Global Terrorism? Islamic Fundamentalism? Iran? Afghanistan? Taliban? Al Qaieda? (sp?) (That and other potential crime-related problems with immigration)

These are some of the problems still posed to the world since 9/11, 7/7, the Madrid Train bombing, etc. How would you deal with it and what would you like to see done (Gov't policy, counter-terrorist measures, etc)?

Don't you think that getting out of their countries would be enough...???

I didnt start this thread for that reason. If you want an argument on the subject from me, youre not going to get it. Ask others instead, debate with them if you wish.

The bolded one's are the one's that are absolutely hopeless to solve, or to some extent deal with it any more then what is currently being done.

Italicized are debatable.

Islamic Fundamentalism boils down to religion and beliefs. Lol good luck at trying to stop religion.

Global Terrorism will exist as long as their are rich countries, poor countries, and people who for whatever reason hate the rich. AKA conflict.

Taliban will never truly die in the sense that their will always be a group very similar to it popping up, if not the same. An argument could be made that Taliban may dissapear in a generation or two in the future because they won't be able to understand their fathers principles and why they fight(proven to work). This is assuming of course that when we leave Afghanistan doesn't fuck up.

al-Qaeda is similar to Taliban in a lot of ways. It may or may not end. We'll defintely eventually catch Osama but...it's doubtful that it's going to die with something as simple as the death of it's leader. My bet is that it won't, it's been around for multiple generations and it's still running despite the war on it. We may cripple it but it'll still be around. But either way al-Qaeda's big when America leaves it'll still be around. Hell some experts really believe that al-Qaeda has a shot at another 9/11.

Crime related problems with immigration amount to stopping illegal immigration/doing something completely radical that will never be accepted.

I'll expand on my points later.

Global terrorism is something I find irrelevant and a symptom, rather than a disease.

Islamic Fundamentalism sounds really weird to bring up. Religion has always been a problem and will always be a problem, but I believe that most religions are declining in amount of believers, we just need to find a way to hasten the natural trend. Education is the answer, give proper education based on science, philosophy and critical thinking and this problem would barely be a problem any more. *Don't take me too seriously, I just disllike fundamentalists and cultists, and they've coloured most of my view on all of religion*

When it comes to any other middle-eastern "problem" it all boils down to the oil. The real problem is that we don't spend big enough efforts in effectivizing the electrical car. If we do that, then suddenly we can be nice to the poor people down there and they'll have less aggression to take out on us.

Am I the only person that thinks that immigration is awesome? You get to save people fleeing from wars, traumatized by seeing his/her parents get executed in front of their eyes... And you call them a problem?

The problem is money.

This is one problem needs to be rooted out at its core. I think people most of the time mislooked the reasons. People say it's just religious issue, but personally I don't think it's simply that. Do drug cartels did their activities by religious issues? Does the IRA is also based on religious issues? Does the PLO also works because of religious issues?

Nope, they don't. They might just probably happened to be religious people, but they have something they want. There are 2 forms here, one because they need something, then because they want something that they lost, back. Be it business, influence, land, rights, etc.

A simple example would be the recent war. The US claims there are WMDs in the Middle East, but until now, there's nothing. If you're a citizen of Afghanistan for example, how would you feel? You country is invaded, you have nothing to do with the government - just a citizen, your family killed, you lost your properties. Do you feel it is justified when what the invaders claimed is still not within sight after so many years? That's why they rose up and fight in their own way aka terrorism, they don't have jets, battleships, etc. For these people who lost everything, they see groups that took the opportunity to go against their enemies, as heroes.

Although, yes, I agree that some groups are using religion as a mean to justify their actions. Personally, these groups are using religion as a tool to tell the world what they did is right. If you need to give a reason, religion is something easy to begin with. If let say you don't want to go to a pub for example, just say that your religion disallows you to drink. Nobody will ask why it is prohibited. They just simply accept it. Such thoughts are dangerous, especially for the depressed minds, they are too easy to influenced by. Influencing the Afghanistan people who lost everything in the war (being in the same religion obviously helps a lot)? Child's play. Then you'll get a whole lot of soldiers for your terrorist plans.

As how to deal with it, human need to stop being prejudice. Not every Muslim a terrorist, not every Colombian is a drug cartel member, not every Mexican an illegal immigrant, not every Chinese is a member of a triad, etc. People need to know the root of the others before making decisions. That is on personal level.

As for government level, personally I'm satisfied with the security level atm, especially after 9/11. Of course they can always increase the efficiency and bring up more plans to further enhanced the safety. Information network is certainly needed. Countries need to be able to share information quickly and fully, means not hiding certain facts if they can.

Annihilate all religion and religious groups indiscriminately until all of it is gone. Then peace will reign over the Earth. So long as there are differences among man kind, there will never be peace. Humanity is weak and powerless.

I'm sorry I have to disagree with that. That will only incites more war than anything. From that point of view, you're probably talking from an atheist side. What if the others are thinking the same too? Christians would think to annihilate everyone who is not a Christian, and same goes to other religions. At the end of the day, it's a big war.

And no, there will always be differences. Actually I think religion is amazing in unifying people, since it goes beyond geographical borders. There are other differences, such as race and ethnicity to name a few. Unless someone wants to act like Hitler did with his Holocaust that is. And don't see it from only your pov, because in that cleansing you mentioned, you could be the one at the receiving end. I'm pretty sure you aren't going to be happy about it.

When a person says that he is swede, he separates himself from those who aren't.
When a person says he is a catholic, he separates himself from those who aren't.
When a person says that he is white, he separates himself from those who aren't.

When someone separates himself from others, they give each other a reason to fight, a reason to hate, a reason to despise, from their own pov.

When a person says he is a human, he is thinking globally.
When a person says he is a human he says that he is one among others.
When a person says that he is a human he tells others that he is equal to them.

These things like terrorism won't be gone until everyone is equal to the rest, until all borders are gone and everyone unite.

It's an utopia, it's impossible. We have the need that we have to stand-out, and that gives other people reason to hate.

Global warming will be the greatest environmental challenge in the twenty-first century. According to the environmentalist , East Asia is one of the most vulnerable regions facing wide scale impact of the global warming effect. What would happen to us if we don't know how to take care our mother earth?

Note that East Asia, China, India is the worlds most progressing countries when it comes to investing and streamlining in eco-friendly powersources.

As for global warming, every country has to first act locally, and then for example Sweden'll decrease the pollution with 40% nationally, but then give funds to help the 3rd world countries to decrease their pollution with 40%.

I, and as well as the green youth in Sweden believes STRONGLY that.. well let's say with the jobs that's required to build and streamline those three power-sources gives us a + with 20billions of swedish kronor/crowns after 20years which we can spend in helping other countries as well as increasing our welfare.

Support a phasing-out of nuclear energy in Sweden and hope to replace it with alternative, sustainable energy sources. The party further supports a general shift in taxation policy, towards high taxes on environmentally unfriendly or unsustainable products and activities, hoping to thus influence people's behavior towards the more sustainable.
We're talking about The three W's
Wind, Water, Wave (not world wide web >.< )
and also district heating...

Let's say with the jobs that's required to build and streamline those three power-sources gives us a + with 20billions of swedish kronor/crowns after 20years since we both profit in environmental friendly technology, and in new green jobs. Since we're in an economic crisis here we will gain because people who work can pay tax, taxes will go to hospitals, schools, etc that will give us a higher standard of living.
We will also be a more open country for immigrants since a lot of protectionism and nationalism is rising because of the amount of people loosing their jobs and if we can give the jobs back in something that will give something back to the nature - then we'll have a win win situation... everything is relative depending on the countries situation both economical and environmental

I think that there is only one solution: Education. when you tough kids tolerance, they'll become tolerant and can also influence the parents (more or less), it's not the fastest solution, but, in my point of view, it's the most effective one

and about eradicate religion, well it's not that good, after all, religion and culture are very close, an atheist or agnostic have also a religious culture (for example, an atheist celebrates christmas, it don't mean that he believe in jesus and in god, but it's just a celebration that he's used to, and he can find that odd to not celebrate :-/

Religion Fundamentalism is difficult to combat. They aren't based on solid evidence or tangible proof, so reasonable arguments aren't possible. The only way to reduce fundamentalism of any kind is have people with more open minds. That isn't going to happen.

While I hope that mankind-caused global warming isn't real, it's difficult to prove its existence. There really isn't enough evidence to prove that what we are doing today isn't naturally occuring. Of course, we should all reduce actions that harm our environment, but only after there is substantial proof.

but people don't born close neither open minded :p that's why I talked about educate kids

and for global warming, there is a proof you can feel it yourself, I don't know how it is in USA, but in Europe, well last year it wasn't so hot in this period, this year, there is sooooooooo many insects in my room! (my home is clean I swear! XD ), I have to open the windows so it's not that hot, but since I'm close to a park, there is a bunch of noctuidaes, mosquitoes, ... they was there last year, but now they're really much much more! I'm talking about insects because they're very sensitive to temperature
I used to wander in a little forest near by my hometown, now I can't go there any more, there is sooo many caterpillars! they have killed sooo many trees!
I found in google an example of what they do: http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/3103/caterpillar20tree.jpg

Woah that`s rough, but green party will never get elected, and are they just another political party or do they actually try to do something like plant trees and encouraging people to curb there lifestyle and another thing why do the green want to make all drugs legal, like what does legalizing a synthetic drug like meth have to do with saving the environment?
