A sword eating a DF is going against logic, it's not invalidating one of Oda's rules since he never stated that it was not possible. Having something devoid of will use haki is invalidating one of Oda's rules. On the other hand, an argument can be made for the possibility of objects having a will, it completely goes against logic but can still go along with Oda's rule. It wouldn't be too surprising either considering the way swords have been spoken about in the past.
People are assuming that Oda has the same definition for "will" that they do. Thats rather arrogant given the fact that his definition of eating/ingesting things is very different from everyone else's. That was the point of the DF example. Oda never stated that cyborgs or inanimate objects cannot come to have will. Arguing otherwise is pointless. A sword ingesting something is just as illogical as an inanimate object possessing will if you evaluate the possibility of the latter based off of your own definitions and possibilities. But this isn't about anyone else's opinion of what is logical, plausible, or valid. Its about looking as what Oda defines as logical, plausible, or valid and his actions suggest that a cyborg being able to possess a will and thus Haki is right up OP alley and one of the easier things to believe.

Is there anything that'd suggest that cyborgs or inanimate objects, or even normal animals can have will?
Oda's definition of eating a DF is the same as ours, it's scientific progress and not different mechanics of OP world that'd allow anything else than sentient beings to eat DF. It's not about definitions, it's about the world being dynamic. In that sense, a haki-allowing will could even be implanted into cyborgs, but there is nothing suggesting such a tremendous progress, so it's reasonable to go by common sense ad facts until proven wrong.
You're pretty much just argumenting "nothing is impossible, so Kuma having haki is possible".

I don't see how that shows that Oda has a different definition of ingestion to everyone else, to me objects having DFs just shows that there is a special method which doesn't require one to ingest it, but we shouldn't jump to conclusions since we haven't even seen the process yet. But yeah, there have been plenty of cases of Oda defying conventional logic so there's always the possibility of objects having will.

Sure i guess that works. And you're arguing exactly what? That if something doesn't fall under the purview of what you believe to be "science" then it is not possible or likely to happen? Thats just your definition of what you think is science in OP. Btw a sword or a gun eating anything is not a scientific progress because all swords and guns don't eat things left and right in OP. Thats called Oda allowing things to happen that aren't explained scientifically, they are entirely a different process that he clearly doesn't feel the need to explain. Much like he doesn't feel the need to explain how the Gates of Justice came to exist or how Skypiea exists and so on and so forth these examples fall under a mile long list. Yet you've come to accept all of those things because they have been written into the manga. Which means that you can just wait till Oda makes this a reality as well and then you can come to accept that as well if you like. The chances of it happening are more likely then a sword eating a DF, had you not see the latter for yourself that is.

Something unexpected..... [Film Z spoilers]

So in Film Z, it was explained that Zephyr (Z) had his arm severed and almost all of his students killed by a pirate with a DF. And then a while later this same pirate became a Shichibukai, which was the last straw for Zephyr, causing him to leave the Marines and start the Neo Marines. At the time of watching I thought that perhaps this pirate was Doflamingo, because he seems very strong and he's cut off Little Oars Jr.'s leg with seemingly little effort.

But then when I read Volume 1000 later, it was stated that the pirate who caused Zephyr so much misery became a Shichibukai a year ago from the current storyline (i.e. post time-skip). This pirate must therefore be one of the three new Shichibukai.

I doubt it's Law. If it's him it would mean he'd been a pirate for at least seven years, plus severely wounded a former admiral and killed most of his students, and still be called a rookie (Supernovas at Sabaody). Not to mention he seemed too weak for that. And it's unlikely to be another Supernova for the same reason.

Another possibility for unrevealed Shichibukai is Buggy. Yeah, I know there's a lot of controversy surrounding this, but that's not the point of this thread. But again, it seems unlikely that Buggy would cut off a former admiral's arm and still only have a bounty of 15,000,000 beli and be very weak.

So who else could this Shichibukai possibly be, given what they did nine years ago? Do you think it could be a character we don't currently know about?

Well, if we apply logic, the 3rd new shishibukai must really be a completely new person.
Everyone on that list (excluding buggy, who is a given) couldnt hurt a marine admiral that many years ago, especially the listed supernovas.
Well, the WB-pirates could, maybe, but they wont join WG.
And enel was confirmed to never been a pirate ( he hasnt even seen the "blue sea")
I liked that "roche tomson" prediction. Betting on some ID prisoner aswell.

Well, out of 3 new shichibukai, oda must have chosen to introduce a new character,as the other 2 are already known. Yet,I haven't understood this: if he became shichibukai a year ago,how could zephyr have left the marines so long ago?

He left the admiral-post and became an instructor several years ago, thats why you didnt saw him in the manga til the timeskip. What he did 1 year ago was "just" quitting his instructor duties aswell and forming the NeoMarines

Just to be specific, he left his Admiral position 31 years ago.

I'd go with Bonney since she was taken as prisoner by Akainu. I guess she'd rather become a marine paw than sit in prison without foooood :D

Bonney already had some connection to the World Government, Akainu simply took her back. She did not seem interested in going back, either. I doubt she would want to be an ally, she did not seem to like them very much.

it is possible for Bonney to be the new warlord however, i think she is likely to be an experiment project of the WG under Vegapunk
My guess is the new Warlord is not going to be a human however, a creature or a different species

Law, Buggy, and a new character. They all can't be old favorites.

My question is not so much who joins, but for how much longer does the government even maintain the post? The Shichibukai are falling apart. Of the nine identified members, five have already either resigned or been expelled. Crocodile, Gecko Moriah, Jinbe, Teach, and now Doflamingo. Law's status is currently unknown, and likely undecided. Considering the Governments hatred for Luffy, Law could well be expelled himself. Three positions were just filled during the time skip. Another position is already open, and possibly a second. The Shichibukai are supposed to be feared and respected. How much fear and respect could the position inspire after so much recent turmoil? The Government can't even maintain consistent membership.

Now that Doflamingo is gone... I'd say either Eneru or an Impel Down escapee...
