Discussion Who will get the Devil fruit that appeared?

I do think one of the Strawhats will get it...

but which one ?

For me, there's no real reason to give it to either Sanji or Zorro, simply because they need to be kept on par with each other as far as strength goes and giving one a Devil fruit power would tip the scales too much.

So we're left with Ussop, Nami and Franky...

Now as far as Franky goes, he already has his thing going on, so in my opinion we're left with Nami and Ussop, both of which seem to have Innate skills already, Ussop has incredible aim and Nami has a type of Weather-Sense..

I'll take a guess at Nami though, simple for the sake of the Poll... which I will also include all 5 members of the crew who do not already have powers.

As far as other options... I thought about it, but there's not many main characters left on the island available as options.

There is only really Tashigi and I'd rather she get her power naturally to challenge Zorro.

I'm all for changing the Poll (is that possible) if people wanna give their characters and their theories as to why they'd get it

To be honest I don't think any of the strawhats will get the axolotl fruit. For one thing, luffy, brook, chopper and robin are already fruit users which basically rules out half the crew. Then we have zoro, sanji, nami, ussop and franky. Franky has no need for such a thing, ussop as a sniper would not benefit from being part lizard/fish something. Nami and robin turning into scaly gilled lizards would be the least sexy thing in the manga since foxy. Zoro and sanji would not benefit from it either. Its an underwater lizard with gills, half its abilities would be plain useless. I doubt any strawhat would want to be this animal honestly and I doubt any of them would want the fruit at all. I also doubt that is at all the direction oda was going with this. I could see one of the kids accidentally eating the fruit though.

Agreed. There are options beyond just the SHs. To be honest, it's probably more likely that some random person eats it than a member of the crew at this point.

You're right. I'd totally forgotten the animal associated with Usopp. The other animals, for the most part, seemed obvious. That could indeed have been some foreshadowing. I think that does increase the chance that Usopp, or KuroKabuto, take advantage of the DF.

^actually brownbeard getting it would not be so bad. If wikipedia's info on that particular animal is to be believed then those little bastards have some insane regenerative capacities. They are the wolverines of the lizard world to a great extent. If brownbeard eats it he could actually get back his lost limbs and organs.

What benefit would ussop get from his slighshot eating that? Axolotls are gilled lizards with a healing factor. Outside of looking like something that could eat you in a tim burton movie they don't do much. Adding the fruit to a slingshot would literally add nothing here here except perhaps use the regeneration abilities to spawn new limbs and throw them with the slingshot.

We do. There's a book listening up all Devil Fruits and their powers. So we can assume that the Axolotl fruit has always been an apple, and that the power won't change. It would be no use in writing such a book if the fruits and/or the powers would be randomly changed after a transfer.

It doesn't automatically mean that it will be related to lizard or poison, or anything like that...

Hell, it could be the Fire Fruit that is supposed to come back since Ace died!
If that would be the case, then the most suited to have it on the crew would be Sanji since he's a cook!

it will probably stay zoan but we dont know if it will change model? it could be model chameleon or gecko or any of lizard family, we dont know how DF function in that field
