For Mental, so far the primary decision point has been how well you maintain your composure during a match and how well you can keep your concentration in the match, I think.

Like for Fuwa, the mention about his handicap thing probably isn't helping to determine his score, but the fact that even if he has to toss out the handicap and it doesn't bother him does. Whereas, say Ryuuji, who only has 3 mental has shown to get agitated easily, doesn't seem to like to put forth all that much effort.

Also, I'll try to get Irie done tonight...last couple of nights just been out of it. Wednesday forgot my book on my desk at work and last night was just exhausted and went to bed early.

I have some dinner plans this weekend and such, but I should have some time to get translations done. At the very least I'm shooting to get Irie, Oni, and the rest of the G10 completed.

After G10 is done, gonna start on Middle Schoolers: Ryoma, Kintarou, Atobe and Sanada.

I believe two panels now have definitively said Kazuya vs Byoudouin. Of course, it could change.

Ryoma was the main character of Genius, not of Golden Age.
This is still New Prince of Tennis, at least in it's title :hmph

That seems more a matter of skill, not mental though.

I'm kinda talking for everyone, but I think we all agree that we want Sengoku.

:derp

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by this. What seemed like a matter of skill?

But also, looking at some of the stats, all those with great Mental have great attitudes. Like Mitsuya, nothing bothered him and he just kept on playing into a set 3rd that he didn't have to take. It's the confidence you have in your own abilities and the will to keep playing even after something doesn't work as planned. They don't feel the pressure from other players.

The fact that he wasn't bothered at all by the handicap seemed more a matter of skill (tech) than mental*

But yeah, maybe the definition of mental is = to confidence I guess, that's why Kirihara's mental goes up a ton when he goes Devil Mode.

Ok then :(

If you look at the stamina rating and the associated text, it's clearly implied that some players consume less stamina as a function of their superior skill. That stamina rating is most likely say if you put all these guys in a marathon who would last the longest. Although Irie has a low stamina, he's clearly just messing around while playing Atobe since he's just that much better so he doesn't need to use very much stamina at all.
Thats a good point. It could also be that players who have stats that aren't that high could just be hiding their true power, if Irie really was only as good as the stats that the coaches had on him, then he probably wouldn't have been able to beat a first stringer, but he made 20 look like a joke, plus I think Tokugawa is a lot stronger than his stats show

From the beginning of SPOT, Oni, Tanegashima, Tokugawa, and Irie were singled out from the other high schoolers, they were even hanging out together and they seemed to pretty much be the strongest in the camp.

Now it turns out 2 of them were really Genius 10 members, so I think both Irie and Tokugawa are both top 10 material as well, Irie played games with atobe, current number 9, and gave him a tie, he also made number 20 his bi@tch. Tokugawa is a 10 ball tech mountain trained player whose goal is to beat byoudin.

Hopefully this shuffle match will be like the intra school rankings in POT, where they play for positions, then go play tournaments, except now they play other countries, it would be cool to see some of the former high school first stringers train to take back their positions, or skilled middle schoolers who didn't make 1st string this time train and get spots, like shiraishi, fuji, kaidou, etc.

Is Kintarou still number 14 even though he tried to challenge for number 5 and failed? And what happend to kabaji and niou's old numbers after they moved up/got kicked out? has that been addressed in the new data book?

Before the match start, it mention Kintarou as 2nd stringer, I don't think he have any number anymore.

Inui's stats are so low, even mizuki has higher stats, I thought his physical abilities went up a lot during POT due to his intense training(at least 3X more than anyone else), then increased further due to the mountain training(which increased everyones abilites a lot), he's beaten momo, renji, and the number 17 representative, and he's one of the weakest players in the camp based on stats, no way he should only be at 14

OMG Ryuuji ("devil coach who is responsible for the harsh training in the camp") screams MURICA so much :XD

Sorry but you need that song to read his profile properly

Mifune has eagles as family composition. Shiraishi also has Kaburiel listed. These guys... I don't think even Ryoma has Karupin listed, does he?

Well, you're trying, Sai. We appreciate your efforts.

Wait, 165 cm? The original thing for Irie (back on whatever that site's called), said he was 178 cm or so.

Ah, sorry. Just saw it now. But not all pets made it to the family list, though. Since Atobe has a buttload of pets. Shishido does care a lot for his dog, let's see if he has it listed.

Funfact, in the page where Irie played his sax

The sax turned from an alto to a tenor.

Far left is alto, right is tenor.

fun sai fact: i had attemtpted to learn the tenor sax when I was 10. I failed miserablya nd had to fake my way througha. school concert >.> this is how i learned i have no musical talent except for kind of being able to carrya. tune when i sing

Kaoz, I always wondered, the order of the players in the list against the 1st string means something? Imo it was just random
In my opinion, yes, but I don't have any more proof than anyone who says it doesn't, and it relies on one of the revisions in the fanbook being an error (namely that it was Hisajima/Miyamoto who faced Taira/Hara and not Handa/Miyamoto, which isn't too farfetched if you look at the context, but YMMV).

You have eagle awareness man hahaha
That's pretty embarassing for Konomi Takeshi since PoT has some seriously Jazzy soundtracks in the anime for him to be getting that sort of thing totally wrong.

(Such as RE TYPE B. <-- A seriously epic Epic OST)

Wait, 165 cm? The original thing for Irie (back on whatever that site's called), said he was 178 cm or so.
I freaking knew it.
And I was getting bs on here when I spotted the massive inconsistency.

He looks UP to Atobe Keigo who is only 1.75, when Irie was meant to be 1.78?
It made no sense. Konomi's not retarded.

Nah, I just saw it on tumblr, actually. The fans are pretty insane when they come to details. Another one counted which year PoT actually happened, (based on Fuji's birthday and the Nationals date) and found out the most plausible is that PoT happens in year 2014.

PoT takes place in 2008. http://fet.fudomine.org/index.php?tournaments
(Or at least I assume that's been taken from a databook.)

Nope, can't be 2008. 2008 is a leap year and Fuji's born in the leap year which means it's impossible for him to be 14 in 2008 (logically).
