I think the international men bball teams are almost there. I knew that Spain was a pretty big threat against the USA team, but luckily for the Dream Team II, Mark Gasol got 4 fouls, which really hurt Spain. I also think the USA team wasn't used to the FIBA rules.

Yeah, Argentina is also a good team. It would be interesting to see what will happen in four years especially since Kobe and maybe Lebron will not be in the team. Likewise Coach K is retiring from the international stage so a new coach would be needed as well.

I think the men's game is getting closer too. USA weren't as dominant as I thought they'd be. They were really pushed by Spain in the finals and some of the teams are building quite strong ensemble of players that can give as good as they're getting.

They were dominant except for the final and maybe Lithuania. They went undefeated and won by an average of 32 points or something. If you knock out the games against Spain and Lithuania the average margin of victory is even higher. So, while the rest of the world is definitely better, they're still miles ahead of anyone else.

There is no Dream Team II .......and if there was it would have been the team at Beijing (aka The Redeem Team), given how the team needed more pride and direction after slipping a bit when they lost to Argentina and got Bronze in Athens.

But really, there is only one Dream Team, and that was in 1992 at Barcelona. Unless this team has 11 of 12 players going into the Hall of Fame down the road, I don't think it should be compared.

Spain caught up with the USA because they have players in the NBA. Best Bball players come from the NBA, so it won't change. USA will always stand above. And they were dominant except for the finals. As for Kobe or Lebron there will always be new talents in the NBA, they have plenty of choices and don't forget KD. And Kobe ain't a big deal anymore.
