There is a possibility of a brazil spain or brazil netherlands in the second round. Brazil might leave the competition way earlier than the final. It s a real possibility.

Now about the show of yesterday, brazil didn t give a good impression. Presentation was pedant. The number of times they said brazil is the best and pele is the best in history was not necessary. It was also too long and boring.commentators in belgium were so bored that they mostly talked about fernanda in a kinky way

I did not watch the whole show. Fifa.com was sufficient for me.

What I dislike about H: Belgium tends to play bad against average teams but if we manage to get in the second round then Germany or Portugal might be more modest or we will kick them out.

Sadly, that Shitty US team is not in our group. If that were the case, I could haven opened several bottles of beer before the game to celebrate our win with xi0

Lol, what a troll. I don't think this team is any less talented than the 2010 team, there's just less hype surrounding them running up to the tournament. Adding the fact that they have a pretty tough group doesn't help anything. Hopefully it won't be completely embarrassing, but I'm not expecting much.

With the draw as it stands, Argentina has less to do to win than they might have depending on how things worked out. Before the tournament, Argentina were maybe 10th favorite in my mind, but they probably move up to about fourth or fifth now.

One of Spain, Holland, or Brazil will not make it past the Round of 16, so that definitely helps Argentina. Belgium will probably play Portugal and one of those teams will be eliminated.

If this WC took place in Europe, I would put money on Germany to win. However, even though I don't think Brazil has the best team, nor should they really win the WC, I feel like they'll win. I don't want Brazil to win, and in fact, I think it's bad for football when Brazil win.

I think Argentina is going to win it, and messi is going to rape every team in his path winning everything and leaving a trail of brazilian tears in his path.

Now THAT would be fun.
Messi era is ending. I already saw this before, now that he is hurting continuously he won't play as good as before anymore, I'm not worried neither Messi nor Argetina, really.

Argenting took the easiest group, lucky bastards, but we will see on the second round.

Why Brazil winning is bad to the soccer?

He played the entire year, right? I suffered contusion some months ago IIRC, from now on his era is ending. He won't play WC like he played in Barcelona all those years for sure.

He's been dragging an injury for months, because Barcelona keeps ¨forcing¨ him to play instead of giving him proper rest / rehab (dunno if that's the word in english). It's clear taht right now they are going to be more calm about it and let him rest as much as he needs to. By the 2014 WC and the second half of this season he should be alright.

He didn't break his knee, his carreer ain't ending any time soon.

I honestly think we have a good enough team to fight for the title, but we had better team who weren't champions. Argentina now has a coach - as opposed to last WC - and a good path to the finals. Germany has a nice team and has been without a big trophy for too long
France has gotten a pretty easy group

Bottom line: I have absolutely no idea what will happen :XD

Given the overall quality, even if 10th is really low, it's possible.
Brazil, Spain, Italy, England, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Columbia, Portugal, France ....
The number of potential winners is really big this time.

You're really telling me that Frosty is favouring Fance, Portugal, Colombia and England above Argentina?

I will tell you that I'll favor France and Portugal above Argentina.

I just picked 10th out of thin air, but it was roughly the number of teams I could think of that I favored above Argentina. Brazil, Spain, Italy, Germany, Holland, Portugal, France, Uruguay, and one of Colombia or Belgium makes nine.

However, as I posted, with a favorable draw, basically meaning that Argentina won't have to potentially face a lot of those teams, Argentina's chances go way up, which makes them either the third or fourth favorite to win. Theoretically, Argentina could easily make it to the SFs. If Messi can magically come alive in a World Cup (plus Aguero supporting him) and the defense can put in good shifts, Argentina could potentially win it. I just don't see both of those things happening against the biggest teams. If Messi and co. do it and prove me wrong, all power to them.

Explain this?
The media coverage is entirely too great. It puts an unhealthy pallor over the entire sport when Brazil wins. If you're talking about the best nation over the past 20 years, it's been Brazil. I'm not getting into before that because a lot of teams put out amateur sides and countries were split. Pele is great, but I don't know how he'd stack up against the players of today if played today (assuming that Pele had modern training, diet, etc).

I feel that when Brazil wins, football gets less watchable. Brazil's win in 2002 has left me with a bad taste in the mouth ever since because of what could've been. FIFA's yellow card rules prevented key German players from playing in that Final. Ronaldo and Ronaldinho were great, no doubt, but it just seemed wrong. It's hard to put it into words. Moreover, it's not just that I don't want Brazil to win (although I've never rooted for Brazil, admittedly), I'd really like to see someone new win. Like when Spain won. They'd been decent for a while, but they always had that monkey on the back. They finally got there.

I can say all of that, but it's like how people hate/dislike/whatever some of the teams in America. A lot of the "hated" teams in America haven't won for a long time or are generally good, but don't really challenge for the title. Look at Duke (they won a few years ago, but hadn't won for ages), the Patriots (they haven't won in a decade), the Yankees (won a few years ago, but always had major defiencies, and hadn't won for a while before that). I don't really know a hockey equivalent, maybe the Red Wings? Basically, if anyone other than Brazil wins, I'll be perfectly fine with it, even if it Hardy's beloved homeland.

I don't hate/dislike Brazil because they've won, necessarily. It's hard to explain. I have Brazilian friends, the club I support has four Brazilians, so it's not that I dislike Brazil or anything, I just dislike the Seleção and everything that goes with them.

How can you favour France? France doesn't even favour France.
Well, it's because France usually performs against big teams. Hard to say. When you're a long term supporter of a team (since 1997), you have to believe. You can't be giving up like the French fans did after the 2-0 loss to Ukraine. I believed the whole way that France would still qualify and then they did.

If the team gets together and focuses, they could easily pull off a win over a big team. If the ball rolls in their favor (I was going to make a dice reference, but...), things could potentially happen. Any of the teams on the above list could technically win the World Cup. I didn't say that France was a top pick for me, they're probably 8th or 9th favorite in the World Cup (pre-draw, at least). Having 10 or so teams who could ostensibly win the World Cup is a good thing.

Do I believe that France will win the WC? No. I also don't believe that Colombia, Belgium and Argentina will win. Holland has the players, so there's always a chance, but realistically speaking, they won't win, but you never know, because look at how Spain got over the hump in 2010.

Brazil, Spain, and Germany are my top three favorites, not in any specific order, although probably favoring Brazil because it's in Brazil. The second tier of teams would be Italy and Portugal. The team on the edge would be Holland.

However, if you take into consideration the draw, Argentina's chances go way up because of how seeding and placement works. Permutations and Groups can drastically alter a team's chance.s

Personnaly, Belgium need a big world cup & it got nothing to do with sports. Basically, a good worldcup would make belgians proud to be Belgian & it would surely have a negative impact on separatists (which are currently the most popular in our country). I don't want my country to be split & as crazy as it sounds, a good worldcup would help.

About winning the competition, no player deserve to win it more than Miroslav Klose who is for me the "world cup player" of the past decade. Plus, Germany (and also Holland) were really close to win in the past few years & both deserve to take the cup home.
