Wellllll, the interview from King's gaiden pretty much confirms that Hawk isn't just a talking pig.

I’m pretty sure the demon king watches the human world via hawks eyes. Hawk isn’t being controlled by the demon king in anyway but he is somehow linked to the demon king where the demon king can see through hawks eyes. We also know that hawks mother is most likely the saviour of the celestials in the film. Hawk has the ability to reincarnate over and over again for some reason though and I can’t find an answer on that. Correct me if I’m wrong anyone?
