Chapter 1 of 1/11 has been translated. I found it very mediocre, quite derivative of Touch/Cross Game and Area no Kishi but without the warmth and story telling depth of those manga. I'll at least read the first volume before passing final judgment, no harm in at least giving the story a little time to develop.

why dows to lore ru get so many color/cover pages? it feels like it get those every second chapter. not that i dislike them, it just seems a bit unbalanced and unfair to the other mangaka. that the artist of to love ru got enough free time to do extra works, which the other mangakas can't do don't seems to be the reason, mostly because it's a monthly release and there are other story writer / artist duo's.

yeah, I know what you are talking about. Well, this time I guess that the series will have a color page because that volume 4 will go on sale :) But its really strange how many color pages this series wins O_O

I notice that Tegami Bachi is in a similar position as it was for the past few issues. I'm not losing my sleep over it or anything, but it's a little concerning.

TLR and Ao no Exorcist are the two that I see a lot of cover & color pages for. :3

It looks like AnE going to have a live-adaptation stage.

incredibly how many pieces of 01. Ao no Exorcist Volume 7 = 795,573 were sold, after just 7 volumes. i mean it plays at the level of naruto and hxh,who lasted longer and if i'm not mistaken, for an unknown mangaka. seems like he hit a nerv with that one.

She. Katou is a woman. Ao is a good example of anime doing it's job, from an publishers perspective. The anime presumably introduced AnE to many readers who do not purchase SQ. The doujin market most likely helped as well, there is a already a sizable amount of Ao no Exorcist yaoi daojin listed at Mangaupdates, which means there is likely even more available in Japan. The ability of the doujin market to push a title should never be underestimated.

Let's slow down on the Naruto comparisons though. Every Naruto volume sells over a million copies, though it takes a week or two longer now than it did a year or two ago. AnE does not sell that well yet, maybe it will someday but there is no way of knowing that now. Naruto is a good comparison in that the doujin market is also partially responsible for it's success in Japan. As for sales the better comparison is with Shingeki no Kyojin (which I assume is not well liked by the Comiket crowd :p) , both of which sell about the same number of copies per volume. AnE is an older series though, so total volumes sold favors AnE. The last two copies of HxH also sold over a million copies, more popular than any AnE volume. Prior to 2011 the comparison would have been quite apt.

It's makes me happy that women have the top two selling manga in the magazine. :) I'd love to see a similar trend in other shonen magazines; it might be a near impossible feat but I can still hope.

Jump SQ is very strong at female authors; Katou Kazue, Hoshino Katsura, Clamp, Sakura Kenichi, and Furukawa Shiori. Plus, another female author going to join on next month.

Sounds like an Anime-Adaption of this Series. TV, OVA or a Movie, I don´t know^^

Yeah I noticed that. When I heard that DGM was moving to SQ I thought that maybe we wouldn't get hiatuses anymore, but it looks like Hoshino Katsura's carpal tunnel syndrome is still pretty bad (or was it some other wrist problem she had?).

Do you think there's a reason for this such as the editors being more willing to hire women or is it simply a coincidence? No matter what, it's still pretty cool.

In my biased opinion, Hoshino is a queen so she can do whatever she wants. However, I'd be worried if the absence was actually related to her health.

I think it is most likely a coincidence; Katou was submitting her works in Shueisha, Hoshino used to be in Jump, and Sakura and Furukawa used serialized their works in Shueisha. They are from mangakas from Shueisha, so it is not weird for the editors to give them a chance.

Even there is successful female mangakas in SQ, it is still dominated by male mangakas.

Yeah, that makes sense: editors will be more likely to hire someone they're already be familiar with. Here I was hoping this was the start of something new in the industry. >_<

Even if SQ is still male dominant, it's still doing better than other magazines. I still have to give it some credit!
