Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

I thought the shin sekai yori manga ended up being some yuri affair instead of what the anime or novel was?
I watched the anime, but never read the manga. I have never seen translations of the novel, but never really looked.

Homosexuality is a plot point in the anime. I am not calling it yuri or BL, because it is not depicted in a manner typical of yuri or BL manga. Gay and lesbian relationships between teenagers are presented as a societal norm. Characters do not enter open heterosexual relationships until after graduation. I don't know how the manga presents this aspect of the story, but it is important in the manga.
Character design in the anime and manga are very, very different.

Saki, the heroine, at the beginning of the manga (top left, foreground). Keep in mind that she is supposed to be 12 at this point in the series:

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

the anime was defnitely the superior version, both in pacing and design. the manga feels like a yuri dream, always groping and bathing.

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

What day did Koe no Katachi #1 release? I thought it would sell a little more than that.

DAYUM. Sakamoto Desuga #1 is at nearly 900,000. That's huge for Harta. I wonder if it could reach 1million one day? Volume 2 a a good debut as well.

Doubutsu no Kuni #13 seems to have sold a few thousand more than last volume. Nice :^_^

Perhaps its time for them to give Sakamoto Desuga a 5-10minute set of short anime

Looks like all 38 volumes of ace of diamond on that best 500 again, as well as every volume of Yowapeda. Nice, hope Ace of Diamond stays strong.

Whyd One Punch Man (every volume increase?)...

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

Probably because publisher don't print much as well for Koe no Katachi.
But I thought it should sold more than that. especially after see many japanese book store promote it.

It had only 3 days to sell, probably it will sell more next week like Nanatsu no Taizai in its first volume.

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

Ooh. Rohan's selling well despite being a one-off. And a compilation of stuff going back to 1999.

And One Punch Man, getting the entire series on the top 50. That's really something. Glad to see it, it's a really good and original series. And most of all it's proving the success of Shuueisha's new model where they manga's available totally free online, but people are still willing to pay for it. Glad to see Murata seeing some success again after Donten Prism Solar Car and all that other stuff he did after Eyeshield didn't sell that well.

Because it has being serialized for very long time and it only had one pattern of the story.

Yep, but why now? Any specific reason? Or is just an simple ocurrence?

It doesn't really happened to suddently; it already showed that Conan sale is decreasing.

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

When out of 879 chapters only 200 concern the main story line, the audience will start thinking if this is worth it.

Conan's sales are not in decline, nor have they been declining. Volume 81's sales are within Conan's typical range after a week. Depending on the day of release, Conan's first week sales are consistently between about 280 - 350,000 copies. Volume 81 was released on November 18, the first day of this week's charts. The 37,210 sold last week represented early, pre-release sales. The 318,642 sold this week is consistent with first week sales of every volume going back as far as November 4 - 10, 2008. Next weeks sales should be in the range of about 380 - 420,000 copies, the same number every volume of Conan has sold after two weeks. Volumes 79 and 80, released earlier this year, sold almost the exact same amount per week as every volume released in the last five years.
