If it didn happened, maybe they should change a magazine's name from Shonen Jump to Shonen Romcom. :XD

I figure one of you well informed individuals might be able to answer this question. How much stock can you put into the little captions put in on the title pages of a series. I only ask because in the most recent chapter of Nisekoi had a caption saying "Super Popular...." talking about the manga I assume.

http://www.mangareader.net/nisekoi/10/6

Regardless of what you say, Imma just gonna take it as a good sign for now, until I see how it sells.

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

Nah, I kind of feeling like like Jump seems to have something with romcom......There are already three romcom series; Medaka Box announced that it'll be romcom; Beelzebub's recent chapters are becoming like romcom; Kurogane seems to romcom situation coming up; and there going to be a romcom one shot on next issue.
It's not like the romcom section of Medaka (Which is really hasn't been since it was suppose to turn into one) will last for long anyway... Nisio's a god damn troll. Quoting Andrews review of one of the later Monogatari novels, spoilers removed.

<removed name of the story which has the characters name in it>
So, <removed> on the cover.
Um.
One would expect she might be in it, right?
NOPE.
I was honestly wondering if they'd swapped manuscripts with <removed> somehow. After all, 99% of this book is Araragi and <removed> [expletive] around with <removed>.

He did the same thing with the novel released 4 weeks ago, named it after a character <Character> End. She barely appeared in it and the way he resolved a situation (which a lot of people were worried about even though the one of the earlier novels was set after this one) was completely fucking masterful trolling, especially when you see some things in Nisemonogatari 2 that just aired. (The closet, you god Nisio)

Nisio trolled EVERYONE about an upcoming Medaka and Zenkichi fight, if he leads you to believe something like the manga is coming to an end or that it's turning into a romcom than the best course is not to believe it.

The editors put those words to every new series even axed ones. The editors not going to put "please vote because it is doing poor." So, you shouldn't judge about how series is doing by what the editors wrote; you should judge by its ranking like Nisekoi is having good start on ranking.

Not sure yet. Maybe it is another data book, like One Piece Blue/Red/Yellow/Green.

3 Sket volumes in 3 months? Isn't that stupid? Then we won't have a new volume until September at least..

So I guess there won't be a third season for Mago this summer, that's a shame.

How come?

And I find it hard to believe that three Sket Dance volumes will come out in three months. Sure there might be enough material but still...

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

wikipediaThe first guidebook, One Piece: Red – Grand Characters was released on March 2, 2002.[84] The second guidebook, One Piece: Blue – Grand Data File, was released on August 2, 2002.[85] The third guidebook, One Piece: Yellow – Grand Elements, was released on April 4, 2007,[86] and the fourth guidebook, One Piece: Green – Secret Pieces, was released on November 4, 2010.

It's already out, I have it myself. Maybe an artbook or an edited rerelease?

No, he is correct. Three volumes of Sket Dance will be coming out in consecutive months starting in February. I am not sure why they are, the only thing I can think of is that Shueisha expects an increase in popularity and wants to cash in, somewhat akin to releasing volume one and two of Torko on the same day back in 2008. I could be wrong, of course. That is only a guess.

Source: http://www.s-manga.net/newcomic/future/ Sket Dance's title is in Roman letters, not kanji, so it is nice and easy to find

Why aren't they releasing a volume of Hunter x Hunter? Surely there must be enough manga material for a volume or two...

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

Togashi waits until he goes on hiatus before releasing new volumes. On the bright side, there's enough material for two (possibly three if he doesn't go on hiatus for another two months) new volumes.

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

They tend to wait and release new volumes when Togashi is going to return from hiatus. At least part of the reason for this has been the need for him to clean up the artwork for a volume release, and I suspect that even with the quality of the art being good (instead of the barely-qualifies-as-a-draft the weekly art could be before) this remains a consideration.

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

Exactly, they do the same for Berserk. There are always new chapters out lest volumes come out and the story is not fresh in readers minds. The last two volumes came out a month before and month of his return from the most recent hiatus. If he is not going back on hiatus anytime soon I do wonder when the next volume will come out. If he does go on hiatus in eight weeks I suppose there will be three volumes to coincide with his next return, just like there were two this time.

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

If Togashi keeps running consistently rather than going on hiatus they'll probably eventually start coming out with volumes. But yeah, there's usually an advertisement campaign saying "you can buy the new volumes now and read the continuation in Jump starting the next week!"
Now that he's gotten into a new arc it's possible there might not be many-months-long hiatuses again. But we'll see.

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

Actually it's really unfair for other Jump authors that Togashi is getting such a special treatment.Has he really been sick for all these years that he has to frequently go on a hiatus?I mean, even the great Oda doesn't exploit his popularity (OP sells 3x more than HxH).

But don't get me wrong here,I really like Hunter x Hunter (my most favorite series in Jump) but he should be treated equally as any other Jump author...

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

Why should he be treated the same? It's Kodansha that wants him and he was able to get great conditions, is that a problem now? There's only a contract between those two, not us.
Further talk about his hiatuses in the HxH Hiatus thread. :P It's Oda's first big hit, which he wants to end first before taking a rest period or/and loves his fans. It's not like the OP is near the bottom of the [short]hiatus list itself. Once he's done with it, he could get the best contract himself.
