I know there are Naruto fans still skeptical of the existence of the Uchiha Curse of Hatred, and also that there are those who believe it existed to some degree whether they believe it was a curse in the literal sense, or they're like me and believe it's just a fancy name for the literal side effects of distorted mind states and inability to control emotions.
Has anyone ever pondered whether or not the blindness that comes from overusing the Mangekyou Sharingan isn't just them burning out their eyes, but rather Rikudou Sennin placing a failsafe into their eyes to allow them a chance to escape the path they were going down... for a price?
I've got nothing that proves any of this, but it all just seems kind of odd the way it works. Though the fact that there's these mystical side effects and rules to reaching these alternate levels of power, and regaining eyesight does indeed lend more to the idea that there's a genuine curse.
