Re: Air Gear: Hangout

First let me preface this by saying that if you are not caught up with the current story arc, chapters 290+, then this will be a spoiler for you.

I recently began re-reading air gear, holiday break time kill, and the further I advanced through the plot the more confused I became. So I have a few questions which I would greatly appreciate your input.

So it is now revealed that Sora and Nike were working on their evil/sinister plot from the get go, as in right after they escaped the lab and had knowledge of Rika and her adopted sisters. Sora and Nike have been actively taking steps toward ensuring them retrieving the Sky Regalia which is still locked away in the tower. Is this really all there is to their storyline? Everything they have done has solely been for this? They obviously fooled many people and pretended to be good guys for a very lengthy time, but has each step been for them to retrieve what is locked away? Why would Sora allow himself to be injured if that is the case? Now this could be further part of the bro's design to fool everyone, but I can't believe someone as strong as him allowing his legs to be injured.

Also, another question on the bro's. Are they really only colossally strong when together as we have seen a few times, and in the flashback, or is what we have seen from them individually just them holding back?

Something else from the recent chapters which has me completely vexed is why has Kaito not taken revenge on the bro's until just this current arc? He has been placed in an agency which allows himself to take revenge. Now I know that the bro's have been backed by some very powerful people and can defend themselves, but it isn't like Sora has been hiding away in a hole these past few years.

Another part I honestly have no clue about is Simca and her storyline. So she is Kiric's twin, and wants Ikki to succeed and even tune his Wind regalia, but what exactly is going on with her connections to the previous generation. She obviously doesn't know about the bro's plot, else she wouldn't have Nike in Genesis, but what is her connection to Kiric and Sleeping Forest? She knows that eventually she would have to face them if she is backing Ikki for Wind king right?

Also, what is with the inconsistency of the current sleeping forest? Ringo could have outright killed Simca, and goes on about how she has to follow the laws of the tower and such, but why does she do some cruel things half assedly, and act sweet and nice the other times? Just what is Sleeping Forest trying to do if not nip future Kings in the bud, and defend the tower form those wishing to get inside?

And finally, let me get this straight. There are two Minami twins? One is backing the good guys, Ikki and co. while the other gave Sora the bagram? One even oversaw the brain changer project and allowed the final fantasy bunch to escape. Just what have they done exactly in the series, and who are they supporting? And for what cause?

thanks in advance!

Nike was the one who created Genesis after he took Kiric's regalia. Simca joined Genesis knowing that it was controlled by Sora and Nike. Simca doesn't have a connection to Kiric she severed that when she betrayed him by joining his worst enemies. It's funny Spitfire told Ikki in his message after he died that he and Simca didn't want to face Kiric. They hoped that Ikki's relationship with Ringo would allow them to bypass Kiric. Which either makes them really stupid or really naive.

Killing Simca wasn't the plan, keeping her from involving herself in the upcoming fights and possibly getting hurt worse then she did was the plan. Sleeping forest doesn't fight unless somebody wants to gain the Sky Regalia. That was pointed out in the fight with Sleipnir and why they were considered the champions of the last tournament. http://www.mangafox.com/manga/air_gear/v27/c249/11.html

The best way to put it Sleeping Forest doesn't care what you do unless you want the Sky Regalia.

Oh yeah, my bad on excluding that bit. Bypassed the panel of Nike carrying the flag and all lol. Did she really know that Sora could still ride AT though?

They are most certainly affected a great deal by the latter.

that's why even after the revelation of Sora's betrayal while Ikki is still in the tower I am just not getting why they allowed him to leave. They might believe that Ikkki might not technically covet the Sky regalia, but they certainly know he is incredibly ambitious and aiming for the top, which is technically conquering the tower...

oyos,

sora and nike have been plotting for a while, but that doesn't mean they would expect things to turn out exactly as planned. they wanted gazelle and failed (they were likely going to brainwash her if they could ever capture her), they had original sf and that failed (sora likely didn't expect for kiric to have reinforcements from the 'better' grav kids), he was probably going to leave ikki alone as the 'wind king' for longer if not for kururu making bagram better, he was also trying to make kururu his tuner but nike was only able to capture hako... not everything has gone exactly according to plan, so even though sora now says that he 'felt like getting mecha legs' it is more than likely that he's just making that excuse because there was no way he could ride again with the injury kiric gave him.

Also, another question on the bro's. Are they really only colossally strong when together as we have seen a few times, and in the flashback, or is what we have seen from them individually just them holding back?
i think its a little of both... combo attacks are naturally stronger, but the full extent of their power has rarely if ever been witnessed (the flashbacks are one of the only times i've seen sora unleash some massive attacks that trumps anything he's been seen doing in the more recent times). there's also the fact that the grav kids are more suited/better in zero g (kiric was considered the best of his generation because his skills were equal in normal gravity to zero g; the rest were 'weaker' in normal gravity). so we are going to be seeing some god-like fighting in the forest when o!g ever gets to that point in the story.

Something else from the recent chapters which has me completely vexed is why has Kaito not taken revenge on the bro's until just this current arc? He has been placed in an agency which allows himself to take revenge. Now I know that the bro's have been backed by some very powerful people and can defend themselves, but it isn't like Sora has been hiding away in a hole these past few years.
kaito had to finish school, then rise in the ranks of the police to effectively 'do what he wants'. if he kept to his 'i can do it in 5 years' then that would put him in a position of opposition right around when old sf had a full team (rika).

She knows that eventually she would have to face them if she is backing Ikki for Wind king right?
simca had believed in sora's 'lies' like the rest of old sf (minus kiric), on top of seeing her brother injure 'his best friend' to such a degree, i'm not surprised that she would take sora's side in the aftermath and help nike and sora create genesis and look for a 'new wind king'. but after things started once ikki was 'scouted', things started turning ugly and ikki being ikki had helped her remember what it was like to be a stormrider (on top of his blunt nature - simple minded and wild, yet caring) so she had a change of heart and began to push ikki into being genesis' leader and be accepted as such by the rest of the team before sora intervened. if genesis (minus the grav kids on the ship) had sided with ikki, then sora and nike would have lost their more expendable 'army' and be forced to show their true hand/plans much earlier.

Also, what is with the inconsistency of the current sleeping forest? Ringo could have outright killed Simca, and goes on about how she has to follow the laws of the tower and such, but why does she do some cruel things half assedly, and act sweet and nice the other times? Just what is Sleeping Forest trying to do if not nip future Kings in the bud, and defend the tower form those wishing to get inside?
ringo has always been a softie, and so is kiric... enough said. and like carnevil said, if you aren't after the sky regalia, then they don't care as much

And for what cause?

its not 100% sure yet that there are two minamis... just a 95% chance that there is given everything so far. we have a carefree one who has been helping various characters from the shadows, then we have a more calculating one who 'creates genius' and works with rogue military factions. unless minami is like agito/akito and has a split personality, it is more probable that there are two minamis.

A couple things. The goal of the Sora brothers is world domination. Retrieving the case is the key to that as we are led to believe it contains the Sky Regalia. The Regalia is just part of the larger plot. Sora feigns the injured, tragic hero who everyone just wants to give a hug. While he rears the next Sky King (Ikki) he was always planning to use Ikki to take the fight to Sleeping Forest while Genesis comes in and cleans up the remains. With no one left to oppose the Sora brothers they can just walk in, grab the case, then proceed to destroying the nations armies and finally rule the world. Of course I'm betting that both of the brothers are probably planning to betray each other at some point. It doesn't say anywhere that there is more than one regalia in that chest. Heh, and these guys don't seem to be the sharing type. If they do get their hands on the case they will try and kill each other. That's a moot point though. I don't think Sora let himself get injured by anyone. I just think that Killik whopped his ass. The brothers seem tough and nigh unbeatable. But as long as they aren't "invincible" they can be defeated.

Also, another question on the bro's. Are they really only colossally strong when together as we have seen a few times, and in the flashback, or is what we have seen from them individually just them holding back?

It's been awhile so I could be wrong, but I think that during the tag team battle against Aeon Clock and Spitfire, it was said that the Sora brothers had a really high battle level, higher than any other storm rider. It also said somewhere in that chapter that their power actually multiplies when the fight together. It's been more than a few months since I reviewed that battle so if I'm wrong don't take this as a deception. But I do remember reading their power multiplies when they fight together. Individually they're already monstrously strong but together, man game over. I'd say that they haven't displayed their full power against any team but Sleeping Forest. I will say that Killik was either just as strong as Sora or just a bit better because after Nike d-mobbed the Regalia Sora went down hard. But it was a tough fight for Killik too.

Something else from the recent chapters which has me completely vexed is why has Kaito not taken revenge on the bro's until just this current arc? Seriously? :oh You saw how strong they were. Even when they were kids, the most advanced weapons were useless against the twins. I mean completely, totally useless. Kaito would need manpower and lots of it. In addition he couldn't just have a bunch of scrubs working with him, his guys needed to be tough. He also needed to attack the Sora brothers when they were most vulnerable. In fact, Kaito would have to assume that they even have a vulnerability. The reason why now is the time to strike is because the Sora brothers are finally at a disadvantage. What do I mean by that? Sora himself has become exceedingly arrogant, telling the rest of Genesis to stay on the ship while he deals with Sleeping Forest himself. Now of course, that is hella badass but still, you get my point. Not only that but they messed up big time when they tried to step to the Unbeatable Babyface. Why did Kaito wait until now? The leader of the Eastside Gunz is about to kick some serious ass. Why not. Have Ikki destroy the twins, avenge your lovers death, and kick back having gotten revenge without even getting your hands dirty. He might as well by his hat and cane now.

Agreed, Kiric was considered the strongest member of OSF. So it's not a surprise he beat Sora.

I think a better explanation is he's been waiting for the body to become strong enough to allow Gazelle's personality to take over. Now that has happened so they're hunting Nike on the ship. He knew he couldn't touch Sora on his own but with Gazelle's knew abilities they might have a chance. Considering it took both of them to take her out the first time.

That's plausible but it seems he struck too soon in that case. Agito/Akito/Lind combined couldn't handle Nike's scrubs. I'm guessing Nike has got to be at leave six or seven times as strong as the storm riders Kaito and the kid bumped. It's still too early for him to step to the Sora brothers.

What are you talking about, the minute Lind/Gazelle took over he/she destroyed Arthur in one hit. With only half of Gazelle's strength Agito's battle lever rose to 302. If Agito had just allowed Gazelle/Lind of take full control the battle would've been over along time ago.

Thanks for that. Having three personalities/characters in one body gets confusing as hell. Of course it's a lot worse for the characters themselves. :D Lind is certainly strong but he can't handle the twins by himself. I'd like to see Ikki and Lind versus the twins personally. That would be badass.

oyos

it was really cool the first time agito and ikki teamed up... both have progressed quite a bit since that time, and if we had ikki with the storm regalia + gazelle/lind-agito teaming up, than we'd have a pretty epic fight~ that's 4/3 roads vs 2/1 (wind+rumble/hurricane & bloody+sonia vs wind+gaia/jade)

Id always assume it would be the Koga Trinity taking on the Takeuchi Bros. 3 vs 2 seems more appropriate since the twins are beastly.

Re: Air Gear: Hangout

Once Ikki uses his storm both Nike and Sora lose their wind abilities. That means they're vulnerable to attack especially Sora. Nike will only be vulnerable to long range since he would still have his gem for close fighting. So really all Ikki has to do is use his storm and Gazelle can handle Nike from long range.

Of course OG will probably give Sora some kind of magical ability to withstand Ikki's storm probably something to do with his magic legs.

What can take down Nike and Sora...?

So yeah, since Koga have been consistently been getting combo/hybrids of tricks/roads/infinity atmospheres, OG is obviously trying to provide them with a skill set to take on the evil, beastly twins.

Is there anything in their current arsenal that can put a dent in the twin antagonist?

What combos will give Koga a fighting chance?

What do you predict with future upgrade/tricks will allow Koga to go toe-to-toe with them?

Re: What can take down Nike and Sora...?

Ikki's storm pretty much takes care of Sora's road unless OG pulls something stupid. It also cuts Nike's road in half leaving him vulnerable to long range attacks from Lind if Lind stays with Koga and doesn't leave with Kaito after this arc. So it seems OG has already given them most of what they would need if they face both of them.

The thing is those two are so viscous I doubt that stuffing their road abilities will slow them down too much. If Sora was seen to be struggling Nike would put an end to it somehow. I they both have to be utterly defeated at the same time.

^ Also base Nike could tank the combine infinity atmospheres of two King level flameroad riders (one with regalia).

Even without his wind tricks, Nikes sheer physical attributes plus his AT riding skills and a useable regalia would still be a match for Lind/Agito...

He tanked a cripple and a weak loser. Combined their battle level probably didn't come close to three hundred, let alone whatever Nike's battle level is. I wouldn't use those two weak fools as a way to demonstrate Nike's physical prowess.
