I just wanted to say, I think Magico is absolutely great. It could get really, really awesome if the author keeps this up (although admittedly it only starts to count from the first 30+ chapter arc, many series got up to that point then failed. But right now Magico is hitting all the right notes).

Regarding popularity, I'm thinking it'll have a bit of a slower rise in the ranks, but sell much better in volume sales, at least until (when) the anime comes.

Totally agree with you Sayaendo! It's just getting better and better, and the universe/world of Magico have already started to evolve a lot. Same with the characters, and their relationship. Hope the author will keep being awesome, and deliver one hell of a manga in the future.

Right now, I just hope that it can maintain its position :/

Instead of getting higher positions in the WSJ ToC, I personally would rather see Magico's first tank sales number getting into the Oricon weekly ranking. Unlikely, I know, but it would be the #1 thing I'd wish for the series at this point.

Very happy with the TOC this week. Toriko, SKET and Gintama are in the top 5 positions, and I can finally stop clutching my pearls over Mago's ranking. It's still low, but at least it's hovering at the bottom anymore.

Wow, Magico is still doing well among the 2011 series!

Late but...

:fangirl

MAGO IS OUT FROM THE BOTTOM!!! :woo

I am so happy to see this. Go Mago go! :cheerbunny I really hope it stays out of the bottom now, I think the appearance of a certain cool character will help with that. At least I hope so.

There's a self-described insider posting on 2ch that includes quite a few info on what's to come in the next few months... I'm not sure whether to believe him or not, since these people pops in and out fairly often (the fake ones I mean).

However, this guy did go all in pretty early by stating that Magico will have the lead CP for 2011-27 issue (this is where he got me extremely skeptical)... So I guess we should know whether this guy is for real or not next Tuesday/Wednesday, when the TOC comes in.

So take them with a bucket of salt.

2011-27 Lead CP is Magico
New series are:
Nishi (Author of Muhyo, Bokke-san): Serialization of a previous 1-shot (Makyouryokoushi Gram?)
Miyokawa Masaru: Serialization of previous 1-shot (Keppuu Gakkyuu Kai or Foo Fighter Fuji?)
Fukujima (Author of Samurai Usagi): A baseball romantic comedy.
The series that'll be canceled are: Sengoku Armours, Dois Sol, and HnS

ついでに8月からハンタ再開
代わりの打ち切りはまだ来週会議で決まる予定
危険水域はめだか・グリム・エニグマ
エニグマは最近急落してる

HxH will be back starting in August.
The series that will be cut to make room for it will be decided next week
Potential series are Medaka, Grimm, and Enigma
Enigma has been free-falling as of late.

Magico is doing really well in the feedback.
Kuroko is staying put because they have to have a sports series in the magazine. Otherwise, it's doing worse than Medaka and Mago in the reader feedback. It could be gone should Fukujima's baseball series becomes popular.

None of these manga are own by Shuiesha and each company had their own different quota to meet and aren't as high as Shuiesha. Kuroko no Basuke sells more than Medaka Box an I don't see an anime for it anytime soon
Obviously they don't since the last volume of Ao no Exorcist released before the anime annoument did...

24, *47,036 *,*47,036 Ao no Exorcist vol.5

It's selling much better now but that's not the point... Also...

weekly manga sale ranking for December 27th - January 2nd.
*7, *85,560 *,*85,560 Medaka Box vol.8
*8, *81,321 *,*81,321 Beelzebub vol.9

*9, *,*85,200 *,*85,200 Beelzebub vol.8
10, *,*82,789 *,*82,789 Medaka Box vol.7

Medaka and Beelzebub were neck and neck most of the time.. you would expect Beelzebub to outsell Medaka since it has a volume head start and was heavily pimped by Jump while Medaka was left to fend for itself in the bottom 5.

*4, *,153,415 *,153,744 Beelzebub vol.11
*6, *,104,529 *,104,800 Medaka Box vol.10

The only reason Beelzebub is outselling Medaka Box easily now is because it has an anime. It took Sket Dance 16 volumes to hit around 120k a week and it's getting an ongoing anime series. If you argue that Medaka Box doesn't deserve an anime for only selling 100k for the opening week than Beelzebub and Sket Dance didn't deserve anime showseither.

Medaka Box is selling more now than when Beelzebub did when it received an anime, deal with it. Sket Dance, Beezlebub, Kuroko and Medaka Box were all in the same mark at one time.. proof?

10, *69,734 *,*69,734 Beelzebub vol.5
11, *69,211 *,*69,211 Kuroko no Basket vol.6
12, *68,014 *,*68,014 Sket Dance vol.13
13, *63,570 *,*63,570 Medaka Box vol.4

Actually it's the opposite, it won't have a good chance at an anime
Fail.

http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=151787

Oricon Biz collected questionnaires from people in the anime industry about manga and light novels which they anticipate to be animated. The respondents are working for anime magazines, music labels, TV companies, and anime journalism.

Medaka Box
The great hit of Bakemonogatari also brought attentions to Nishio Ishin's manga.

And once again you're being a tad too generous because you're a fanboy. The series is not THAT popular to get two full seasons, what's so hard to understand?
Beelzebub is getting 52 episodes, Sket Dance is getting 52+ and as I've proven they were around medaka boxs level of sales.

Seriously you guys are just jumping the gun on this altogether, I'm not even sure if MB has had a VCOMIC yet
lol.... only happened 14 months ago and I think it's the quickest JUMP manga to get a VCOMIC....

Medaka/Megumi Toyoguchi
Zenkichi/Hiroshi Kamiya
Shiranui/Emiri Katou

Pretty big names FYI. Megumi voiced Revy from Black Lagoon and has heaps of range. Kamiya is one of "the" male VAs of this time and Katou is on the rise.

Who would you cast as Misogi...? Fukuyama?

If it's true i am glad that Magico is such a hit but sad for Enigma.

I guess after Dois they gave up on soccer (finally) and are now gonna try a baseball/romance.

Also not that suprising if Hokenshitsu, Dois and Sengoku are cancelled.

I'm sure i read something about a week or so ago mentioning about Fukujima getting a series serialized... Did you hear anything about this Finestela?

(Sorry I'm not very clear/sound stupid, I usually just lerk and don't post on the forums)

Yes, I did as well. There has been a lot of talks on Fukujima coming back, with Miyokawa as "the other newbie" for serialization.

But this is the first time Nishi's name is in the mix.

Why would Enigma get cancelled?

I haven;t seen it hit the bottom 5 even once yet, and wouldn;t it make more sense to kill the newer series that have ranked in the bottom 5 from the get go like Dois Sol or Sengoku Armors?

I forgot to translate a chunk of text in the first part. Please re-read the update. Thanks :)

It's not 100% going to be canceled, but in the "danger zone" along with Grimm and Medaka.

Shouldn't Hokenshitsu or Dois sol be more in jeopardy since they don't even sell 50k and enigma only being in a bad position for the time being?

Grimm is a possible axe since there are 3 gag manga with anime already since Inumarudashii got a net animation.

Please re-read it. If this guy's words are true, these two you've mentioned will be canceled when the next wave of incoming new series gets here.

If Enigma really got cancelled then i will decide that WSJ pollers really are idiots type of people that only like brainless action series. :-_-

I feel that Enigma is the best thing in wsj besides OP. Taste may differ, but that is not my point. I like how it built its plot pieces by pieces... it is clear that Sakaki-sensei know where the manga is going.

i hope that the guy is merely an attention-seeker.
------------------------

Looking at how the pollers vote, i feel that even if Pluto (by Urasawa) got serialized in WSJ, it won't survive. I am convinced that the ones that got cancelled are not necessarily bad mangas. >__>;

Well that's a bad comparison imo. Pluto is a seinen manga, and in the WSJ we have shonen, like the name says.
But it's nothing new knowing that even a good manga can be canceled, since all that matters are the votes from the readers and the sales of the volumes. Oumagadoki for example was a really great manga imo but we all know what happened.

Whoa, Beelze is getting better ratings than Gin? Though the Gintama DVDs will more than make up for the ratings. Still this is interesting to see. Sket's not doing so hot, so if it wants to survive, it'll really have to push itself DVD wise. Though the OP single sold well (If that means anything.) So someone has to be watching it. :-P

Will you keep posting these here? Or in another thread? I'd really like to follow ratings for these shows.

It has to do with the timeslot too, something I don't really know much about :(

It's best to use it as an indicator on whether it's going up and down, instead of comparing it with another show in a different time slot.

And sure, I'll keep posting them :P

Oumagadoki's best chapter is the first one, in my opinion. And the worst is the last one translated (about 2-3 chapters before it ended?).

Regardless, I think the poll system is fine for Jump. If many people like a series, they will vote for it. If they don't vote for it, they probably don't buy Jump for it either.
Besides, there doesn't exist a rating system (including sales) that won't cancel something you/I think is good.

(wasn't a response to SoulEaterFreak specifically)
