Re: xi0 thread.

Nuno: I finished DRRR!! last night. Loved it, it definitely lived up to the hype. I actually thought the second half was better, more serious, but also more focused. It was a really smart show too, in addition to being quirky and hip. Personal identity is a pretty common subject, but I though DRRR did a good job of exploring how people construct their identities, and the fluidity of self identity. I thought that Celty, Kida, and Izaya best illustrated those themes, why they were my favorite characters.

When I tell you the second half was as enjoyable as the first one, if not even better, you just ignore it.... and when Kait says the same you get hyped.

I'm not hyped, I'm interested. I've never said that the second half is bad, and I doubt I will ever change my opinion about first > second.

Re: xi0 thread.

Both parts were very good, I am not sure either is any better or worse. I preferred the more serious mood of the second half, personally, but the first half was just as good. Mostly I just preferred the focus on Kida, Mikado, Sonohara, and Izaya. DRRR actually kind of reminded me of a cross between Mawaru Penguindrum and Bakemonogatari. The pacing of Mawaru was very similar to DRRR, Brain's Base used some similar visual tricks too.

I was joking dude, I got it. You're taking me so serious lately, no matter what I say :uguu

I pretty much agree with what Kait said (besides the comparison with Mawaru, didn't watch that show) so it's totally fine if you enjoyed the first half more :nod

I don't follow these kinda of stuff, as much as you guys do, but don't forget to warn me when the movie is out :zomg

Overall DRRR!! is a good series, but a bit overrated in my opinion. It was still a really enjoyable anime, but i kinda expected more of the last episodes. So i don't think he is a weirdo :hmph
But still for me DRRR!! >>> Baccano.

Kida is probably my favorite character of the cast! :nod

I think different, for me neither Durarara!! or Baccano! is clearly better than the other series. Both have their own unique traits and their own awesome characters. Durarara probably has a better story(telling) but I really enjoyed the pure madness of Baccano. I mean

Lad Russo and Claire Stanfield slaughterin through the train was just awesome :XD

So yeah, I can't really decide on a favourite. Would definitely love to see a second season for both ;__;

It's an all new story, taking place after the end of the game (and TV show). 5pb said that they can not recommend the movie to anyone unfamiliar with the game or original anime. To the best of my knowledge, the gist of the movie has not been released.

I did not think it could end any other way. DRRR was about the various ways individuals construct personal identity - from their environment, friends, inclusion in groups, self-perception. The second half focus was on how Anri, Mikado, and Kida built their identities, and how their sense of self created barriers effecting their friendship. They each believed that the others would not understand, or accept, who they really were, which lead to the confrontations between the three in the second half. The way the plot unfolded, all three were able to lower their defenses, reconcile with their past, understand each other as individuals, and form truer friendships.

What Kait said, it's an original story. Nothing of what we will see in the movie happens in the game. There already are some raw translations of the trailer around, so you can get a basic idea of what it's about when you feel like reading them. I don't want to get spoiled so I'm holding back with checking the translations.

I am gonna do the same then. I just had the fear that they might rehash the series in an attempt of filling the pockets.
