Sounds a lot like this series about a MagicBullet Gun Girl Fighting Gods & Sacrifices, that suddenly started turning into word creature. Maybe she was a wood Angel? But then regaining her powers, meant loosing her memory of love. But losing her memory meant killing an uncaring God.

Actually sounds like a lot of them. But there should be enough details to fingerprint this one.
