Yeah, it would be great to see new crew member as soon as possible.
Though, it's a bit difficult to speculate of his origin, because his arm is human at least.

I've a weird question, though. Who is the one behind the rest in the lifesaver thingie?

I want to know too, it's not easy to identify him.

Was I the only one who had the feeling the new guy was Sabo when I saw it. Just that smile. Of course, it doesn't mean anything, but it could be possible.

Does he wear a raincoat?

Yeah, I think your theory isn't to bad, they look alike. But I would be maybe a little disappointed if that person is really that Klab-man.

Oda isn't the man to like to toy with us readers, is he?
But of course I also would be disappointed if he would toy with us that bad.
On the other hand I don't think the actual new member (if there is) would have the shape Oda shows us on the color spread.
It would be too obvious and would ruin the tension of the revelation of the new SH's identity.

I think that "Klabauterman" of Sunny is shown as the guy whose chained behind to the Sunny. Since both he and Sunny pretty much have the exact same head/face. So the "new" guy thats shown on the ships seems to be a brand new member of the crew.

Also what i'm a little confused about is whether or not they are going to reveal who that mystery crew member is or was all of that just to sort of build up to the fact that eventually there will be a 10th SH crew member?

Well none of the people on the color spread has it's own shape, so i doubt the new one is also in the real shape.

But on the other hand, if it is Sabo, my prediction, I think i wouldn't be to disappointed, although I wish him to be in the revolution army.

apparently there is some type of contest, but what is interesting is a color spread that the contestants receive from oda.

I was thinking Coby because of the white uniform...But maybe I'm too biased about Coby joining Luffy.

And you know, the cape of the "new" guy reminded me a Revolutionary. Maybe one will join Mugiwaras after all :O

Well...I think we're just over-interpreting things here...The color spread is simply dedicated to the show, and the "unknown new character" relates to the future new member of the audition team (of the show) who's still unknown...

Just my thought...I may be completely wrong...

I think you're right. At least, that's pretty much exactly how I saw it. The way the characters are drawn are clearly caricatures of real people, and they are not the voice actors (don't look anything like the voice actors, not even all the genders are right). So probably the actors of that show. It looks like it's a sort of recruitment advertisement or something.

Recruiting a new member of the crew has been a constant 'high' point for One Piece that helps set it apart from other Shounens... I don't really see Oda limiting himself with giving a finite number of members for the strawhat crew... However I think that we may get into 'active members' vs inactive members... i.e Characters that don't take an active part in the fighting but are still along for the ride. Chronicler & Cabin Boys fit this description... So we will probably get 1-2 more crew members who will be active fighters in addition to whatever their respective role may be. Then we will start acquiring 'support' characters who don't necessarily take part in the fighting but help do other things during the crews adventures!
