks like a type to teach slayers rather than being slayer.
it depends? Not all descendants of the family heads are equal to begin with so merely being a descendant of a family head is not that big a deal in this context. As powerful as jinsung is he still seems to fall short of most slayers and CC. Maybe there's a few more favorable matchups than kallavan though. But still... Yama seems like he would be a pretty difficult enemy for jinsung. White seems just plainly stronger than jinsung. Kallavan wrecked jinsung... Yaratcha with his full transformation seems like BS. Lyborick seems like he'd be stronger as well. That said, I could see jinsung's skillset simply being better against some of the fighters here than it was against kallavan.

And then beastkin... Wang wang became powerful enough that he unsettled the branch leaders in the LPB. On top of that he produced 3 children... Each one made to be special in some manner. Doom to inherit WW's power, yama born of 2 species of beastkin one of which held an ancient beast, and whatever the heck paul is supposed to be. On top of that WW produced 3 consecutive high rankers, 2 of which became slayers.

Add to that slayers generally seem to be special in the sense that they are an afront to the family heads and the empire itself. LPB rogue experiments, soul devouring monsters, zahard's rogue prince, V's servant... Jinsung just doesn't have that.

But Maschenny hasn't actually done any fighting.
She did with Enne Zahad.

Many people seem to think that Maschenny's main objective is just a war.
I used to think that. Now I think she is a minion of the administrators.

But if they just want to removed the government.. and install another best way is use baam till he broke the 100th floor immortality contract.. and then attack the great families..
Gustang helped the FUG to give the first Thorn, gave the second Thorn to Bam and the gift from the administrators: the red Thryssa.
Maschenny helped Bam to absorb White power when Asensio freed the monster. The next step is for Bam to stole the Leviathan power.
The administrators had made some tricks to reduce the gap between Bam and the Ten Leaders.

The workshop killed millions orphans to make Horyang and Cassano for Headon.
Rachel must obey Headon if she wants to reach the last floor.
Ran Khun became regular very young, Maschenny(?) said it was their father and Headon who did that.

How White became regular again?

Gustang said the plan works perfectly even if Urek appear.

When kallavan moved the Second Floor Administrator sent Evanhkell to help Bam and Maschenny came to say Bam was in danger at Jinsung home.

Hwa Ryun, Rachel, Akryung said Bam is too weak. The two last one are minions of Headon.

It is a good hypothesis but you forgot 1 person that connects all the dots to your theory, Po Bidau Gustang. If we look back Po Bidau addressed Bam as Son of Arlen. So pretty much Po Bidau is just using Mascheny as a Decoy. It is quite obvious Po Bidau has been trying to powerup Bam. Remember what he said long ago to Bam? He said go to the floor of death and I will give you the 2nd torn. Now what a coincidence Mascheny said something similar to what Po Bidau said to Bam to go to the suspendum to have Laevatian. As Laevatian stated only the 10 FH conversed and Zahard can converse with him. The
