re:charice- I'm not a fan of her. I frankly believe that she's overrated; I admit that she has TONS of potential, but right now is just too soon. I'll hold my praises for when her voice and style mature into it's final stage.

true. Me too, tissueboy, no last meals to think of yet. just recently I broke my diet. Last week I ate Jollibee almost every day @_@ I wondered what Gordon Ramsay's face would be if he ate Chicken Joy?

but after that I missed *real* food. Like, veggies. Gimme Broccoli!

On a more serious note, to the cooks there, with the looming rice shortage and the fact that white rice sucks (both from a dental and nutritional point of view), what viable inexpensive food substitute would you suggest?

@MJ- I've always been a bread and potato guy... Whole reason to why I plan on specializing as a "Boulanger" or baker. But I can't deny the fact that Filipino food is just not the same without a good old mountain of rice .

@Faux- Jollibee has recently become my favorite for fast food chicken. KFC used to be #1, but after I noticed that the portions kept on shrinking, while the prices kept on growing, I just gave up on it. McDonalds chicken tastes good, but the problem is that the portions are small and bony... and about 30% of it is batter...

Yes white rice suck, and brown rice is.. expensive? I dunno. As for food substitutes, how about bread? though it can't compare with rice lol and a dental view? white rice corrodes the teeth? D:

Yeah, KFC chicken keeps on getting smaller. It's hard to find one with normal chicken. ;A; And my new craving for Jollibee might have come from the fact that I'm too used to eating Mcdonald's and KFC chickens. and jollibee chicken meat is tasty, dang

ahem. Firstly, how can you guys say white rice sucks? It's not my favorite, and I've been keeping away from it for about two years now, but from time to time I do eat it. sarap e.

Brown rice, if you want nutritional value, you shouldn't buy the "brown rice" that they sell in the supermarket. That one's expensive, and misleading. Brown grain rice is different from unmilled or partially unmilled rice like your good old dinorado. Brown grain rice may still be refined and has low fiber content like refined white grain rice.

Kuro-tan, if you're asking for cheaper rice substitutes, I use different kinds of beans. neutral-tasting like rice, very filling, but jampacked with fiber.

Instant noodles ba? If so, Quickchow beef mami reduced untill semi-dry! The noodles become soggy, but it tasts gooooooooooddddddd.

Actually I'm referring to the prevalence of commercial noodles being a staple of 85% of our country's population due to misleading adverts from everyone's (well, mostly) favorite past time.

Still, my personal preference is Nissin's Yakisoba.

paperboy, there's this product, saucy me, during my college days... (er, some seven years ago?) that was just like that. Yung masabaw-sabaw pero pancit-canton-ish. flat noodles pa. sarap nun e. but it didn't gain much siguro coz they stopped manufacturing it, damn!
