Hello! :amuse

I had wondered why Bleach was called Bleach. I also wonder how long this last arc will be. I hope that it will be more like Soul Society arc.

I wanted to know if anyone here knows what happened to Manga Streams message board. It was there one day and gone the next it seems.

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

I always thought Bleach was called Bleach had something to do with how Ichigo has orange hair. They mentioned it early on, that if he cared about fitting in he would've dyed his hair black. So bleaching one's hair orange would be the opposite, and making one's self stand out.
It's probably something like that, really... I remember the reason D. Gray-Man was called that was a similar vague philisophical reason.

Course there might be a Konjiki no Gash kind of reason where he turned gold right at the very end.

Is there a reason the manga is called Bleach, or is that a secret?
The Soul Reaper - the color that you associate with the Soul Reaper is black. But "black" is too straightforward. So I thought about "white", but white is too simple. So if you put "bleach", somebody can associate that with white. So that's how Bleach came.
enjoy =D But I think that Ichigo's hair is also a part of it despite what he has said. There are a lot of ways you can take "Bleach" to mean after all... whether it's symbolic or literal :) And random fact, but in the original os Ichigo's hair was black instead of famous orange :3

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

Kubo has already explained why it is called bleach already.
"Tite Kubo himself ( the creator of bleach ) gave two reasons to calling it that. One was a symbolic reason. As the soulreapers cleanse souls, it's like they are "bleaching" their souls. Like how bleaching in a clothes sense means to remove stains and blemishes, the shinigami remove sin and corruption from the souls. The other reason he gave is because "Bleach" was the name of his favorite Nirvana (thats right, kurt kobain nirvana) album. "
For those who are asking why Bleach is named Bleach.

It looks like there going to be a big merchandise project is coming for Hunter x Hunter. I wonder this project convinces Togashi to not to go on hiatus.

Just to clarify:
Kagami has its final chapter in 2012-10
It will have an epilogue in 2012-11

I would assume it'll be an actual chapter since we didn't get the usual "Please look forward to Kanou-sensei's next work!" message.

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

I think some people are still might be a bit confused about Kagami no Kuni no Harisugawa.

Basically, the same thing that happened to Anedoki is currently happening to Harisugawa. Anedoki ended on chapter 25 and was given a 3 page chapter called "epilogue" or chapter 26, that took place after the events of chapter 25.

This week was the last actual chapter of Harisugawa!

The final chapter of Anedoki was called epilogue. The end of this weeks Harisugawa said END, but said that next Issue will be a epilogue. Meaning it will take place after the current events of the manga. It will also probably be 3-5 pages, making it more of an Omake than an actual chapter.

This also means another series (ST&RS or Pakki) could possibly be cancelled next week.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was also mentioned in this weeks Bleach Rebeat&Reboot, that it took Kubo more than 5 years to plan the upcoming arc.

So it's been planned for a little less than half the series' life? I guess it's good to know that he had something in mind for the end game of the series.

That makes me really pumped up! On the other hand: If he make a bad arc now, he's really screwed, at least in my opinion. After 5 years of planning it should be good! :)

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

Can't really talk about Kagami but after everything I read the mangaka seems like a joke to me, maybe he should try to work with another magazine if he wants to make a dark series and try to come up with a something where he doesn't run out of ideas after ~30 chapters.

Magico won't be canceled, I may repeat myself but the plot doesn't even show the slightest sign to end anytime soon. It's TOC position is slowly getting better so I guess it's pretty safe until the next round. ST&RS will be canceled too so I doubt that there will be another series.

It was also mentioned in this weeks Bleach Rebeat&Reboot, that it took Kubo more than 5 years to plan the upcoming arc.
So Kubo actually planned something? Maybe the last Arc isn't doomed then, I won't get my hopes up too high though.

After this weeks chapter I think there is a very good that HxH ends, rather than go on hiatus again. A lot depends on what happens next week, this weeks developments were enough of a cliffhanger that nothing is definite. But the plot of the series could be resolved as early as next week, Togashi could end the series with this volume if he really wants to. It would be a horribly rushed ending but it is entirely possible. There are a lot of directions this can go, that is only the worst case scenario. But this weeks chapter does set up the real possibility of ending in six chapters. That would explain why he did not go on hiatus this year, if he had already planned the end for this year. The merchandising project could be tied to the anime, if the manga ends.

Yeah, it was kind of agreeable that HxH may end, but there are still few unexplain things like what happened to Killua/Alluka and what will happen on Kurapika versus Phantom Troops. There are few things HxH have that I think it cannot resolve within few chapters. If HxH does end within six chapters, then I think the many readers are not going to like it without revealing those parts.

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

oh i don't want to doom anything right now, bad the next years could look really bad for jump, with so many series ending in the near future.
defnitely within the next 2 years ---> naruto, bakuman, gintama
maybe within the next 2 years ---> medaka, katekayo, hxh, sket dance (they in their last school year but it could go on)

it's not impossible to end hxh without reveal everything. don't forget that you need a red string to tie up every unmentioned piece together that don't feel awkward. sometimes it's better to let the reader use his imagination and speculation for something then to do another arc with incoherent revealing of old things that are left off.

Really I didn't see this chapter as a sign of ending, just a standard cliffhanger. If he wanted to end it now, he could have made a proper ending after the ant arc rather than waste 20 chapters on an election. Togashi may be tired of Hunter but I would not understand why he would rush an end in 6 chapters rather than the half year he had at the beginning

I don't personally think it's a sign it's ending either, I think Togashi just wanted to do something big.

Even if it starts winding down, I think we're gonna have at least one more arc before the end.
