It was funny how the other kai's got on his case
Why didn't Goku just instant transmit someone in the middle of snake way.
Though I assume king kai's planet was the first image he had because I think he as to visualize where he needs to transmit to or something like that.

Secondly afer the explosion - Cell also had the transmigration ability did he not? So why did 'they' allow him to keep his body in tact?

no one allowed him(cell)a body...there was a "cell"left at the the explosion site(kais planet)that was how he rejuvied...then he used instant transmission to return to the arena...

I meant after the being caught / killed by Gohan - he was beat up again by the dead Goku and Pi-kon (sp) along with Freezer and King Cold.

which in fact raises another question...why did he look like perfect cell if 17&18 are needed for that form?

It was a build up. Dragonball was huge on the trope. Almost like a soap opera.

"You are pregnant...with your stepbrothers child....and he's dead, so it was the really the evil twin?"

The long battle with the droids and cell was the same thing. It kept getting worse and worse. It builds suspense and it helps the series stretch farther in time.
