How did the rating go? Enough to have a season 2?
Definitely.

It helped a lot that it was pretty much the only good anime of Spring, since every other major anime was delayed because of Covid19.

I honestly think they'll cut team Tangsooyuk entirely. Bam is under FUG's care, and Team Tangsooyuk is Rachel-less, which seems to be the animation team's main focus. My honest prediction is a Second Season starting on AA getting news from the guy who defeated a ranker on f21, and that mini-arc of him being betrayed by Rachel too.

Then Bam appears at the Workshop with Reflejo's team, fights team Leesoo that ignores his identity, and AA and Rak join in disguise after figuring out Viole = Bam. Team Leesoo has to win the Gongbang to rescue Viole, which happens after they defeat Reflejo and get aided by Lero ro to escape. Meanwhile Rachel fetches Emily and uses her to get around and escape. End of Season 2.

Season 3 would revolve around Hell Train entering, Hoaqin, Rachel's continued failure, and Bam's victory with the help of Yuri. Sacchi, Boro, Aka, get axed. Daniel is FUG's HT guide, and Hoaqin becomes Rachel's substitute Bam. I think even Yura Ha might get axed. Less characters mean smaller voice acting crew. When they defeat Hoaqin at Dallar Show, end Season 3.

Then all things considered, I think this might be the end of this anime version altogether. At the end of Season 3 Bam would meet Rachel and breakup with her once and for all, showing her that he is better than she is, and that she should go her own way from then onward. And that he would climb with his friends for his own motives, rainbow in the back, good prevails, friendship is happiness, THE END.

Two seasons from now, remember this prediction. Lol

I predict they do pretty much what the webtoon does except they add in filler scenes to bridge increase the prescense of the missing characters. That seems like the easiest thing to do. Get ready for a whole lot of Hatsu filler for us all to be puzzled by.

I would be equally suprised if they cut much of team sweet and sour or if they left it completely as is. Because, frankly, I suspect if SIU had a chance to do it over again he'd probably do it differently too. Given where the story is at now I suspect FUG would have been a lot more friendly back then if he could redo it.

I doubt that SIU would want big changes for the early arcs. A S2 adapted the same way as the one we got would be a total disaster, it's impossible to remove Team SNS. Some scenes to tease and remind that the S1 Regulars exist would be better indeed.

I don't get why they would cut anything to be honest.

Team Sweet & Sour is a HUGE part of Tower of God.
And it's not like we won't see the others for very long.
Baam is there from the start (it will be pretty clear that Viole is Baam), and Khun reappear really fast (Chapter 22, so maybe Episode 4 or 5, maybe faster).

And given the success of Tower of God for Crunchyroll, I think they will want to milk it and will be more than happy to have the content for 6+ seasons.

Depends how they pace it.

The tease at the end already sort of alters the original way Season 2 starts. With it not really coming out and saying it was Baam. It doesn't make that completely clear until the end of the first arc. Which even fairly fast would have been like 3 episodes. The tease at the end of the season already undercuts that. I think rightly, as that was not a very effective gimmick.

Koon doesn't actually have any major involvement until Arlen's hand. Which is about 40 chapters in. There is that short bit establishing what he's up to. But he doesn't really become part of the story for 20 or so chapters later than that point. And the rest of the cast doesn't show up until pretty far after that. If they do the next season at a slower pace than they did this one. That could be almost a whole cour of anime. Which is a recipe for a lot of unhappy fans; which is pretty much how it played with webtoon fandom at the time. Except possibly even more so because I don't think they are going to be able to fit things all the way through the workshop battle into one cour this time.

I don't think it takes that much put to a bandaid on it though. Just tack a filler scene or two showing when the other groups are doing a bit earlier in the season and drop the whole "He's Baam or is he?" thing that nobody was fooled by or was interested in. A little bit of fanservice. Maybe put some season 1 cut content in the form of a flashback or something.

Yeah, by my estimation, we should get from chapter 1 to 55 in Season 2 (up to the team switcharoo between Baam and Khun, right before the Workshop) and all up to Episode 112 for Season 3 (after the Workshop/Before the timeskip for Hell train) .

That would mean 55 chapters adapted in S2 and then 57 chapters adapted in S3.
If each season is 13 episodes (or maybe they are joined together as a bigger 26-episodes season), that would be a much better pace than Season 1, which would certainly allows for filler scenes with the other Season 1 characters.

Judging how they sacrificed everything for the Bam-Rachel relationship, and considering 21st floor had zero Rachel content, I'm placing all my bets in that Tangsooyuk will never be shown. Add to it the monetary limitations an animation team has, and cutting voice acting crew becomes more than expected. They are gonna keep it to less characters and focus on what's relevant for Bam-Rachel relationship almost entirely.

Wangnan does have a relationship with Rachel, but only after Hoaqin, and that could be played by any other person in there, even Yura. Imo we won't ever get to see Karakka or Mazino, but Ran and Novick will be there. There's even the possibility that they chose to end it all at the end of Gongbang and we never get to see the Hell Train. They really aren't much concerned with coherence of what they do now with what comes next, and that's likely becauae they don't intend on going too far.

If they don't show Tangsoyook then they would deliberately cut out Urek Mazino, which in itself would require a lot guts because the fandom is increasing despite of the abomination disappointment that is S1. On a other hand Crunchyroll has a lot of influence they're in a position, where they can dictate the course of the series irregardless of the japanese reception. I'm confident, that we are going to get a second season with a new staff or at least a new director from what I've heard the korean fans were more then dissapointed about this adaptation.
