I was thinking about zahard's imotality and why him stoped climbing the tower, and if this was to become imortal? And if just breaking the seal of the 135th floor the imortaly contract vanish?

That is what I speculated yesterday and why maybe V did not sign on to it.

Of course this left questions as to why Arlene signed it. But perhaps she did fall for V until after the 100th floor and had buyers remorse.

It may have also been that Bloodmadder did not sign the contract initially. After realizing that Zahard and the rest did and no one would be climbing further, he tried to get in on the original contract which at that time the Administrator added a spite clause.

The whole thing about this that does not make sense though is why was the 100th floor guardian making a contract that allowed them to climb a further 34 floors? I can only think it was a sweetener wherein they had to stop climbing at the 134th floor. It may also have something to do with the key that is now part of the 13 month series and the rings. The return of the key may in effect, negate the contract when access to the 135th floor is opened.

My feeling is that all of the family heads that signed on were duped. You may be right that Bloodmatter had hesitation and so he has the spite clause.

I can see V being isolated either by Jahad on purpose or he left to investigate something and learned the truth. My theory is that this is what caused him to refuse, resulted in Arlene leaving the group, and this loss is why Gustang hates V so much.

One thing we know about contracts is that some are on a floor by floor basis and others are up to a certain floor. For example shinsu based items can be used up to a certain floor without a new contract.

It may be that the tower structure with Regulars was developed on the 100th floor and as the group continued to climb the guardians up to the 134th floor honored the agreement... and then then135th floor guardian refused. Or something happened that prevented it from continuing... perhaps the actual insurrection of V occurred there and this is why they had to stop climbing. The contracts for lower floors were already written but the group didn’t agree to continue on the 135th floor.

I think Eduan clued us in why V is hated by Gustang. V was a person of the people. Probably the fact he committed suicide also plays into this. However, as we saw with the encounter of Gustang and Urek on the hidden floor. Gustang has contempt for the commoners. Eduan even said as they climbed that the Family heads became more distant from the tower inhabitants and the 10 families went so far as to remove themselves from the tower inhabitants/regulars on the hidden floor. Meanwhile, V would interact and treat them well. Urek, Baam and V then would all be similar in this respect.

My theory was that zahard and co did not originally enter the tower to rule it. Rather they went there with some sort of mission. Then given the chance at immortality the heads, except v, chose to take it. And then zahard blocked of access to the next floor in order to prevent anyone from completing the original quest. Arlen and v objected to that and hence the war between them. Odds are there also were other reasons why they didn't advance further that played a part into this, hence why it seems like the war between heads didn't start the moment they stopped climbing.

I am also thinking there is a chance that v was the person who was to become king but then zahard merely got ahead of them and got the contract instead. And this builds to my other crackpot theory, since zhard got the kingship contract earlier it is at risks if someone climbs higher than him, hence another reason why he closed the door to the next floor and threw the key away.

Considering Eduan’s description of them being adventurers and scoffing at Jahad’s assertion he was destined to be king.

Also I reread a funny panel on the Hell Train where the GoG was complaining that the “kids” ruined the Tower and he hoped Baam could fix it. I don’t think the Tower was meant to have anyone rule it, at least in the way Jahad does.
