Discussion Unsettling scenes

Hunter x Hunter isn't a forgiving manga. Under its veil of a happy-go-lucky shounen protagonist going on adventures with his friends, we've seen images and scenes that have shocked us, disgusted us, and made us wonder how the hell the anime (and manga) got away with showing this in a Sunday morning timeslot (in Shounen Jump).

What scenes do you think are the most unsettling, from the manga or anime or both? I'd have to say the mandog scene takes the cake for me. It was already pretty gruesome in the manga, but the animation and audio given to it in the anime only exacerbated it for me.

The Pokkle scene was actually worse for me in the manga since Madhouse omitted some minor scenes from that--but still pretty bad.

Hisoka scenes are mostly amusing for me, but I can see where they'd be unsettling for some.

1)Killua ripping the heart of a serial killer.
2)Hisoka during the 4th stage.

Heaven arena arc
1)Hisoka's schwing and his fight with Kastro.

Yorknew arc
1)any scene with Kurapika being pissed off.
2)Uvogin eating the dude head.

Greed Island arc
1)The bomber blowing people up.The manga version was more disturbing.

There are a lots of scenes in chimera ant arc that was pretty unsettling.Actually almost every scenes with the ants in it are unsettling.
1)Kurt and Reina getting eaten.
2)Ranmot acquiring nen.(in the anime, it was more disturbing)
3)Pitou's appearance.

4)Gon raging at Pitou when they met again. If weren't for Killua, Gon would have snap.

6)Netero right before his death.
7) Pitou's expression when told that Komugi was fine.

Election arc
1)Gon's hand.It was the most disturbing scene I have seen.And people say togashi can't draw!!!
2)People turning to mince meat because of Alluka's ability

I have to say that the Pokkle scene was the worst in the anime until now

well for me when the kimera ant had 2 human dogs and killed them... pretty ugly just to imagine that in the real life.

Interestint Thread!
So here my thoughts:
Its not like HxH somewhen just fully changed the way, its just tht HxH had that mood that gruesome shit can happen everywhere.
Some scenes which i find unfitting for an ordinary shounen Manga. Some shocked me - yet some of these sceenes also impressed me in some way.

Hunter Exam:
1. So many people just lost their lives in a gruesome way.
2 Hisoka beheading that former Examiner in the Trick Tower for example.
3 Or Killuah vs Zerleger Jones.

Strong and Dangerous People everywhere - but also the Death is omnipresent. This is why i think HxH is so awesome.

In Zaoldyek Arc
4. The 2 Guys that went through the backdoor and were just sent out as Skelletons...
5. Killuahs Mother.

Sky Arena Arc
6. Hisoka pulling out the Card from his Arm. Yet that he lost his arms without even bothering gave me chills.

Yorshin Arc:
7. Every Scene with Uborgin. In the end i felt bad about him a little bit. Thats why i love HxH so much. The Characters arent just super Stereotypes - every has a deeper personality. Uborgin, even when facing certain death, wouldnt betray the other spiders. That gave me chills as well. Even deeper when you bring in mind the Scenes with Nobunaga.
8. The slaughter scenes - the one at the auction and then the one when taking revenge for Uborgin.
9. Paknoda when choosing to die... In the End the Phantom Brigade impressed me pretty much... they arent just brainless assholes.

Greed Island Arc:
10. Gensurus Killung Scenes... Look out for the Bomber!
11. Razor when killing that Fat Asshole... yeah he deserved it, but damn... the head exploded.
12. Gon when losing his hand. OMG that really shocked me! But that fight impress me very much! Its not like standart SHounen when you have to be stronger than your enemy. This fight, like many fights in HxH, were won by intelligence and Strategy!

Now we come to the truely Spoiler Section, dont read onwards when not knowing the Manga!

Chimera Ant Arc:
13. Reyna and Colt... what can i say. I was really shocked... I wonder if Colt knows that Reyna was also "reborn" but in the shape of an ant.
14. The Ants slaughter... Ponzus death was gruesome...then the Mandog scenes...
15. Pokkle Scene - well done in the Anime but in the Manga still more disgousting. (Of course)
16. Pitou holding Kaitos head... That... no words...
17. The Growing Madness of Netero... When heard that He probably wouldnt survive the fight with the Royal guards he had some mad expressions.

18. Meruem killing the Farmer Family... it wasnt enough to just kill the parent which had no chance... no he also killed the little Girl... that really shocked me.
19. Meruem overtaking the Castle... i wonder how Madhouse will hanlde the "Censored but yet seeable" scenes.
20. Meruem ripping his Arm off... That whole scene was really impressing in character development and intenseity.
21. Nov being totally overwhelmed by just the Presence of the King when planting his holes in the Castle. Pure Intensity.
22. Killuahs Expressions before and when pulling out the needle. (A little bit out of chronological order now)
23. The Side View of Killuah stopping the "Dart" before ripping his Head. That gave me a sense of how near he was to death.
U can get used to many things but yet there were still scenes coming which shock yu in some way.
24. Pitou breaking her arm when confronted with gon. The whole Gon and Pitou scene was just intense!
25. Gons Change and most of all the Fight with Pitou...
26. Netero when he activates his final attack and even more when he stabs his heart...
27. Youpis and Pofus crying when finding the Torso of Meruem. - I know the scene afterwards is kinda strange. But you hav to understand that this is so overplayed to show Youpis and Pofus development of Feelings like that. It tries to show us how they feel, when feeling something like that for the first time! Dont forget that when saying "this was so gay". This is one od the scenes in HxH that impressed me the most! Even when its absolutely not fitting in the ordinary Shounen sheme.

28. The explanation of the Rose and with that the reflection to our community:

I wonder how they will handle this in the Anime!

Election Arc:
29. The Story of Alluka/Nanika. Disgousting when all the people just get crushed...
30. Gons condition and everything around it. Like the powerlessness of all the others. The Exnennist which just gave up just by looking at him. And omg... His Hand!
31. Last but not least: Killuahs Inner monolouges! Not just in the election Arc but also in the Ant Arc. He changed. In the beginning you knew it was because of his needle when facing an opponent seemingly stronger. But later on it was the reality that he wasnt able to stop gon sacrificing himself. That must have been the worst for him. Worse than everything he expierienced through his childhood. He (almost) lost his only friend.
He kinda tried to handle this Situation, but he had to suffer very much.
