In the world of Tower of God, there are several kinds of 'job' like in RPG games. For most jobs, you have to pass the test to be certified for it. However, there are also few exceptions. In case you want to know more...

1. Fisherman ~ Fisherman is considered most important point in direct, short-range fights. They usually carry light weapons, thus giving them speed needed in fast fights. There are Reel Fishermen, who use Reel Inventories to attack their enemy at medium range, and Man-to-man Fishermen, who go directly on the offensive at close range.
2. Scout ~ Scouts move ahead of the group, checking things ahead and aiding the Fishermen's attacks. Scout, like Fisherman, is expected to be able to move fast and think fast, analyzing what is ahead to form plans.They can also help to watch of the enemy's movements, read the change of Shinsoo, or collect information.
3. Spear Bearer ~ Spear Bearer, as the name suggests, uses spears in fights. Spear Bearers are important because of their abilities to attack from afar. Several Spear Bearers fight in short range (of course with more danger) but some others fight in long range.
4. Wave Controller ~ Wave Controller controls Shinsoo, the element around the tower. The Shinsoo can later be used as offense or defense. It is known for having the hardest difficulty level among other positions, but is also very useful once can be mastered.
5. Light Bearer ~ Light Beareruses exploring devices called Lighthouses to gather information which would be helpful in battles. Sometimes they also use their Lighthouses to give light to other players as the battles are often done in dark areas.

Special jobs:

1. Anima ~ Anima is a specialization in which a person is able to control an animal to do his wishes. Counted as part of Wave Controller group.
2. Guide ~ Guide leads the way for the team. Guide usually works with a Light Bearer. Guide has excellent analysis skills and has vast knowledge regarding the tower to be able to show the way around. It is said that an A-rank guide can determine the power of an individual just by looking at them.
3. Dansoolsa ~ No further information known so far. Counted as part of Wave Controller group.

This thread is intended for any discussions regarding the positions. Let's start by stating which job/position you like the most, and why. Or if you can imagine yourself taking the test, which job do you want to get?

I know the princesses and some others awesome character yet to be introduced, like Urek Mazino, are fisherman...but Baam and Laure made think Wave Controller is the mos awesome position of all!!!! Of course Light Bearer, Spear Bear and Scouts proved to be very useful and indispensable in some occasions, Koon made me think that too (and more recentely his brother)!

@phio: You forgot to add Kurudan's class, which is also a Special position for the Wave Controller. Even though we don't have much information about it as of now.

I think the scout can also evolve in an "assassin" class: fast, analyzing, gathering information, discrete ...
At first, it seems that the scout is the weakest class but it could be surprising.

Wow didn't see in that way. But you're absolutely right, kinda like Assassin's Creed style. I definetly approve of it. You made it even harder for me to decide on a good position.

Haha~ To be honest, yes, I too am in favor of Wave Controller at the moment. It has proven to be a hard job to master, but worth the effort. Since Shinsoo is very important in life in tower, being able to control it must've been awesome. Though I also like Spear Bearer because I like long-range attacks and the cute Gator is so awesome...

Thank you for the input, HS! I added it to the first post. It's unfortunate that we don't know much about it yet; maybe it is just that Dansoolsa can control Shinsoo from distance? Since Kurudan wasn't near Ren when he did that, right?

I wonder if there is indeed evolution in this job/rank/position system. You get stronger, yes, and get special title(s) as you advanced, but is there really something as levels of a job? XD

hmm interesting point but I doubt that they are levels for the jobs, at least not by name. Maybe specializations like the "Anima" but no concrete ranks for the job. What I found interesting is that guys like Urek Mazino are Fishermen but are versed in every job so that means you are not limited to the job you're getting early on. I would see it as a tendency to what job is most suited for you which means you could handle other fields pretty well too.

For now my favourite definitely is the Wave Controller, Shinsoo has proved itself to be the most important thing inside the tower so having control over it seems like a huge advantage. Who knows what unbelievable stuff you could do with it, I remember Yuri saying that Urek Mazino can shoot Shinsoo like a laser, that alone sounds pretty interesting.

Thanks to the recent chapter (77) we got a clue concerning the position of a guide. Apparently, only those who are gifted by the Tower can be one. So that makes Hwa Ryu even more awesome because she is also very talented as Wave Controller.

of course I wasn't just talking about Urek Mazino, I guess there a tons of people able to do pretty well in the different jobs. He's the only one I read about who mastered all the jobs though.

read above, Urek Mazino is said to have mastered all of them XD dunno how well though. Not sure about Zahard but if there really is a god of the tower he should be able to do everything he want

the first part tells you about their level in the different jobs. The rating goes from -100 to 100 so you can see that both are relatively good in every aspect, especially Hansung. Her Wave Controller rating is 90 so I guess she has pretty beasty skills in that aspect even Ren who was their Wave Controller teacher only has a rating of 60.

I know this thread is almost a decade old, but since It exists I suppose we should not make a double of It and Just keep on the theme.

My suspicion is that we might have actually a special position for each of the 13GW. It started with the notion that Jahad is actually able to see the future, which means he is a Guide. Add to It that Arlene is the yet not mentioned in lore Sorceress. It came to me that there might be some special positions to be known that SIU is keeping from us, along with the only introduced Dansulsa.

Outline:
1- Jahad is confirmed a Guide. Lo Po Bia an anima since ever. Edwan a Jeonsulsa. And its pretty obvious that Yeon Hana is a Hwayeomsulsa. Lore says Hendo Lok Bloodmadder is a Defender.

2- Wonsulsa School belongs to Gustang, he founded It. The badge that Mule Love wore for having a Wonsulsa acknowledgement from that School has Po Bidau's crest in It, what looks like a Blue Oar. I take It is an unquestionable proof that Po Bidau Gustang is the first Wonsulsa ever.

3- Not yet announced as such but clearly named in the story is the Sorcerer likely special position. Arlene was able to cast spells and some other rare people can too. It has become a thing lately.

4- Also unnanounced as such, I have a feeling that Swordmaster Will eventually be another special position. Its nearly Impossible to fight with Swords in High Shinsoo concentrations, and yet some rare people manage to pull this stunt. But perhaps not with this name. We all know Arie family rules It tho.

5- And although not entirely explained, Dansulsa means 'Single technique user' while the only time we Saw It, It defeated Lo Po Bia Ren in one move. My take on this is that It consists of all put into one move. Eurasia Blossom fights using Shinsoo offensively and its Said she accelerates Shinsoo. Its a conjectyre but I think she might be a Dansulsa.

We have left Ha Yuri, Viole, Ari Han and Tu Perie for this to be confirmed.
