That's rather amusing, but yeah it shouldn't be entirely surprising that some artists have backgrounds as ****** artists. Though after this bit of news, some things make more sense.

The dude fromc Bastard! also was a ****** artist.. Magical Taruuruto kun mangaka too.. (But I think he first did Taruuruto, then ******), I am sure there are a number of mangakas that first did some dojinshi and then did manga for JUMP other magazines.

Bastard! mangaka is only an assistant to a ****** mangaka, I think. Don't know about Magical Taruuruto kun mangaka though (I'm not even familiar with the series).

What about doujinka? Hoshino Katsura of D.Gray-man drew Naruto doujinshi before publishing her oneshots. I think Amano Akira drew doujinshi as well. It would be neat to see how much "unofficial" experience Jump mangaka had before making it big. If anything else, it makes for good practice!

There are quite a few mangaka or manhwaka who do their own doujins.

Doujinshi let them try out their own style, while working as an assistant, they've got to follow their boss's style. There are without a doubt some ex-****** artitist working for Kondansha/Shogakukan and their independent subsidiaries. Masahiro Itosugi or Oh! Great have obvious ties to that industry.

Really?? would love to see some of her Naruto doujins one day if that's true.

I emailed Viz asking the same question since I live in Italy, and they said it's not possible.

so according to ANN, there's RuroKen -Cinema ban- and RuroKen Chapter Zero,
with Cinema Ban being sort of a "prequel" for the Cinema, and Chapter Zero is coming to WSJ???

I thought Chapter Zero was suppose to be just Jump SQ.... wonder if it's gonna be a full fledged serialization or more like short oneshot-type stuff....

well, guess I can now give up on Embalming *shrug*

meh...As much as I loved Rurouni Kenshin, I'd rather Watsuki just stick with Embalming :/

Has this happened before? where an author just drops a series they're working on so they can work on a series that's been long since completed? :/ I'd rather they just left RK alone, it had a good and satisfying ending.

Well I can't think of any specific examples but it doesn't really strike me as odd especially when you remember that this is a business and the author is more than likely going to want to do whatever will pay the bills.

Nisekoi is now completely out of stock on several online retail sites including Amazon and Tsutaya and has also sold out or nearly sold out in many bookstores in Japan.
