I don't think that ace/hancock/jimbei wil be a member of the sh's, because luffy would need them as a partner in the new world. Think about it if ace as the leader of the wb pirates backs the sh's up.
Boa with her kuja pirates, and jimbei with his island.

That would be better than joining the sh's

I also believe that the difference between the blackbeard pirates and the sh's
Is that the sh's aren't at the top of their level, and the bb pirates are.
I think that bleakbeard only takes strong people at his crew an not like luffy.

The sh's will have a new member at the fisherman's arc en when that is finished luffy can challenge the new world with his crew upgraded and a new member.

Most of what is written above seems right on. Allies are much more useful than new SH Members.

To me the BB seem to only choose powerful members who will DO ANYTHING for their power. I think there are many other crews in the NW who could swallow the BB pirates whole. He beat Ace but is yet to be near yonkou level..

I don't know about blackbeard not yonkou level he gave shanks that scar and shanks even go's to wb to talk about it.

Blackbeard may to have a small crew so they can be outnumbered for sure but in a 1-1 situation he is strong.

I thought Shanks went to WB to both warn of BB and his rise to power, but to warn WB that Ace wasn't ready to fight such a power.
BB is a nasy fighter and might have the most deadly DF power yet.

I don't think he could take down Shanks or WB without some dirty fighting or the chaos of the brawl about to happen.

Either way I hope to see what role BB has in the war!!!!!!!!!!

Shank's stated that BB gave him the scar across his eye, and Shanks wasn't being careless. That by itself basically tells you BB managed to legitimately damage Shanks, and it wasn't a fluke.

BB is for sure yonkou level. It's just that, like Shanks said, BB is a crafty man who hides his power so no one will pay attention to him. When you are building a strong crew, and aiming for the top, the last thing you want is for everyone to notice you, and gun to take you out. It's not the most manly thing to do, but it's the smart thing to do. And I believe that's BB's style. Stir up confusion, play everyone against each other, snatch new crew members (Shiryuu), and disappear again to plot his next move.

BB is basically the one that will show up in the end of the battle and beat the strongest guy when he is down jus to prove that he is strong. i agree that he has power, but i dont like his character and i hope that someone beats him VERY SOON!!!!

BB is basically the one that will show up in the end of the battle and beat the strongest guy when he is down jus to prove that he is strong. i agree that he has power, but i dont like his character and i hope that someone beats him VERY SOON!!!!

really in this manga so far we only consider most ppl strong if they have a fruit espcially if its a logia and therefore since BB has beaten ace (logia) bashed Luffy (Paramecia) who are both considered strong can therefore take on others eg admirals. but how would he go against rayliegh or jimbei who dont have fruits hes main ability of hes fruit is now useless since theres no fruit to nullifiy.

i think BB is only strong against fruit users but IMO i think against non fruiters he will be beaten since really all he can do is suck them towards him which with sum ppl will be the bad thing to do

Yeah, I'm all for BB as the final boss, but right now he might not be Yonkou level. He did take good damage from Ace and Luffy and was completely trounced by Magellan.

Actually, as far as strength goes Magellan is pretty much the strongest enemy ever introduced in the manga, but still Iva-san seemed to put up a better fight than Blackbeard + crew.

I expect Blackbeard to grow to be stronger, rather than his current level being beyond Luffy. Perhaps they'll become recurring battles even?

Yes, he appears to be a character with a special affinity to fight DF users, but nobody is worthless their fruit aside, and nobody is a one hit wonder. Even Foxy, whose only ability was to slow things down, had a variety of ways to use his technique, and enough physical combat prowess to at least back up his bounty. Remember, he can do more than just draw people toward him. He's never had to seriously fight before. Nobody's posed a threat to him. Not to mention physical strength-wise, he's a beast. Ace is stronger physically than Luffy, at Luffy's own admittance, and BB nearly broke his neck with a single blow. Thats a helluva feat. And don't forget, he's a D. they're ALL absurdly powerful.

Magellan beat him, yes, but his ability is absurd. There's absolutely nothing to be done against being poisoned, and BB took him too lightly. His arrogance was his downfall in that situation. Iva knew Magellan's strength, as was prepared to fight him, even though he lost. BB is already extremely powerful, not invincible, but powerful. Possibly as strong as an Admiral, possibly not. neither the Admirals, nor BB have ever had a serious fight. they're too strong at this point in time.

Don't forget about Blackbeard just straight up sucking people into the ground. He hinted that he could've done it to Ace but chose not to, and he did it to the ID guards.

I think blackbeard needs to get beat that way he can realize that he needs to stop depending solely on his fruit or maybe learn other abilities and use his fruit to its full potential. once he does that i think that a lot more people will connect with him and see him in a better light.
if you are really excited about the fact that OP is being released 5 volumes at a time in english that sad. the only reason someone should buy english OP is to see the pictures in better quality.

the only thing for sure is that bb will come to this war.i dont really believe that he will kill wb not even if he'll be very injured..and some ppl don't be so sure that bb will be the last one..i think something like shanks/mihawk waiting luffy/zoro (and the rest of the crew) at raftel to prove them that they have become the best.

He might not be as powerful at the moment - but he can develop in the middle in the battle like some of the Mugiwaras did.
However, he doesn't have to take onthe healthy and undamaged Yonkou - by the time he arrives in Marinford, Whitebeard is quite likely to participate and suffer in a number of battles. In such a situation, Teach surely will have a chance.

Enemy or character?
Well, Ivankov was fully aware who Magellan is and what he is capable of. Whereas Teach didn't even prepare for his intrusion leaving it for fate to decide whether his crew survives or not.

Exactly. I see Teach's crew developing in the same way as the Mugiwara crew - growing in power, gaining new members, advancing through the New World. Addition of Shiryu and possible other convicts of Impel Down can prove that.

About the current strawhat not being powerfull, there has been numerous posts on that subject and some just above. What I found interesting in the last chapter is that it shows that Whitebeard strength is also made by having powerfull allies.
And it is very interesting to see what are the potential allies of Luffy, since I think he is in a very unique situation compared to other pirate crews. Indeed Luffy main allies are not other pirates (beside bon clay and Shanks there are not that much) but country leaders (Drum, Alabasta, water 7...). And I think that will be the key of their future

no, there is a reason to buy the manga once it's availabe locally: to support it and it's reputation. especially in north america I hear it's somewhere behind Naruto (which we don't have to discuss here) and to show the world that america loves One Piece it'S a good thing to buy it

Hmm, I had a thought and I didn't want to post it in the latest prediction/discussion since it might be something that's not revealed any time soon, but:

In the latest chapter the gates were opened allowing the Jailbreak League access to Marineford.

Now, in the spoilers, when released, it was stated that Whitebeard opened the gates and all these ships turned up. I mistakingly assumed the ships came through the gate, and thought nothing more of it.

After reading the chapter a couple of times though, it's pretty evident that the Jailbreak League is the only ship that passes through the gates since Whitebeard's allies did not appear anywhere near the gates or Luffy's commandeered ship.

So my long winded point is this:

• Did Whitebeard open the gate? Why would he do that for Luffy, whom I doubt he knew was coming.
• If not Whitebeard, who and for what reason?
• Am I reading too much into this?

Honestly speaking, I'd prefer to believe that the gates were opened by someone other than Whitebeard. Blackbeard having a hand in it would be interesting, and Luffy and co. getting through was just an accident. I'd also prefer it not to be Blackbeard at the same time though, always nice to see another face in the mix of things and for Blackbeard's shaking to be nowhere near related to Whitebeard.
