Yeah shaving is a pain. I wouldn't mind so much if I could grow a thick lustrous beard or connecting goatee but nope it's just not happening. Someday perhaps.

I am in the exact same situation.... I also have a very defined shadow which is annoying. I have a grey area on my face even after a very thorough shave.

I confess I haven't taken a razor to my face in quite sometime. Trim short, yes. I don't get a close enough shave with a razor anyways, and a 5'oclock shadow is where it's at

It's really bad when you got a bad razor... and with any hint of pressure used, your neck looks like someone took a whip-lashings to it and/or you have large rosy (inflammed) cheek bumps all over your neck...

And my facial hair grows too fast too... argh.

That's why you shave with the grain and then against it (if your facial hair is really thick). People also make the mistake of using a razor too long, the protective coating only lasts so long.

I've never taken a razor to my face, I know that it gives a closer shave but I just do not like the idea of putting a blade to my face and risking scarring or damaging my skin.

Well, scarring your face by shaving is a little unlikely lol.... Cuts are almost certain but nothing that would actually scar you. One of my main problems with shaving is that my skin gets easily irritated (almost invariably end up with itchy red skin afterwards).... I have tried several aftershaves and razors and yet nothing. And of course, I don't grow a thick enough beard or mustache to do anything with it. Only way that does not leave me with many cuts ( I cut myself a lot regardless of the razor I use) is the electric shaver however that is not a very close one to say the least...
