Akiyama i have to salute your banner for drawing me to this one.

in a word, BRILLIANT.

so many concerns about our fledgling future of leaving our mother earth is so neatly addressed.

Just started reading it. It reminds me a lot of Katuhiro Otomo's "Memories"(the first story)

How does the manga hold up against the anime? I have the anime box set sitting here and am wondering if I should read the manga first or if at all. Thoughts?

[Akiyama]

Read the manga first. They did switch up when the characters are introduced compared to the manga. At least read the first three volumes before you start watching. Chapter 1 doesn't even occur until around episode 14~15, so the time line is different. I decided to read first then watch. The anime is amazing, they do a great job with the 0 gravity animation effect. Make sure to listen to the japanese commentary, it's insightful and funny. ^_^
