I'm honestly begining to think that Enton may be one of the "other" jutsu that the Sharingan is apparently capable of. I mean we all know about the big three Sharingan dou-jutsu, that of course being Tsukuyomi, Amaterasu and Susano'o. And we know that the Mangekyou Sharingan allows the user to extinguish, at the very least Amaterasus' flames. But i'm not ready to call it a separate technique because it seems pretty "natural" to allow the user to extinguish the inextinguishable flames. And i also think that it's pretty safe to add Kamui as well as Izanagi to that list of Sharingan related dou-jutsu as well. And for all we know Shisui's gen-jutsu may also be a "new" Sharingan technique. I mean even Madara himself, the oldest Uchiha and the person with the most Sharingan knowledge, admitted that the Sharingan does indeed still have undiscovered secrets.
And i personally believe that Enton is a technique that grants the user complete control and/or manipulation over fire. Especially since Kishi really emphasized the name of the jutsu when it was used. Meaning that i don't really believe that its the exact same technique that also extinguishes Amaterasu. And like i said i believe that Enton grants control not just over Amaterasu, but control over any and all flames. Because the technique basically means Flame Release and nothing about the jutsu really seems to be Amaterasu specific. Also the way the technique is written, other things, possibly specific actions, such as Kagutsuchi seem to be able to be added on after the initial Enton. Which basically opens up the door for possibly even more uses of Enton. And it would make pretty good sense because we all know that the Uchiha's have very strong affinity for Katon based jutsu. And seeing as how Sasuke is carrying the Uchiha name now, it would make very good, almost perfect, sense for Enton to be "his own" Sharingan jutsu that grants him control over all flames.
Anyways thats just my personal take on Enton.
