Ha Man Utd are out :lmao

Stupid ref decision, but hey, shit happens. I remember the first game of Liverpool's season when Skirtel was sent off for almost the same thing, where the striker came from behind as he was about to clear the ball and hit the striker instead. I actually thought the ten men would hang on to that lead...tough luck for United.

Bottom line for me is that the referee could have given a yellow card, but meh, what's done is done.

And today, fairly interesting match with PSG and Valencia in the second half. I did not like the first half since it lacked motivation of both parts, that first goal spiced things up. Juve .. that was expected. Now to next week with the most interesting match of the 1/8 final.

Indeed, Josef.

It probably should've been a yellow, but it's over now and it's not as if was the biggest robbery every or anything.

That first half was one of the poorest first halves I've ever seen. It turned better in the second half, but Valencia just didn't have enough of a cutting edge to get that second goal and bring it to ET.

Juve winning was expected.

In terms of Barca vs Milan, I picked Milan to go through after the events of the first leg, but technically, all Barca have to do is win 2-0 and then there's ET. If, however, Milan get a goal, Barca need four to move on, which shouldn't be happening.

I didn't watch any of today's matches and I was pretty sure of the results. I'm also quite confident Milan will go through, judging by Barca's recent form. Unlike what some may believe, Barca haven't just been playing bad for the games they've lost, there's a been a few performances before then too, but the loss against Milan obviously hit home, then twice in a row against Madrid. I'm not gonna put it beyond them to win or even crush Milan; I believe they have the quality to do so but if it's as open and free-flowing as Man Utd vs Madrid, Milan will win.

About this red card controversy. You have to consider what a ref sees in real-time. Nani was flying through the air and spiked someone in the chest. Did he see that he was most likely tracking the ball the entire time and unaware of a Madrid player being in that spot? My guess is no. In a moment's glance it was a dangerous play and I'm not really surprised it was a straight red. Man U just had awful luck there.

Cakir's not exactly the best ref in the world and he has a history of sending off players from English sides in big matches. I'm not saying that it means anything, but...

Honestly it's grasping at straws. They always do this. "Oh he sent off english/english team players before! What horrible bias! Corrupt! etc etc" He's only done it against english teams 3 times before. The ones he sent off were not that controversial as well. I hope he is not hounded to an early retirement. But I suppose working in Turkey he can handle a little butthurt united fans.

It's actually four times against English teams and once against the English national team in the space of like 16 months. Now, I don't believe in that crap that someone has something against a team/country, but there are always questions.

Tom Henning Ovrebo was corrupt though and, while Iniesta still had to make that magical shot to win the tie, robbed us by not awarding us penalty after penalty. I'll never believe that he wasn't in the hip pocket of someone. If it's one decision in a match, you can get over it, but four? No way is that not corruption.

Gonna support Spurs and Benfica on the Europe League. Benfica because it's from my country, and even though the rivalry between them and my team, i want obviously for them to go as far as they can, even though right now they are not playing that well, though they did play with a lot different players, whose are not first choice normally. But it will be good for us if Benfica does a good performance on Europe League. We need to have more points than France, so we can have the chance of having 3 teams on CL, like this year.

And at Spurs case, it's not about the club or anything like that. Villas Boas, made his history on Porto, on a single year, and a very beautiful one, so even though i think he could and should had stayed longer, i wish nothing else than the best of luck for him. Plus Spurs were really dominant tonight. If Benfica doesn't win CL, i will be rooting for these guys.

Yeah, it happened. Most of our players were subs and you could see by their demeanor and effort level that they didn't want to be out there.

There is a holy trinity in portuguese football it seems. The Father (Mou), The Son (AVB) and The Holy Spirit (Ronaldo). Portugal supports them and keeps there ***** clean with all the sucking. :^_^

Imp, but if Jose returns to Chelsea, I can't see jorped supporting Chelsea. Anyway, I'm still interested in whether jorped supported Chelsea when Jose was our manager.

As i mentioned, i only support them because i really like AVB. When we won CL i was really young, and it still made quite an impression on me, but i won't ever forget the one year Vilas Boas was with us. We had been completely beaten by Benfica the year before. And the new season wasn't looking good either. I never expected Porto to have the success we had, because as i said, Benfica had all the momentum.

AVB changed everything. Charismatic young coach, with a lot of quality on his speech and even his history with real big names on the football world, like Bobby Robson and Mourinho, made me trust him even more. AVB wasn't the sole reason why we obviously won what we did that year, cuz we had awesome players like Falcão, Hulk and we even hired one of the players, our president had been looking to have for quiet some years, João Moutinho from one of our rivals, aka SC Sporting, but still i doubt we would ever have done as well without AVB.
And to make me even like him more, he is a true supporter of FC Porto, aka "Portista", so i will always wish him the best. For everything he did for my club! For all the joy we had that year, against everything and everyone, we won 4 out of 5 possible trophies.

And i am not one of those haters who keeps mocking the rivals, but that year, i will never forget this

This and Falcão's poker vs Villarreal.

Anyway, and on the other hand what makes me enjoy Spurs, is that even though they don't have the money some other premiere's teams have like City and Chelsea, they are still making a name for themselves. And Bale is an awesome player, i am intrigued to see if he can even get better. Anyway, at this point i would love to see Spurs getting the third place on PL.
Go AVB :amuse

I know a lot of people who support multiple teams, manly because at some point they made it quite an impression on them, and with time they kept supporting them. At my case, the only team i support is and will always be FC Porto.
Though it doesn't mean, i won't enjoy and like some teams during some years. Either it is because of the football they play, or because i like some people that are currently on that club, it doesn't really matter. In the end Porto will always be my team, the rest is just secondary.

Honestly, sometimes it's obvious that i question teams like Chelsea, because of obvious reasons, but i have nothing against them at all. I mean, we all know football is not only a spectacle but also a business for some people. Though, obviously it's easier to like clubs that do awesomely with less resources than clubs that spend huge amounts of money and most of the the times end missing the most important thing that is needed on a team, which is team play spirit.

But, i don't have anything against Chelsea, it has a lot of players i admire, and if Mourinho goes there i will obviously support him. But if you ask me, if AVB keeps at Spurs and Mourinho goes to Chelsea, i would support AVB more, though as i said i would also support Mourinho.

jorped, we didn't see you supporting Chelsea when AVB was the manager. :derp

At least he's gone away from that idiotic high line thing for the most part. In last weekend's match, it was Wenger who played with one and got schooled for it.

I might not have said anything while that happened, but i wanted everything to go well for him and for Chelsea during the time he was there :pout
Also one of the reasons why i want AVB to have some support, is that after is performance on Chelsea, pretty much everyone doubted about his qualities. So i want him to have some success, to prove those people they were wrong about him.
Anyway, once again, i have nothing against Chelsea, they have a lot players i really like, such as Oscar, Hazard, Ramirez ....

I guess, but as I didn't see you supporting Chelsea, it seems kind of questionable.

Um, people could see the talent of AVB as a manager, but the problem was that he insisted on playing a style that didn't match the players he had. If your CBs aren't overly quick, you can't play a high line, but even with speedy CBs, a high line is a very dangerous prospect. The inflexibility in the face of failure was something that people disagreed with.

You like Oscar? Oscar has way too many flaws. I know that he still needs time to develop, but the fact that he's small and is too easily pushed off the ball is a problem that isn't going to just magically go away.
