It's really annoying to get rid of FXs covering speed lines. Yes they are lines and they should be really easy to fix but when there's a lot of them it gets really frustrating and repetitive. I need a quick and easy way to deal with these lines.

So is there any easy way to create speed lines from scratch? Like creating a line that goes from thick to thin. I even tried erasing the old lines and then put random dots and use radial blur but that didn't work well lol.

Here's what I'm talking about, it just takes too long for cloning and regular lines.

Just put a SFX caption under it.

Or overlay the translated text

Take a look here (tips to make own speedlines in PS):

And here (line patterns):

I would leave the original SFX as it is. But that's personal taste, I guess. Just one thing...

... please don't mess with the original artwork so much. Redrawing only where it's really necessary and as close as possible to the source. Nothing is worse then Manga Editors meddling with the Mangaka's work to get a so called HQ - that's not HQ to me, it's alienated. I rather download a low quality scan then a pretty sparkling HQ when I know that the group altered the artwork.

Pen tool + fill path works for me most of the time. Just clone the ends and you have yourself a descending-width speedline.
