Manga Updates said:
Lawrence is a traveling merchant who finds a 600 year old pagan deity, a wolf girl named Horo in his wagon one night. She begins traveling with him, and her wisdom helps increase his profits. But her true nature draws unwanted attention from the church.
Well, I read this manga pretty much the moment it was first scanned. Only four chapters now, and it looks promising. The anime is coming out... or already came out. Anyone else read this?

Re: Wolf and Spice

I actually read this, because it sounded sort of interesting. Alot more fanservice then I like in my series, but still interesting. I've never heard of a merchant seinen before, though my knowledge on such topics is extremely limited, and there could be thousands of them for all I know, but it seemed like a pretty unique concept to me. I wanna see what direction the story takes, e.g. whether it focuses on fanservice and the romance betweence Laurence and Horo, or towards Laurence's doings as a merchant, and his journey to take Horo back home in the north.

Re: Wolf and Spice

Well, I don't really think that was fanservice, but more or less just an image... I'm weird, alright?

I don't think it'll focus on fanservice, but probably more on their relationship. It's not ecchi on mangaupdates.

Re: Wolf and Spice

How do they release an anime for a manga that just started? Unless it is already an established story, the anime creators cant really base it off of the manga.I was planning on watching this anime and didnt realize there was a manga counterpart.

Re: Wolf and Spice

That's exactly what I was wondering.

I mean, as far as I know, there isn't a game.

Going to deviate pretty fast...

Re: Wolf and Spice

The answer is simple: Neither the anime nor the manga are the original source; both are based on a light novel by Isuna Hasekura that's also still ongoing. It's running since early 2006 though so there's enough story to be adaptet, I think.

According to wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolf_And_Spice) the story does indeed deal with the trade and other economic factors. It certainly looks interesting, I'll stick to it for a while to see what it's like.

Re: Wolf and Spice

Oh, I didnt even think to Wiki it. I wonder how much 6 volumes of light novel will last in anime form?

Re: Wolf and Spice

Heh, wikipedia tends to be my first stop when I want to find out about a new show/anime/manga, so...

If the anime has only 12 episodes (for now only one season is planned but who knows what'll happen) I'm pretty sure they won't be able to adapt everything though. At least that means we won't have to be afaraid of "filler episodes", right?

Re: Wolf and Spice

Isn't the series like brand spanking new? Makes me wonder if the anime and manga are going to follow the same plot or will it deviate.

Re: Wolf and Spice

I feel a need to ask the most important question for when a manga or anime I like is an adaptation of a light novel... Which is a more accurate version of the novel, the manga or the anime?

I had no idea there was a novel. But to answer your question Imitorar is you really can't tell right now. Best bet would to wait a bit or to read the manga and watch the anime to see. Seeing as how the manga has only 4 chapters so far while the anime has 2 episodes. Hardly enough to see which is the better transition.

Hope that helps you.

Re: Wolf and Spice

I've only seen 4 ch of manga and the entire anime series, but from the general trend manga would be closer to light novels...

btw does anyone know where I can read the original light novel?? The anime was really interesting, and apparently book version's a lot more in depth!

Re: Wolf and Spice

Sorry to bump such an old thread. But has anyone heard any info on groups scanning this? Mangahelpers only shows upto chapter 6 being done some time ago and most of the groups seem to have dropped it.
