I'm kind of surprise how Iwashiro's assitants are doing pretty good. Tamura had an excellent debut, Matsumoto is going to release his first serialization on issue 50, and Mizuno won the Golden Future Cup and high possibility to get serialized at next year. Is than means Iwashiro is good teacher?

Also, I found the assistant map of Jump mangakas.

I knew Tamura was one of Iwashiro's assistant. Did not realize Matsumoto and Mizuno were as well. Could he be the next Obata, producing another generation of mangaka? Maybe there assistants will do well too!

Two out of five Golden Future Cup winners were former assistants of Iwashiro; I think Iwashiro can be next Obata. In addition, I found that Sakamoto, winner of 1st Future Cup winner, is good friend of Iwashiro.

I'm kind of surprise that Oda's well known former assistant is only Ejiri.

so, Shiibashi used to be Araraki's assistant

Also, Shiibashi is good friend of Tanaka, the author of Kagijin. I found that Shiibashi drew Yuki-Onna in one shot of Tanaka's Hitmoi no Catobeplas, and Tanaka drew Hakutaku in chapter 1 of Shiibashi's Nurarihyon no Mago.

Neither Oda, Kubo, or Kishi have produced well known assistants. Ejiri did manage a year long series, the other two have not had an assistant I even know by name. Sorachi has produced Shinohara, Amano produced Aimoto, Katsuro has produced Akatsuki though the latter two can hardly be called successful yet.

Is anyone able to translate that assistant map. Anyone who can't read Japanese is going to be lost.

Kawashita produced Hoshino? ...wow.

I was surprised at how few well-known (to me, anyway - recently, then) manga(ka) some of the current big-name Jump series authours produced. Hmm. I almost thought there would be more, especially considering some of these series have run for around a decade. Interesting.

So "Metallica, Metallica's" author, "Neko Wappa's" author, and "Beelzebub's" author all were assistants for "Pysren's" author. I find that rather interesting. One of his assistants already has a more successful manga than him (at least it's looking like it's going to be that way), another is about to start a series, and one just won some one shot award (Metallica, Metallica did win that contest right?). I guess the path to success is to work for Psyren's author (sorry, I can't read Kanji, so I don't know these people's actual names ). Of course this is all pending that I'm reading this chart correctly .

I can but the thing is I've really slipped further and further away from this thread. Meh...I just don't think this thread is as fun anymore as it used to be and really doesn't feel like an oldie like me belongs here. (besides, I actually liked Chagecha compared to whoever hated it)

Currently working on small database in Excel and am using some dubious romanizations. It'll also include links to the JP Wikipedia entries when available (if there's an option for English for that page, people can read that for more info). It's going to be a rushed job but it'll take a while...

Glad to see someone working on it, I was rather curious.

I'm always "filled of joy" when I discover relationships between mangaka's, haha.

Haven't heard anything I didn't know tho', maybe that thing will change that (think it will)

Well, in my free time in my job, I was doing a program for consult Jump Series' debut and end. It is in Portuguese, and only the consult are avaliable. But I guess it's very instinctive to use, not need to know Portuguese. In the future (when I have another free time =D), include and edit part will be avaliable, but you can make any changes in the Microsoft Access file who goes with it.
It counts with only series name, issue from debut and end. Don't have mangaka's name, sorry.

All the information of series debut and end are from this page. And the romanizations are from wikipedia list.

wow. thats an awesome map.
i only knew Oda and Takei being Watsuki's assistants, but its interesting to see so many of the mangakas interacting.

a bit sad for Oda's assistants not having much success, but he is still young, so who knows.

AWESOME! The program works great and the database is HUGE!
This will be very useful for me in the future. I usually have discussions about the beginning and ending of some series, so with this data I can back up what I say =D

I'm a little late but sad to see Akaboshi go even though I knew it was coming. Rilienthal dropped hard....scuks cause it looked kinda interesting. New series don't really excite me...hoping there is anther series coming up. Doubting i will enjoy any of those to that much.

Iwashiro drew Amamiya in Hilda's costume in volume 1 of Beelzebub, and Tamura drew Hilda in Amamiya's costume in volume 7 of Psyren.
