Discussion Who will get the Devil fruit that appeared?

Why would we assume the model could change though? Isn't the more rational assumption that the fruit woudl remain the same? Seems like a random thing to even consider lol.

But the manga told us smiley had an axolotl fruit. The apple not being an axolotl would be huge trolling on oda's part at this stage of the game.

The fact that Smiley ate the axoltotl fruit and is still alive makes it 100% sure that the Devil Fruit that was saw last chapter is NOT a devil fruit with the axoltotl power.

Except that we have every reason to believe smiley is very much dead, including the farewell ceasar gave him. As far as we know that cloud is just deadly gas, not actually smiley. Oda pulled a very dark turn this arc.

In that case, it would make sense that the Devil Fruit appears at that time.

I doubt that anyone from the crew will eat that fruit then, it would be surprising to see anyone transform into a salamander.
Although, Axolotls are damn cute!

Some interesting facts:
1- Axolotl means "Water Monster"
2- Axolotls stay in larvae form forever (kinda like a tadpole that never becomes a frog)
3- Axolotls can completely regrow a lost limb (sometime even grow extra limbs!) and even some vital organs!!!

I dont think any SH will eat the fruit. I have no real clue what will happen with the fruit. It could be found by the SH or a random person. But what i would like is what souljapoy said and KuroKabuto will consume the fruit. That could be fun.

If one of the SH will eat the fruit it will most likely be Ussop. And im saying this because of this one chapter cover.

Seeing how Usopp's animal is a lizard as well, it would definitely put him on the top position IF anyone from the crew eats it.

I'm also thinking that maybe an object could eat it (although, it was never explained how that worked), and Usopp weapons could be interesting, although I don't see how his weapon would benefit from being a water salamander...

But aside from them, who could eat it?

I mean, from those we know that are on the island and that we would actually care if they eat it, there's only those few from the crew and Tashigi.
I guess Tashigi could eat it, but that would be surprising...

Maybe this was done, only to show us how the Devil Fruit were created.
Or maybe some random dude could eat it, and then someone will explain some stuff about how Devil Fruit works...

i accept it staying Sara sara fruit but its short for salamander salamander fruit and axolotl isnt only genus of salamander. there can be two sam df in the OP but there cant be two same powers at the same time...


btw that axolotl looks like luffy when smiling

It doesn't automatically mean that it will be related to lizard or poison, or anything like that...

But then the Book of the Devil Fruits would be rendered completely useless. It shows both pictures and a description of its powers as Sanji and Blackbeard were able to determine the fruit they wanted the most. (And Axolotls aren't poisonous - that's an urban legend which Oda picked up by having poisonous slime becoming an axolotl slime monster)

I actually expect pretty much that a DF appears out of nowhere in Nami's orange trees.

Actually that image with ussop as a lizard was a tad interesting. Of course, as an actual axolotl the fruit would be useless as that actually is an underwater animal however if oda mixes it up between an axolotl and a salamander it could be interesting. The fruit would indeed add up to ussops mobility (being able to climb to tricky locations and take even more damage) and it would suit the animal ussop is inspired on. While the fruit itself would not add to ussop as a sniper the extra mobility and the ability to climb to better locations would actually help him as a sniper. While interesting, I don't think this will happen though.

if regeneration is a skill granted by this fruit, then it could be a fruit that's a slight inferior to the phoenix (slightly slower regen and no flight powers)

it could also just be standard lizard powers

it depends on what oda wants to grant this fruit

Well don't think anyone will end up with Smiley's DF. I actually hope that it gets destroyed in the poison cloud and reconstitutes as a poison Axoltol.. or turns to cheese.

that wouldn't achieve anything though, except make usopp's shots exceptionally hard to line up

i wonder if sunny could benefit from it

as a boat, and commonly depicted by oda, more than half its surface is above the sea at all times anyway, so in boat form it shouldn't be affected by the seawater

then sunny could follow them onto land

I don't think the idea of sunny at any time getting a fruit is reasonable. It does not even get to being practical. Sunny getting a fruit has the implication that a fruit user will be in constant contact with water. While water does not seem to actually take away abilities it does at least weaken them to a degree. Constant contact with water would result in sunny being constantly weakened. He would be a boat which would be at full power only when outside of the water. I guess it would be fun to see sunny getting legs and working as land ride but having issues with water would still make it useless.
