Kubo always worked more than other mangaka on the movies. I don't think as much as this new trend (Road to Ninja, etc.) but still more. With FtB he went on and on about "his movie", with Hellverse he said he wanted his name removed from the DVD as Executive Producer because "he didn't work on that one that much". On FtB, he was Executive Producer too with which fact he was pleased. Shippers are pleased too

so you think that time magical appears? they already have a tight schedule and something around 6h sleep time with few free hours. there was a schedule going around the internet from sorachi around some time with this schedule. (that may vary from mangaka to mangaka, but we can say at least that they are quite busy writing the manga) this means that they need to put time off their manga to work on a movie. also don't forget that professional screenwriters write around 3-6 month fulltime on a single one, so i guess that even mangaka need more than a day for working on that, even if they already totally in their story and have a few ideas.

looks like it wasn't sorachi but someone anonymous.
I'm sort of at a loss for what your point is though. You're worrying about the quality of the manga? The health of the author? Facts are facts, there's been no discernible difference or lack of production from Oda, Kubo, or Kishi, so then what? The only non-subjective way to judge a drop in quality is art, and I can't say that's happened either.

And as far as it becoming a trend - none of the moderate successes in the magazine get movies and some even don't have anime adaptations, so unless Shueisha and an animation studio suddenly decide to throw money away I don't see a boom in movies any more than what is already regular.

Naruto and Bleach have been in decline since long before Kishi and Kubo started writing movie scripts. Oda has been as sharp as ever, his work writing two scripts has had no noticeable effect on the quality of One Piece. Quite the contrary, his work on Strong World coincided with what is possibly the most beloved saga of the entire series. Strong World was released in December 2009, ending a year that featured the Impel Down and Marineford War Arcs. One Piece has reached new heights of popularity, unprecedented in the annals of manga history, only since Oda began writing One Piece movie scripts. His work this year on One Piece Z coincided with serialization of the Punk Hazard arc. While not ascending to the heights of the War Saga, Punk Hazard has shown no sign of script writing induced decline. Quite the contrary, it has been an outstanding arc, comparable in quality, creativity, and execution to any of the best single island arcs in One Piece.

Well then their implication in the movies is maybe more for the advertisement than a real thing...
As for the no pause argument, Oda normally takes 3 or 4 extra pause per year, but there was 7 in 2009 (the year of Strong world) and we are already at 5 this year (1 or 2 more have a high chance to happen).

Edit: I don't remember when he had his baby if it's in 2009 then some of the pause were probably for that too...

Ah. Well I think it's easy to make that correlation taking his personal life out of it. There's numerous examples of authors becoming more and more sporadic as years go on as well. But I'm not sure if there's any single thing to pinpoint. Though going from three or four to seven in the span of three years isn't terribly drastic.

And I find it hard to lump Naruto and Bleach together as far as "declining". Naruto still has an ongoing anime, Bleach's was cancelled. Naruto still has movies coming out (two in the last year in fact), Bleach hasn't had one in two years.

All that being said, they can't compare to One Piece.

Oh no, please don't go there! It will end in a stupid Naruto-vs-Bleach-vs-OP war(which only One Piece can win).

And usually sales, ToC ranking are always things that One Piece wins in. They are just facts though, but that does not make Naruto or Bleach worst, I think internationally Naruto is more popular not sure how One Piece is paired up with Bleach. But the comparisons can not go further than volume sales, weekly rankings and such, since they are facts that do not speak of quality, but they are as they are.

One piece is now more popular than Naruto in France and it will also probably go this way elsewhere if this is not already the case.
And Kaiten comment was obviously subjective, I don't think it is necessary to argue. Everyone is free to think something else

Two new series will be starting:

- Date-Senpai (Gag)
- Cross Manage (Rom-com, Sports)
Cross manage was one of the recent one shot that was translated wasn't it ?
Do we know when they start ?

I can see One Piece taking the field internationally due to Naruto and Bleach nearing their end, not immediately of course, but I think it is obvious they would end before One Piece does. When one is gone things will certainly look very different for everything related within this "triad" of manga that holds that name now. (Big three, top three manga ect.) Jump will certainly be in for a big change when one is gone.

I think the suggestion that Jump is in for a big change when one is gone is a bit of an exaggeration. We've already seen decent-length series end and series take their place. Granted, none recently at that level of popularity but it's just ONE series in a magazine of 20+

As far as circulation, the only series ending that could effect that in any huge way would probably be One Piece. Just my opinion though.

actually it's not. neither is this one... who compared the two ? or said any thing about which is more popular ?! kaiten said that Naruto is declining but he wasn't talking about sales since he mentioned quality and how one piece is in a good arc that's how oda is sharp according to him

so i'm asking if it's not about sales according to what is naruto declining in quality ?! or anything for that matter ?

Hm, I think Naruto more than Bleach, since Naruto is almost second to One Piece in sales, ToC ranking as well, again not saying which is better just the numbers, but I really think Naruto ending is a a major thing. Bleach would have been previously, maybe not so much now, since generally with all manga it also does poorly in these sectors.

Naruto when compered to overall manga is right up there on top with One Piece with sales and everything, and I will say the word "popularity" but in terms of the manga being "out there" I mean come on who has not heard of NARUTO, when discussing manga? :D

The word popular may be tossed around unfairly to other manga, but it is no horror story when we say One Piece, Naruto, Bleach are popular or compare them within each other. Try comparing them to some more alternative manga in the overall picture then popularity sounds not as harsh between them. :XD

Many mangaka wished they were as internationally popular as the writers of these three.

i know, and i know one piece is more popular in japan and their best seller ever but why drag ourselves to a comparison or deem the other ones " declining " just because one piece is increasing in popularity ?

i didn't argue about which is more popular i'm not trying to start a flame war i'm just asking why did Kaiten say that Naruto is delining... that's it :D

Yes! So excited for Cross Manage, that oneshot was too good. Would also love to read Date-senpai, but with the track record gag series have with Edited Mangas I'd say the odds of me ever being able to read it are slim.

Saying something is declining in quality and not talking about sales or the art getting sloppy is subjective actually...

Fair enough. I suppose I'm just comparing anything in the magazine to One Piece ending, for which there isn't much of a comparison. Naruto would be the only one even close to it and even then it's almost accepted fact is that it will end before One Piece does. In which case the ending of OP would leave an even larger gap in the magazine.

I think that is his opinion and he will probably explain more in depth. :D But I think by decline, as I see it, he may be thinking about fans dropping the series and no new ones picking it up, in that sort of way. As he said One Piece during the war arc got more new readers. How do we know this? One Piece volume one was being bought and sold more than other current ongoing manga at that time. :XD
